So... in case you haven't heard... Trump just made a comment about immigrants from "shithole countries"... This is CNN: https://v.redd.it/2r4e6g2i3j901 This is FOX: https://i.imgur.com/7PUBBhL.jpg
Hmm. I seem to have read earlier today that there was a bipartisan deal that was going to get done on immigration, is that not the case now? If it is still true and immigration is getting fixed, Trump accomplished something that has been an issue since the days of Clinton at least, if not longer. Why are we quibbling over coarse language? Results speak more loudly.
Or that they demand 15 dollars an hour but when the rubber meets the road with migration they support unfettered migration that keep wages artificially low.
And why would they choose this country anyways? I thought we treat anyone that isn't lily white like shit.
The thing Trump said he would agree to and then later when he figured out what it was said he wouldn’t agree to? Because he want to build a wall that is going to end up costing six times what he claimed? That deal?
Y’all are being pretty obtuse about what the president said and what he clearly implied. He said we should stop taking immigrants from shithole countries and instead take them from countries like Norway. He is clearly saying that people from X countries are shit and people from Y countries are good. How is that anything but a racial and ethnic preference?
The only way you’ll “take” Norwegians in is by forcing them at gunpoint. He should start by listing countries where people aren’t already better off.
You might find these quotes from Trump interesting. Sure sounds like immigrants are going to be given these magical manufacturing jobs. The whole interview is actually worth a read. https://www.wsj.com/articles/transc...rview-with-the-wall-street-journal-1515715481
Wow, he’s on it. I had no idea they were soon going to be mass-producing Other Things in your country. We only have These Things up here.
Maybe their home countries aren’t exactly wonderful which is why they want to come here. But what he was saying is that these people aren’t worthy of coming here because of where they are from.(hint: brown people places) And people from predominantly white countries are.
We'll see if "comprehensive immigration" "reform" actually becomes anything, most likely a shit show or another punt. He mentions DACA but that's something even hardline republicans would get behind if he actually uses it as a hard bargaining chip, ie not giving amnesty to the other 11 million illegals.
I mean, the dude was speaking the truth in a Carlin-esque unvarnished fashion. More articulate than Ive seen elsewhere.
Oh, absolutely. It's actually quite refreshing to see, if you ask me. But this is kind of uncharted areas for cable news... I'm not sure we've ever seen this degree of "shock and awe" type reporting, truthful or not. Even the Washington Post ran the headline with "shithole" in it, for the first time, and had a special story explaining why they did that, for the first time.
Trump is denying he said it. The WaPo story was written by a reporter who heard the story from a source who heard the story from someone else. "Why do we want all these people from 'shithole countries' coming here?" Trump told senators in the Oval Office, according to a source briefed on the meeting." I'm not saying Trump didn't say it, he very well may have...but the story comes 3rd hand, so make of that what you will. Also isn't it ironic that just a couple days ago the people screeching about how we can't send the temporary refugees from El Salvador back because their country is such a shithole, are the same ones now screaming "Racist" because Trump supposedly called the country a shithole?
As someone previously said the issue in my opinion is equating the country they are coming from having poor infrastructure/government and the people from that country being bad people. Is Haiti a country that is in bad shape? Yes Are the people from Haiti bad? Should be determined on a case by case basis.
