Here is a fun fact. The total number of black senators in United States history is *drumroll please* ten. That's right. Ten.
I'm just waiting for a time when you can say you're an atheist and not be looked at like there is something wrong with you. Setting the bar real low here. It's a simple concept for me: everyone in the world's hundreds of religions, they're all literally atheists toward those hundreds of other gods. I just go one god farther. What's so bad about that? If anything shouldn't religion be more like an opt-in system? Like, yes, I acknowledge modern science plus...... *checks boxes* the easter bunny, the tooth fairy, the abrahamic god aaaaaaand monogamy.
That's gotta be it, right? Because I can't think of anyone else that ad is supposed to reach. Did the idiot who came up with it really think it was going to sway some undecideds? Or was this some lame-ass attempt to "show wokeness" to black voters in Alabama? Right now I'd love nothing more than to see the picture of the person who came up with this ad and thought it was a good idea. Bet they're good friends with this person:
Yeah but I bet he's alllll black where it counts. You don't snag a woman like Michelle with just "potential".
The ad is stupid in the extreme. I'd peg it for a Moore plant if they hadn't already admitted to it. Everyone already knows what Moore is, and his "but slavery" gaffe(?) has already made the rounds with every audience this ad might've been meant to reach. This is basically Jones doing a touchdown dance on his way to the endzone. No better place to fumble and lose it all.
That was my first thought too. "It has to be a troll ad, no one could be this stupid." I am in constant amazement of what people think are good ideas.
Was that the wrong metaphor? I didn't mean he was celebrating a win, but showing false hubris, taking the black community's support for granted.
https://twitter.com/nbcnews/status/940409570249371648 I don’t know how to embed the video in this from my phone so if a mod could do that it would be great. For pure irony it is one of the funniest things I’ve seen in a while. For those who don’t watch it. The video is Roy Moore’s wife announcing that the “fake news” is wrong about them being anti Semitic because “one of our lawyers is Jewish”.
And somehow this is the third most ridiculous thing to come out of the Moore campaign tonight. #2: Steve Bannon shitting on Joe Scarborough for attending worse schools than Bannon himself did. Scarborough's alma mater? University of Alabama. #1: Someone who served with Moore telling a story, at a Moore rally, of the time he, Moore, and another soldier went to a brothel in Vietnam that had underage prostitutes, but it's all good because Moore didn't fuck the kids. What in the holy hell is going on down in Alabama.
One Alabama judge ordered them to NOT destroy the ballot records after the election, like Georgia did. Then the state supreme court overruled the judge, so AL can destroy them. Nothing funny about that.
https://newrepublic.com/article/119019/civil-rights-movement-going-reverse-alabama This is what’s going on, keep in mind this article is three years old, it’s only gotten worse, shameful really. I can’t think of a better word for it.
They should just go off and be their own fucking country. They don’t seem so in tune to this whole “United” States thing. Besides with them gone, think of how your national testing averages will skyrocket.
One area where congress has been consistent - for years - is demonstrating that you can be a terrible person, an unqualified person, or generally just an idiot, and still be elected. It is most definitely not limited to Alabama.
I had to screenshot this before his handlers deleted it, shockingly they haven't. Maybe there's just no taking away his phone anymore. I want to believe this is rock bottom, and he cannot go any lower. But I expect he'll surprise me yet again.
Why does this matter? Is it simply a matter of not being Presidential enough? Or do you care what one of the rank-and-file crumb bum loser Senators feelings?
So your President publicly called out a Senator and basically accused her of offering sexual favours for campaign donations and your response is, why does this matter? This is the kind of apathy that allows people like Trump and Moore to exist and succeed in US politics.
It matters because the highest ranking official in the government acting like a petty jackass and that it is likely he does the same when interacting wih people on a daily basis. And him contributing to the lowering of the level of debate on very real and serious topics to a level that would be embarrassing for a high school government class. No he is not the only one. But he is the most prominent.
