That's kind of my point... the actual technical details around what initiates an impeachment are not important... just about anything can be used as an excuse to kick it off. Being considered unfit to lead is just as valid as killing a busload of school kids. All that really matters is the simple majority in the House, and the 2/3 in the Senate. Which is why I say it's more like a political popularity contest than a court. You can do nothing illegal as President, and still get impeached.
You say that like it’s fact, but it’s not. Who knows what next month may look like. Nothing is for sure in poitics.
I would amend that to say the Republicans won't impeach him unless they absolutely have to. What would bring us to that point, I honestly do not know anymore.
Since you don't get out much, I'd just though I'd let you know that: - "Republicans" are NOT okay with kiddie diddlin'. - Convicted kiddie diddlers and abusive assholes of all kinds are most certainly not limited to Republicans.
They will if the Russia stuff turns out to be true. Think of how many old republicans like McCain there are in the senate and house who still live in that cold war era. Nonstop embarrassments, damaging alliances, rampant and unshackled stupidity - sure, they'll let that go, but they won't forgive collusion with Russia. That's true, and you never know, but I still don't see why there's a good chance of it happening without Mueller releasing something substantial. Remember too that a vote to impeach Trump without a really, really good reason would cost most of these congressmen their seats. Do you really think they give a fuck about much else? We're not exactly talking about the pinnacle of integrity here.
Trump is in it for him, not the Republicans. They are on board as long as he's aligning with them, and I can easily see a scenario where he goes off the rails and flops his positions and goes against them. It's not like Trump and McConnell's relationship is all roses... so if McConnell sees an advantage to getting Trump out, I have no doubt he could do it.
In your opinion, what does Roy Moore's success and the tacit support shown him by the leader of the party say about the Republican party itself?
That the Republican base is more concerned with religion than anything else, trust me when I tell you that they will justify anything as long as abortion is illegal and the gays can’t marry. I didn’t actually believe it until I moved down here but that’s all they care about, other than making sure black people have no status or say in anything that affects white people. I work in a “progressive” town in a solid southern state and the rampant racism that is still here would shock most people, I know it does me on a daily basis.
The tax plan has passed in the senate. It looks like the republicans might actually get a bill into law...
There were some lobbying against it. I'm guessing they made an oopsie and donated to the wrong people. I'm sure the rest will love it. Conyers has now played the "It's because I'm black, isn't it?" card. So much cringe. They need to kick him out. Anyone else baffled by the Franken accusations? It's not like I don't believe the women, but these seem so petty. "He touched my butt once ten years ago." I just find it really weird that Franken did all these really brief grabs for a few seconds. Then again, it would be far from the strangest of the accusations to come out.
