They're the ones making the accusation, that automatically requires them to be more credible. Its not his responsibility to prove he didn't do something. Its not a court of law, but that the way it should logically work regardless. She couldn't give a time or place it occurred, produce any corroborating witnesses or give any specific details. How does that make it credible? Forget that the fact that its Trump's nominee and you hate him because of that factor, does this really seem like a strong claim? I have no idea if he did it. If more information comes out and it lends to him being guilty, then he should withdrawal or be voted down. 100%. But if it doesnt, I dont see the basis on which he shouldnt be confirmed.
And Avenatti delivers. Here is the sworn statement of his client who also currently holds and has held multiple security clearances.
That’s good on his part, since 4Chan has been desperately scrambling to discredit him for the past 48 hours.
I’d heard about that and was wondering if he possibly got secretly duped by them. But I feel he’s too smart for that.
Somebody must have dosed my morning acid with something. If this circus couldn’t get anymore mind bogglingly fucked up.
You mean the part where Trump picked a fight with Avenatti? Yeah, because that has ended well for him in the past.
If all that is true,* that's despicable, and Kavanaugh should not be confirmed as a SCOTUS. I assume the statute of limitations has run out on all these crimes? Otherwise, he and Mark Judge should be charged and more fully investigated, as soon as possible. I wish that she and the other girls she mentions had been able to come forward back when it happened, so these men would not have been able to reach the positions they currently hold. Doing what they're accused of is horrible, especially that they were able to repeat it over and over. If it's true, I wish Ms. Swetnick had been able to come forward before he got into Yale, before he worked in the White House and before he was appointed as a federal judge. Has there been anything about why nothing came up back in the 80s? Every weekend of all these house parties, with that many people, it seems more than a handful of witnesses would've been available back then. *I say "if it's true," not because I have any reason to think her statements aren't credible, but because every time I think I've seen the most unbelievable thing, something else tops it.
Multiple dudes, multiple times, against multiple women has to meet that standard, I guess? For what she detailed, anyway. If it were one guy, one girl, over 35 years ago, he said / she said, I can see a prosecutor not wanting to pursue that, since the evidence could be sketchy and stale. But, with this, wouldn't the local DA take that on and make a name for themselves? To bring all these guys down? It can't be that hard to track down all those boys and get one of them to flip. The whole thing seems odd. Is it possible Kavanaugh (and maybe Judge) is being confused for someone else? The only reason I say that, is because as explosive as her details are, that clearly involved A LOT of people, if true, I figured Kavanaugh would've just bowed out. He could've done the ol' "strain on my family" thing and withdrawn his name. It just doesn't seem likely that that many people can keep a secret like that for that long. I am guessing if it's true, that this weekend, one of the news channels will feature the male siluouetted figure, with voice changer, giving full details of he and his friends doing these things? Or, are they all CEOs and government officials, so they won't say anything?
A prosecutor will only bring charges if he or she feels they have a very good chance of conviction, and conviction requires a much higher bar of evidence than merely "let's not give this guy a lifetime on the Supreme Court, yeah?" does. Unless Avenatti's client has something rock solid in the way of evidence, nothing I've seen from the other two seems like it'd be enough to convince a prosecutor to move forward after all this time.
Do y’all think Avenatti is gonna make a run for President in 2020? And if so, do you think he has a chance?
What if, just as a random hypothesis, he was paid off to go through with this to the end in order to then help Trump as the end game? He couldn't just get paid and then not follow through... I mean, there were all those credit card debts "for seasons tickets" that reek of shit that got paid out that make no sense... it'd be interesting to do some forensic accounting around all that stuff. I mean, how hard can it be to show a few large transactions for seasons tickets on your CC statement, followed by the money transfer from your friends, that were then applied to offset the costs?
I can't tell if he's seeding that just to tweak Trump's nipples, or if he actually means it. That said, I don't want Avenatti as the Democratic candidate in 2020, but I do want whoever is the candidate to learn from him. The way to deal with Trump is to hit him in the mouth, then hit him in the throat, then kick him while he's down. You don't let up ever, you don't give him the benefit of the doubt ever, you don't assume he's acting in good faith ever. At every opportunity you call him a liar, you call him weak, you call him incompetent, you call him a criminal.
I love it. Avenatti is twisting the knife and that fat fuck can only sit there and take it. And he just keeps stabbing: “You consider your best and brightest to be Cohen and Giuliani.” He sums up Trump’s intelligence perfectly there.
He's trialing it in the court of public opinion. Even if he doesn't "win" this one, he's at minimum set the stage by biasing the public for the next. Avenatti is playing the long game, and whether you like him or hate him, you have to appreciate the strategy.
Make him Attourney General instead. He would be the most honest and likeable one for at least three decades.
Is he? Or is he just using that as semi-justification for the tariffs? Not saying it can't be both, but I tend to think that with all the latest UN shit talking he's been doing, it's more to do with the trade wars than the midterms.
And then what, they simply “won’t count”? I’m surprised he hasn’t declared himself President For Life yet. After all, he isn’t stupid. Just every single other person in the UN is.
