I am sure Jon Stewart will make an appearance somewhere. I agree with Net, congratulations Trump. I did not vote for him, I do not care at all for him, but he did pull off the greatest political upset I can recall. Remember, I am old as fuck.

I'm seeing a lot of hot takes about how this was a "rejection of the establishment" and a principled vote against the "Washington machine," and not, y'know, an idiotic choice made in the limbic brains of morons. I'm sorry, but you don't "reject the establishment" when voting for the President, the position that most needs a steady and seasoned hand, and then go and re-elect the exact same Congress in the races where you should be rejecting the establishment.

Well we weren't going to have hundreds of little Trumps up ending the state races. Goes to the two party thing again. The only real chances are the few Rand Pauls and Bernie Sanders that are more hardline philosophically but working within our two party system.

This newswoman on NBC is about to cry. I need to sleep.

Gee whiz how is the GOP going to survive after winning the House, Senate, and the Presidency? The Democrats have themselves to blame for this. They allowed their primaries to be rigged. There was barely any competition as they made way for her coronation. One of the most qualified candidates in recent memory lost to a man with no political experience that lives in a golden skyscraper that bears his name. She lost the rust belt in the exact same way she lost it in the primaries. I didn't vote for him, but I didn't end up voting for her either. But we just move forward and that's it.

Also, what the fuck is up with the statistical sampling? The 538 is a laughing stock now.

    Who had it right?

I read that even the internal RNC polling had Trump losing handily (I think, too lazy to go find it now).

This is getting old real quick. Did voters have magic time vision and could see the 2016 Democratic primary back in 2014 when the Democrats got slaughtered? Or 2010? The problems within the Democratic party go deeper than the 2016 primaries.

Yup. The Democrats did this to themselves, and now they get a big shit sandwich for at least four years.

Sanders would have beat Trump, he was clearly the better candidate but the DNC wasn't having it and the bullied and Cheated into the nominee.

And look how that worked out. You got your corrupt fuck of a nominee front and centre, all that money, power and cheating and connections and she still lost. Which means she sucks. If anything, this demonstrates a few people's original point on here that Hillary Clinton is not cut out for this.

At least 538 gave him a better chance than most of all the other polls did...

Trump won't be as bad as you believe. I hope that helps people collect their minds.

If it was as awful as you think there would be far less people who voted for him. America is better than you want to admit.

This election should have been a landslide and it would have been if the democratic party had the sense to choose any nominee other than the absolute worst available.

So what then? Vote Republican? I already said a long time ago I would've happily voted for Bernie had he won the Democratic nomination, and he won Minnesota so it's not like I contributed to him losing the nomination. As long as the Democratic party presents a platform I (mostly) agree with while the GOP serves up shit and the independent parties serve up comedy, I'm going to continue voting Democrat and I won't apologize for it.

The level of hysteria in my office this afternoon was actually quite funny. So much misinformation around how the US system works ( a lot of people down here seem to think it works like Australian parliamentary system for some fucking reason).

Not sure how this will all affect Aus at the moment but I'm fairly certain it won't be all the doom and gloom I heard this afternoon... Our share market took a fucking dive though but we'll see how long that all lasts.

What an upset though... I personally Dont like trump (as a person or a politician) or republican policies in general (but I'm not American so my opinion doesn't really matter there) but fuck me what a way to end almost 2 years of the most interesting political drama I've ever witnessed. I still can't quite believe it but kudos to the man for pulling it off.

At least y'all get Lisa Simpson for president in 4 years though

The platform was bullshit. What don't you get? If you can't see it then that's exactly what I look forward to over the next four years.

I'm tired of the rationalizing from the left. I sent my piece of the nuke to DC because you still don't get it.
