Nah, I like to think of it in terms of standards. As in: if it weren't for double standards, we would have no standards at all. I agree. Those laggard fucks in Mexico should be better than this. They should do more and have more accountability to the rest of us. Their actions or lack thereof have caused this.
And yet I would expect us, as a whole, to rise above that and do the right thing, not use it as an excuse to do the wrong thing.
The US should whip out that dick all around the world and reign in all the injustices that are wrong.
Careful. When you guys get into dick-measuring contests with other countries, you have a habit of doing this thing called “losing”.
That's because some Nancy Boys somewhere insist that we "Fight fair" with one hand tied behind our back.
Except the wrong thing is so wildly overblown to the point of absurdity and based entirely on feelz and "WON'T SOMEONE PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!." In most cases on this subject(immigration) doing anything that even resembles standards of, say, Canada gets nearly the same reaction from the usual actors. My hope in this is that the families aren't separated but that the zero tolerance policy of prosecution towards the underlying crime remains. Would you have an issue with that?
But what isn't being overblown is the fact that this was an INTENTIONAL act in order to send a message. If it was the natural fallout due to best intentions, that's one thing... but to intentionally inflict this kind of thing in order to send a message is reprehensible. Even the past border security director said that this "message" will never work... they are, for the most part, fleeing much worse treatment than what they're experiencing at the US border... which in and of itself is terrifying. But yeah, I'm done talking about it... either you get what a shitty fucking thing it is, or you don't.
Here's where I have trouble. These people are fleeing conditions that we, in one way or another, strongly contributed to. We installed (seemingly) anti communist dictators who crushed their people into the ground. We fomented, aided, and armed rebellions. We've worked with and aided drug cartels. The massive destabilization that exists in Central and South America, is at least partially on us. To shrug our shoulders and say "Fuck it. Not my problem." I dunno. I have a hard time doing that.

You have a point. Remember the Monroe Doctrine? Well thats still alive and well https://www.strategic-culture.org/n...ng-the-monroe-doctrine-in-the-modern-age.html
You're right. https://www.cnn.com/2018/06/22/politics/donald-trump-immigration-angel-families/index.html
API = American Petroleum Institute. Pruitt may be the most corrupt federal official since the Harding Administration.
I regard Cheney as more evil than corrupt. I feel like he would have made legitimate personal sacrifices in order to hurt people, and you gotta respect that kind of dedication.
I like that story because it had the simplest explanation in the world that neither side wanted to admit to. Republicans because it was likely a crime and made the VP look bad, and Democrats because it wasn't enough of a crime and didn't make the VP look bad enough. The shot was an accident, but -- and possibly because -- Cheney had been drinking.
