He is the complete laughing stock of the world. He doesn't like it. His NPD makes him incapable of accepting this reality. Same with the Mueller investigation. Giving any ground that any outside influence helped makes him feel that he would be completed invalidating his win. His concept of reality and truth are so skewed. His only instinct is to lie and to save face.
This is just him muddying the waters. Countries have used targeted tariffs in trade wars forever. The EU did it by targeting bourbon (made in Kentucky, home state of Mitch McConnell) and Harley Davidson (headquartered in Paul Ryan's district). The goal is to make the consequences of the trade dispute felt by your opponent's constituents. This has gone on forever, but suddenly it's "election interference" because Trump sees an opportunity to muddy the waters on what that term means in order to undermine the Russia investigation. It's just more of Republicans claiming to the be the victim of things they are guilty of.
She hasn’t named them (yet). She could only remember the two guys that happened to be at those parties that also happen to be in the news lately. Those parties being the gang rape parties in “the DC area” that she apparently kept attending. Since they occurred in DC, the FBI could actually investigate them since it’s Federal jurisdiction for regular law enforcement.
I agree with you, but since then they ought to be able to get a lot more evidence. These kids didn't manufacture rape drugs in their basement, somebody sold them to them. There are lots of yearbooks and calendars floating around. Turn over all those rocks. If it was so widely known what was going on, then I am sure somebody tried to file charges back then, it got quietly swept away, etc, but there would've been a police report or complaint, young cop now retired could talk.
We'll see how the Avenatti client pans out. If she can bring specific dates, individuals, and corroborating witnesses to the table then we may yet see an indictment. If she can't, it's highly likely we won't.
As an aside to there being no police reports, the way she states things is that this was apparently common knowledge in their social circle. But there were no angry boyfriends, brothers, fathers, or friends? I know where I grew up if shit like this had been going on there would've been bodies disappeared into the woods.
This question is not intended to be offensive you, but how wealthy were you growing up and what type of people were you surrounded by? The social circles of these kids are typically on a different level. Lots of money, lots of connections, no one gets in trouble. Its possible word got around about stuff like this happening, but no one wanted anything bad to ruin a promising young man's life. Being rich and white in a time before social media and cell phones was the ultimate privilege. Look at that kid from Ft. Worth who was 16, drunk and drove into a disabled vehicle full of people on the side of the road killing all of them. He got nothing more than a slap on the wrist. He still fled the country and still only got a slap on the wrist. His family was wealthy as fuck. Theres a different set of rules for them.
That's not exactly true. She never says that. Her statement only addresses the 2 people in the news that are the focus of these proceedings, which is reasonable and expected. For all we know there may be other statements that have been drafted for other players, and nothing says that she can't or won't bring them up in other investigations or interviews. To posit that she somehow conveniently remembered or manufactured memories of these two because it was convenient for her and the "cause" is pretty disingenuous. The fact that she's willing to put that signed statement out there, along with her picture, and is willing to address this in public, full on, with the GOP and their supporters immediately and instantly hating her (as can be seen in this thread), should be commended.
Or, you know, Brock Turner. The guy who was caught raping a woman in an alleyway, but was let go cause "why ruin the guy's life". The only silver lining I'm potentially seeing in this particular shit show is that it highlights why women don't come forward more often The *third* accuser in this circus of shit writes up a statement (on penalty of perjury) and puts all of her personal and professional life on the line and the peanut gallery still chimes in with "But did it reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaly happen?!"
I can see the next election's attack ads already being made for people like Lindsey Graham and John Cornyn as they openly call these people liars. Its really a no win because they can be painted as "pro sexual assault". Even if its unfair, them trying to get this guy on the bench so quickly and desperately in the face of credible accusations at best, makes them look callous towards victims.
trump is holding a press conference by himself about the allegations. He's imploding on live tv. This is glorious and embarrassing and awesome and sad all at the same time. **edit** He just suggested that if George Washing were to run today he would have had accusations against him "because he had some shady things in his past, didn't he?"
I know, Im being glib. I wonder now that it’s a signed affidavit whether or not she can be compelled to testify by the Senate. I think she could be if it was a regular court proceeding.
Didn’t Avenatti already state that she will not be available for an interview? That was part of the NYTs report on it, so I don’t know if that means by the press or Senate or what. She said she would appear before the Senate Committee, but he wants to know if they are going to do an investigation before she does. How could they do an investigation without talking to her?
I believe he meant no interviews by the media, and he's requested they respect her privacy... but they (Avenatti and her) are calling for a full-on investigation by the FBI, which would definitely include interviews, etc.
Republicans: Democrats will make up rape accusations against anyone Also Republicans: George Washington was a rapist Shit is weird.
And an allegation of physical assault against a woman. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/ncna913581?__twitter_impression=true This one was submitted to the SJC anonymously but claims there are about 4 witnesses.
