And then it stands to reason, as you say, that if the President starts firing Justice Dept. officials en masse until he finds ones willing to do his bidding, Congress would begin impeachment proceedings. However, at this point, I don't know what Congress will do.
I'm tempted to agree with the interpretation that the President cannot pardon himself, but he also cannot be prosecuted until he leaves office. Which means we're relying on Congress to remove him, which means we're fucked.
Trump disinvited the Eagles from the White House because they decided to only send a limited delegation in an attempt to sidestep the kneeling/boycott issue. Basically canceled his birthday party because the cool kids didn't want to come.
Other congressmen picked up the slack.... since they aren't busy doing anything anyway. I think trump is trying to see how many members of every party he can piss off before they make him take his ball and go home.
I'm going to have to side with Trump on this one. So he doesn't support your protest. Big fucking deal. A lot of Americans don't. All I'm getting from this is that scoring social points with retards is more important than acting like a civilized human being. Trump has done absolutely nothing that warrants being an asshole like this and people cheering it on is just sad really. Bush starting a war on false pretenses that killed hundreds of thousands isn't worth skipping the white house visit, but this trivial shit is? Give me a fucking break.
This flag kneeling thing is a no-win for anyone siding with the kneelers. Even if you understand why they do it, agree with why they do it, and support their speech, all someone on the other side of the debate has to do is make it about disrespecting the troops, and wrap themselves in the flag and they win the PR war. Every single time. Introducing nuance to this topic is pointless when you have a bunch of incurious, screaming morons making it about something else entirely.
Well, my point wasn't really about that so much as that it is OK to disagree with someone and not act like a petulant fucking child. The president could learn something about that as well, but I'm not holding my breathe.
That’s what they were doing by not fucking going. Jesus Christ. You're judging these nfl players by a higher standard than the guy who you voted into the most powerful office in the fucking world. You’re indignant about political points being scored with retards over this but you’re siding with trump? The guy who has made it his mission to score political points with regards over this and just threw gas on the fire again? For the upteenth fucking time? Jesus fucking Christ. If you want this shit to go away, vote for someone who will fucking ignore it next time. You keep blaming other people for the shit show when you’re the one who bought a damn ticket for a front row seat.
It's worth remembering that Kaep originally made the decision to kneel as a form of protest after meeting with a Green Beret who told him that it wouldn't be disrespectful to the Flag if he knelt.
If there's one thing that's frustrated me the last two years it's the sheer number of people who think appeasement is a valid strategy for dealing with Trump. It's not, and it never will be. Plant your foot and hold as best you can.
A man seeks the most powerful office in the world: how he seeks that power and what he does once he has it doesn't define him? You're seemingly holding on to this vision of American politics where everyone is basically decent and deserves to be given the benefit of the doubt, but to say that you don't really know Trump as a man and whether or not he is worthy of hatred (maybe hatred is the wrong word here) is to say that you're really not paying attention, and or overly invested in protecting the office and institution of the presidency. I mean you're bringing up locker rooms where we know two things occurred. 1) he liked to go in and ogle naked beauty pageant contestants just because he could 2) he also likes to brag about sexually assaulting women in locker rooms. That doesn't tell you all you need to know about him? You're giving the benefit of the doubt to the guy who talks about grabbing pussies and such? The man is blatantly sexist and racist and worthy of all derision, contempt, and hatred for what he is doing to the country. Saying he's an idiot is praise by faint damnation. Being an idiot is misspelling special counsel every time he brings it up. It is something far more odious when he misspells it while saying that the special counsel is unconstitutional and conducting a witch hunt. It is an idiotic thing to say that Obama isn't a citizen, it is something far more terrible when he uses that racist lie to vault him through the Republican ranks. This guy insulted John McCain for being a POW. He's insulted gold star families on multiple occasions. This isn't the case of Donald Trump being a great but flawed man. He is a small and craven bully. During the campaign these bugs were sold as features. People said, "he is an asshole but he will get things done." Everyone wondered when he would pivot to the center and start being a normal and presidential candidate. He never did and never will. Now that he's obviously terrible at his job people apologize for him by just saying he's an idiot or a buffoon or whatever. That is ignoring what he is and what he's doing. To grant Donald Trump the benefit of the doubt when it comes to decency is pure foolishness. His intentions are not pure, he's not looking out for the country, and shouldn't be normalized as someone who is trying his best. That's obviously not true. If it were, he might stop DVRing Fox and Friends, stay off the golf course, and read a fucking book or two.
I will say it again. Learn to fucking read what people write. Not that disagreeing with the players' decision in this instance would have meant I was saying this anyway, but I accused Trump of the same thing in the very post you quoted. I mean, that post was two sentences long. This isn't that fucking hard. As far as that "Wahhh wahhh you voted for Trump" shit I'm really not going there again. I don't really give a shit about the conservative obsession with respecting the flag. I find it as misguided and silly as most of the posters on here. I just find it sad that not only can people not follow a really simple tradition, they have to celebrate the dysfunction. Call me crazy, but I prefer the old way of doing things where people could just say "We have our differences, but this isn't about that." Crazy, I know...
Heh, Cohen is fucked. The Special Master reviewing the files from the Cohen raid found that less that 0.01% of them were protected by attorney-client privilege. Bet he feels like shit right about now.
Mitch McConnell has canceled the Senate's August recess in order to hamper the ability of Democrat Senators to campaign for reelection in their home states.
OR! Could be he suddenly grew a conscience and doesn't want Trump firing Sessions and doing a recess appointment. But that's just what one of those "Rogue WH" twitter accounts think of it. Personally I think it's Bitch McConnell back on his bullshit.
McConnell's overriding priority is transforming the federal judiciary. He spent the entirety of the Obama administration pulling every dirty trick he could to block Obama's nominees, and now that Trump is president he is pulling every dirty trick he can to shove Trump's nominees through. Canceling the August recess gives him a few more weeks of Senate time to pass nominees, but more importantly it undermines the Democrats' ability to defend seats they need to capture a majority. If the Democrats get the majority, the rubber stamping stops.
Manafort needs to check his shoe. Judge is making him respond to accusations by Mueller of witness tampering. You know the saying, where there's smoke... trump is gonna tweet about a witch hunt
