Yeah, I personally don't give a shit about anonymous allegations... too easy to fabricate and impossible to cross-examine. The exact opposite of Avenatti's client.
Well... isn't this even more interesting stuff... Could be that they are trying to ram Kavanaugh through because in October the SCOTUS is reviewing the Separate Sovereigns Doctrine. http://www.scotusblog.com/case-files/cases/gamble-v-united-states/?wpmp_switcher=desktop This would basically remove the State's ability to prosecute crimes after a presidential pardon.
The significant drop off in credibility, provability, and reliability of this compared to the statement provided today almost makes me wonder if this is some sort of extremely desperate attempt to discredit the other accusers. "Well this accusation was baseless! How many others are too?!" But who knows?
There was another one today, I don't remember which outlet was reporting it. I believe it was a call to a senator's office reporting a friend of theirs being assaulted by two drunk guys named Bret and Mark on a boat sometime in the 80's. EDIT: Here's the link.
Yeah it's up to five now. Of course there's no way to know which -- if any -- are accurate. But this just doesn't look good, for either party nor anyone involved. The only winners here are those who take it from a pure entertainment standpoint and eat popcorn while they watch the world burn. So I'll take that road...... dear god what has this country come to?
Once upon a time abortion was legalized and half the country vowed to make it illegal again even if they had to destroy the country to do it. And uh... they did.
Did anyone watch that? Here's the C-SPAN link for anyone interested... https://www.c-span.org/video/?452067-1/president-trump-calls-allegations-judge-kavanaugh-false
Sadly, I watched it. I felt dirty and confused and angry and sad all at the same time. As I've said before, even though I don't agree with it, I still understand why people voted for trump. But after that, I simply cannot understand why anyone would continue to defend or support him.
It was the ramblings of a crazy person. https://twitter.com/MJGWrites/status/1045082053010550785/video/1
Who let him into Gary Busey’s medicine cabinet? That’s the fucking President saying those things. Could somebody please explain, besides the clothes, what’s the difference now between him and some moon-eyed, urine-stained methhead screaming ramblings through a bullhorn on a downtown street corner? Stable genius.
I can't really envision a scenario where she's confusing him with someone else. I was already leaning towards guilty on the second accuser, but yes, even this seems odd. It kind of made me wonder about something I posted before. I can't see what these women would have to say relevant to Ford, or the second accuser, but how the fuck do you get 65 women to write a letter vouching for you when you're known socially as the guy who used to drug and rape them? I mean, there's Stockholm syndrome and then there's that. The whole fratty rape ritual has been a feminist fantasy for a long time, and it often ends up looking like the UVA rape on campus because getting a group of guys together eager to do something like that, no matter what age, is not impossible, but it's pretty fucking rare. It's not that I have much faith in humanity, I really don't, but I have to assume we're going to get a better explanation than they got away with this because they were rich.
Except he's got a point. Her statement had a laundry list of the worst misogynist behaviors laid out almost check list fashion. Almost too good to be true. That doesn't get your spidey senses tingling just a little? Detailed descriptions of misogynist behavior, except she can't describe anything or anyone else(besides the other lightning rod in the equation) and no one else seems to remember dozens of parties involving dozens, if not hundreds, of people that amounted to big rape factories? Hopefully since this supposedly occurred in DC which is a federal district the FBI will have jurisdiction over investigating the claims. The most serious of the accusations, in nature, should be litigated out well beyond the results of Kavanaugh's vote. I get the feeling if he's voted down or withdrawn, like after Roy Moore lost, you'll never hear from the accusers again.
Wow. I am shocked that NBC would be the first ones to announce such a thing. Is this the one of first guys in history to say: “You’ve got it wrong, I’M the real rapist!!” ? Seriously, did Charlie Kaufman write this shit? How much weirder is it going to get?
It also turns out she’s a bit of a psycho. Apparently her ex (a registered Democrat) tried filing a restraining order against her for threatening his family. Avenatti said it’s inappropriate to go digging around in someone’s past for something that happened years ago... I saw a satire article that said Kavanaugh is planning to present his Star Wars bedsheets to prove he was a virgin in high school. However this turns out, it’s going to either strengthen the #MeToo movement or destroy it completely.
Did anyone else catch this in Avenatti 's client's statement? She said that she attended parties with Kavanaugh and Judge from 1981-1983. She claims she was drugged and raped at one of those parties in 1982. Uh...so she went to parties where she knew women were being drugged and raped, has it happen to her, and then continues to go to those parties? That doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Also she sued her former employer for sexual harassment about 15 years ago. Guess who her attorney was? The woman representing the professor. I'm not sure that really means anything, but it's an odd coincidence.
For anyone interested in watching online - here is the link to C-SPAN's livestream. https://www.c-span.org/networks/?channel=c-span-2 You'll have to login with a cable provider, though. Not sure on a link for Canada folk.
