Maybe, maybe not. When word got around to gop higher ups, they tried to accelerate the hearing. It’s pretty fucking dirty. They obviously don’t care. Once he’s on the bench, he’s on and he will be a reliable conservative decider. That’s all they want. It’s just pretty fucking ironic to me that a man who was instrumental in grilling Clinton over his sexual behaviors is now going to burn for his. I say drag him.
This was just posted by Avenatti tonight. I hope it’s true and he’s not just whoring for more attention. He has a way of inserting himself into every single situation because he wants to be the president. But those allegations are crazy.
I would love nothing more than to see a group of old politicians attempt to grill someone about the definition of "train."
"Mr Kavanaugh, is it true that you referred to one of your classmates at Georgetown Prep as 'Thomas the Skank Engine'?"
This is their only chance to get a judge across before the midterms. They feel there is a real danger of losing the senate. I think they already know the house will flip. Trump nominating a moderate will never fly with the donors. It’s Kavanaugh or bust.
I would say this definitely ups the game a bit, as Avenatti has a rep for having solid evidence before going public. This is a great play by him to get an official statement by Kavanaugh on the record before he exposes his evidence, if any. I see five scenarios: Kavanaugh is legit innocent so comes out with a firm denial for all of Avenatti's questions. Kavanaugh is legit innocent but comes out pleading the 5th. While I think that this would be the smart thing to do, it looks really, really bad to the general public as pleading the 5th is now interpreted as saying "I'm guilty but don't want to talk about it". Kavanaugh has some shit in his past, but is fully onboard with the GOP push so says, "don't know what you're talking about" and hopes to weather the storm. Kavanaugh has some shit in his past but pleads the 5th, or just refuses to answer the questions. The process is manipulated so that he never sees the questions in the first place. We'll see how it goes.
Left leaning voter turnout is way up for things like special elections, and primaries. Conservative turnout is about the same it’s always been. Combined with much lower voter enthusiasm on their side and you could see some real surprises come November. Add in trade wars from tarriffs, lackluster wage growth even with record tax cuts, and major companies still laying off workers and shipping jobs overseas. There’s a real chance they could lose. Beto did pretty well the other night. Cruz did the things Cruz does best. Speaks similar to a mega church pastor and spews fetid garbage. But I think people are finally seeing through Cruz. Beto could squeak out a win.
Even the NYT won't touch the latest accuser's story: "The Times had interviewed several dozen people over the past week in an attempt to corroborate her story, and could find no one with firsthand knowledge. Ms. Ramirez herself contacted former Yale classmates asking if they recalled the incident and told some of them that she could not be certain Mr. Kavanaugh was the one who exposed himself."
https://mont.thesentinel.com/2018/09/24/supreme-court-nominee-kavanaugh-faces-more-allegations/ Now up to 4.
And why not a little more holy shit for this Monday. https://www.axios.com/rod-rosenstei...ump-cf761f4c-fca3-4794-92d4-a56c9e32ff43.html
I have a feeling that's actually #3...it sounds like the one Avenatti was referencing. EDIT: My bad, the article does say 4.
Some channels say he's resigning, some channels say he's refusing and will force Trump to fire him. The chips aren't done falling on this one.
If that's truly the case, it's a smart move on Rosenstein's part. If he's fired, the Vacancies Act doesn't apply and Trump can't just name his replacement without confirmation first. Still keeps Mueller shielded for a little longer.
