So much of the national attention focused on Moore's multiple scandals that I think this part got left out. He's a moderate, well reasoned and eloquent on a lot of issues, and has a really good track record of service up to this point. 538 was reporting that turn out was lower than predictions for Moore in the areas he was expected to win big, whereas there was the opposite trend for Jones. Amazing what a candidate can do when the constitutes actually like him. The only time I've voted somewhere that wasn't a church was when I was in college. It's kind of funny how in a country founded on separation of church and state so many people end up voting at those venues, although I think at least part of it has to due with convenience and availability.
Most of our voting is done in schools around here. There’s never any lines but if there were there’s plenty of parking and you can wait indoors which is nice.
They showed crazy lines on the news but I was in and out in about 5 min. There was a long hall to accommodate a line of perhaps 40-50 people but there were about 3. I think voting was bad in lower density rural areas with limited polling locations because the guy in charge kept forecasting low voter turnout even til the end and those locations were understaffed. The last presidential election I stood in line at a church indoors for may be 7min before I could vote.
Voting at churches is not uncommon around here, in Georgia. They are easily accessible with parking and not usually busy on Tuesdays. Schools are fading out because for big elections, that's usually a school day, and the vehicular and pedestrian traffic causes logistical and safety issues. In my surround area it's probably 40% churches, 40% schools, 20% other. I vote at a fire station.
,,,,and we have the first suicide from the sexual harassment/assault allegations. KY state rep Dan Johnson.
I suppose it was silly of me to expect a rational and well thought out suicide note of all things, but that last public post went around the bend.
He could have at least added a period or some other punctuation. If you’re gonna post a suicide note, make it readable for shits sake.
Conservative media is making a big push to justify firing Mueller and the RNC is providing cover. Very interesting to see where this goes.
Wouldn’t he have to first fire Rosenstein, and then have his deputy fire Mueller? I don’t think Trump can just fire Mueller.
Yeah, the exact mechanism requires some finagling, but the end goal is clearly to put an end to the investigation.
Actually, I believe he can just fire Sessions then nominate a new pick for AG that wouldn't have to recuse themself from the Russia Investigation who could then fire Mueller. However, whoever he would pick to replace Sessions would need to be confirmed by the Senate and I doubt that would be a quick process considering that there's currently no valid reason to fire Sessions other than a means to get Mueller out.
The senate would never hold a confirmation hearing right now. And no self respecting lawyer or politician would actually want to be Trump’s AG. There’s plenty of shitty people who would though.
Oh for sure. By no means am I saying it's a viable solution; just a technical option that is still available. And given his previous choices, I can't realistically say it's outside of the realm of possibility for this guy.
All these allegations and now this suicide has made me paranoid as hell. My company, due to the nature of the work, is like 98% women. I’m one of two straight men in administration (again, just the nature of the business and by no means our choice haha). They’re like family to me. 7 years ago, one of them married my wife and I. Another one did my groom’s cake. At the reception, my wife’s side was that whole redneck, one tree no branches kinda thing. My side was 70/30 split of work/family. To me, work equals family. I’ve been with them over a decade; they all helped me grow up, in a lot of ways, more than my family did. Hell, one of them even caught my brain tumor early and saved my life. Regardless, all it takes is one person who left us under bad terms to say that my goodbye hug she thought meant something else, and I’d be tied up in litigation forever. It’d ruin me. Fuck, I hate people.
Why would you hug someone leaving on bad terms? I don't know if you know this, so just as an FYI, handshakes are great. Pretty much the standard of the professional world in my opinion.
You misread that I think. Not like “oh you’re fired here’s a hug.” Like, in passing, for example, at one place today, they said “see you tomorrow” and gave me a hug. I likely have a better chance of winning the lottery than anything happening. But it still gives me the shivers that I could be guilty until proven innocent. Perhaps this is karma for white people wondering why black people have an issue with cops?
Well, he is using caps to state his devout Christianity. And those are a lot bigger than normal letters. Maybe he’ll get a pass. I do like how he’s blaming this on PTSD and not being a rapist. He doesn’t want people judging him while dead. “HEAVEN IS MY HOME!” According to your rules dude, heaven will be a very brief roadside attraction before you see your REAL home. Sorry, club is at capacity. Go wait in the basement.
