Well yeah, it's only terrorism when they do it. In the meantime, incomplete and inflammatory headline isn't technically untrue.

    Well, a few questions then:

    1. If you commit a terrorist act against the empire (on US soil or claimed soil), shouldn't you face justice in that country or should you face a military tribunal? This was the big thing early on in the GWOT boondoggle and determining what justice was to America. If it is a crime, should they be given a fair trial or face a tribunal or worse yet end up at a CIA black site having their fingernails removed?

    2. Domestic terror could include a lot of people who some wouldn't consider terrorists, for instance, those who are fighting to protect the bunnies, butterflies and beetles. Or how about Bill Ayers? He was a bomber back in the 70's and is now celebrated in certain circles, is that terrorism?

If you use violence to promote a cause, it's terrorism. Regardless of whether it's for your religion, bunnies, or a country's involvement in Vietnam.

Doesn't matter if you agree with the reasons or not... it's terrorism.

"the unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims."

    Do it locally, it's Domestic.

Oh, I'm not disagreeing with either of you. Merely pointing out that people have differing opinions of what is terrorism and who should be considered a terrorist - the minutemen in Massachusetts may have been one of America's first terrorist organizations during the colonial era, right? At least to the British they were. I was also pointing out that brown people from shit holes are charged with terrorism more often because they commit more of it and (at least in my opinion) I would rather see them charged and sentenced than be treated as an enemy combatant and kept offshore getting force-fed gallons of water very quickly with towels over their face.

HE's normalizing it? By sarcastically posting it in a post, when CNN used it 873 billion times during the week, with graphics and every talking head they could find? Alrighty then.

I’m not trying to be provocative, but out of curiosity I google mapped Haiti, switched to satalite view, scrolled in as far as I could, and from what I can see the entire country is indeed a shit hole. Here is the definition: Shit-hole (noun, vulgar, slang): an extremely dirty, shabby, or otherwise unpleasant place.

While it can be argued that a president shouldn’t say things like that for obvious reasons, it does not appear to be a factually incorrect statement. I do not think a sensible immigration policy should include letting everyone from everywhere into the country. What is so wrong with having some standard for allowing people in who will contribute to the society they are entering? I just don’t get it. As far as I can see it’s a no-brainer; this applies to any country, even developed ones.

You're not wrong. Haiti is a shitty place. But what you are conflating is: shitty place = shitty people. You're doing it by assuming that Haiti is gross from google satellite view. Not everyone from Haiti is going to be an upstanding citizen. No matter what country we are talking about, this is true. It's not like they are hopping in rafts, coming over here and collecting a government check. No, Trump should not have said the naughty words, but its not about the actual words so much as it is about what he meant by them compared to his Norway example.

In all of history, why has any group of people come to America? Is it because life was so great where they came from?

No I wasn't, shitty people are everywhere; that's why I brought up having a sensible immigration policy. I did not realize this discussion had already played itself out because I neglected to go back and read the several pages before. As usual, you guys got it right. It's been a really rough few weeks and my brain is just starting to work again. I've only been getting bits and pieces of info because I try not to watch the news and all I've really been hearing is that the president "allegedly" - read - most definitely - said shit-hole. America is, unfortunately, a racist country.

Well modern organized crime largely came about because of Prohibition. But they brought the proto-version of it (Black Hand, etc.) over from their shitholes.

I’ve been to Haiti twice. It’s a dire fucking place, even without the hurricanes. People put tarps over their walls because they have to pay taxes on owning a home if they have an actual roof.

We walked into this neighborhood where two US army humvees and soldiers were standing there to turn away Americans and Europeans from wandering into a bad neighborhood and getting killed.

Im sure it's been explained before but why the fuck do we have to continually have this government funding showdown every few months? Bickering about who gets the blame, gross exaggerations, tying nonsense to it as a political grandstanding/delaying tactic? Honestly I say let it shut down, maybe government employees will rethink working for the most incompetent employer on earth.

Here's the problem; the people essentially responsible for the shutdown (all of Congress, and to a lesser degree the president) will still continue to get paid even if the government does shut down. So, what incentive does it provide them to try and avoid this since other than potential political fallout, there's really no negative impact to them.

The Republicans run everything. How the fuck can they let the government shut down, and then try and blame it on the Dems? Am I missing something?

It needs at least 60 votes to pass the Senate, the GOP has a 51-49 majority. If everyone votes along party lines, it fails.

Which why it's disingenuous to blame the republicans with that logic. Anyway it's a redundant process that is tied to the worst mechanism in politics. I don't know why you don't hear some political party or wanna be candidate running on fixing it.
