Maybe. Here is another candidate I know nothing about but made one hell of an ad. I try to remain cynical as a self-defense strategy but the blue wave may indeed be coming. At the very least the dems have people to be excited about even beyond the “fuck trump” platform.
I just watched her debate that was on local news in NYC. Its nice to see someone who has clear stances on issues. She absolutely would be a powerful voice in Congress if she won. Her stances seem to be more about issues affecting people and not just an anti-trump thing. I think if dems really want to win big in November, they will have to go more to the left on key issues involving race, income inequality, gender/LGBTDJRUFJSN, etc. Being a centrist these days doesn't really inspire people anymore and they will need the AA vote to win anything. Earning their support is tough.
lol I liked her until the free public college and federal jobs guarantee nonsense. Good luck selling that in an economy with historically low unemployment sweetheart, even if those numbers are a bit misleading. UBI is a bad idea and that’s a better one than the Humphrey-Hawkins garbage that’s been drummed up since the 70s. In any event, she should still run. Some politicians in MA run completely unopposed, that should never happen.
They run unopposed because Republicans know they don't have a chance in hell. Scott Brown was a fluke, Tea Party-fueled ACA hysteria is what got him in. Why even waste the money? Anyway, Ms. Ocasio is a New York candidate and her message resonates with her particular base. They're not seeing this "historically low unemployment" where they're from.
Even democratic primary challengers is better than running unopposed. That message may resonate, but those are national policies, which is where they need to be sold to mean anything and they aren’t good ideas anyway. Again more power to her, Id rather have young candidates than old ones that don’t know how to question Cuckerberg or even have a remedial understanding of Net Neutrality.
Justice Kennedy is retiring. This should make things interesting. And by "interesting," I mean "a complete shit show."
The news just broke, am I already too late to be IB4 the Republican hypocrisy about not confirming a justice during an election year or nominating a justice that will preserve the balance of the court?
Yes, because "America" is so concerned with the Supreme Court justices they can sometimes name one of them. Unless, by America, you mean, the media.
If RGB cashes in her chips, Samuel Alito becomes the swing vote on the Supreme Court. Samuel motherfucking Alito is supposed to be the "moderate center." We will surely be lost.
