And that’s exactly why the Democrats have to extinguish this rumour that Clinton wants to run for president ...again.... because they will win zero new voters. Hillary Clinton was a loser and is DONE. Both sides need to get over it. More people than ever who voted for Trump are distancing themselves from the fact that world hey did, and if the Dems want to scoop up those undecided votes they should at least put a more likeable face on the ballot than Lucifer.
The problem is that Democrats want a nice face and a charismatic personality. Repubs don’t care. I can’t think of a single experienced democrat who is starting to stand out in any way. They are trying to turn this Ocasio Cortez chick into something big, but she’s too young and her ideas shit the bed as soon as she’s pressed for details. I don’t think Avenatti is a good idea but he seems to be trying to make some noise. And people know him and that he’s one of the “good guys”. By this time, after the 2004 election, and after that DNC speech, Obama was pretty much a shoe-in. There isn’t anyone right now making an impression like that.

Beto O'Rourke is getting a bit of that Obama energy, but he needs to win a Senate race in a Republican state first, which is a tall order, and even if he does I doubt he'll be ready to run for the big chair until 2024 at the earliest.
I agree. He’s running a smart campaign and I will be voting for him. If the turnout is there, he will win. If he wins in 2020 and knocks Ted Cruz out, there will be a major push for him.
No one outside the media (and the conservative media particularly) is pushing Ocasio-Cortez. She's a 28 year old who won an upset primary with low turnout in one of the deepest blue districts in the country. She's not a bellwether for anything. The regular media paid attention because it was an unexpected result, and the conservative media is continuing to pay attention because even they can't keep dragging out Hillary's corpse indefinitely without it smelling of rot.
Booker is very charismatic but he has a spotty record with big pharma companies which makes dem voters angry. He’s only now on the legal weed train. And Diane Warren is a shithead. Whether or not you like Trump, his Pocahontas shit stuck on her. Because she did do that Native American shit and refuses to own it. It’s a stain that she can’t clean.
Elizabeth Warren. She’s just generally a cunt, even a lot of people in MA think so. She’s the definition of an out of touch privileged academic. She pumps her pseudo-socialist bullshit constantly and is horribly uncharismatic.
Fuck Booker’s spotty record. All they have to do is let him talk. While Trump is a babbling, hideous buffoon who said the right things, Booker has the silver tongue to end them all, he’s an articulate and intellectual powerhouse; and he has a laundry list of honestly admirable deeds that he’s accomplished personally. I remember only a couple days after Obama was elected I saw him in an interview and I said “That guy is going to be President.” Despite being infinitely well-read on seemingly everything, he could charm his way out of a sunburn. Also if you listen to him, he’s insanely positive when he talks about his country. He’s a guy who could swing a lot of votes. A smart ballot choice if you ask me. Also Tulsi Gabbard, my second pick. But would you guys elect a Hindu female president?
There might be an ass hat like Kasich who will threaten to run and for what ever reason people always grumble about Mitt Romney doing it too. Putting two spineless centrist, Kasich should just switch parties at this point, up against Trump would be a disaster. I just don't see it happening. The left can shout until their blue in the face that it makes it the party of Trump. I honestly don't see this, Trumpism isn't a long term political force. He hasn't put out any long term vision for anyone else to follow as far as coherent party platform or strategy. If his endorsements don't provide dividends or he loses in 2020 then the Republicans will be back to the same mess they were in in 2016. Your average republican congressmen are scared shitless of pissing off the base that Trump was able to rev up to win a highly unlikely election to HillDog.
Same. I both like him and despise Cruz. I'd vote for a stray dog if meant a vote against cruz. Beto is a good public speaker and seems like a genuine guy.
I just realized I meant 2018, not 2020. But if Beto does win in November, they might try to rush him through like Obama.
It would be a win for both parties, because getting rid of Cruz is like cutting off a tumour. The GOP doesn’t need tumours, they need statesmen who rep for business like they used to.
The way other senators feel about Cruz is hilarious. Franken was quoted as saying "I think I like Ted Cruz more than most and I hate Ted Cruz." Lindsay Graham said "if you killed Ted Cruz and the trial was in the Senate you'd never be convicted."
Watching McCain, in 2008, realize what his party had become, and what was being asked of him to get their support, was one of the sadder moments I've witnessed in politics. He almost seemed relieved when he finally lost that election.
And least he didn’t make McCain’s death about himself LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL: ...fucking SERIOUSLY. He could screw up the Lord’s Prayer if you gave him half the chance to do it.
