I would say that anyone who backed up a story, who didn't have an ulterior motive, would possibly be a corroborating witness. Possibly. We are talking 35 year old accusations here so it's kind of an iffy proposition.

Dr. Ford named 4 people that were supposedly there when Kavanaugh assaulted her, every single one said it didn't happen. That doesn't mean it didn't happen, but it does mean that no one else can say it did. That would be corroborating evidence.

There have been corroborating accusations, but how credible are those? One disappeared immediately, another admitted that she was black out drunk and only recovered the memory after talking to her attorney for days.If you choose to take those as credible, fine. From where I sit, they're bullshit.

I couldn't find Trump's name anywhere in there.

Look, I hate Trump. I always have and I've made that point plenty of times in this thread. It pisses me off that somehow I end up being defensive of him because folks post left talking points. I'm sure there are plenty of others like me.

Trump is a fucking asshole and damn near the worst thing that ever happened to this country. Having to defend that asshole is what pushes me further right. But...the whole #resist thing is nuts. Folks don't care if it's in their best interest, they just care about fuck the other side. I can't get behind that. On either side.

I don’t think it’s fair to lump us in with the #resist people. I just think the most obvious answer is the correct one. There are just far too many coincidences between Russians and Trump people and so much dirty garbage. And I don’t believe in coincidences. But we will eventually find out everything at the end of the investigation. We can’t keep saying “why is there no evidence?” Or “why haven’t we seen the evidence?” and then conclude there’s nothing there. We can’t do that because none of us know what Mueller knows. To conclude there must be nothing is erroneous.

I think it will go far beyond just Russia stuff. I think it will probably include other countries working together.

Just so I'm clear on your position...you believe that a foreign entity rigged our election against a party that rigged their own primaries? Doesn't that concern you?

I'm not saying the GOP is any better and has probably done the same thing, but damn man...blind partisanship is what brought our country to this place we;re at right now. I like to think this country and our people can do better then where we are right now.

He's got 5 votes on the supreme court to authorize it and then 5 votes for the cover up. That's how these things happen.

Of course, that assumes Kavanaugh didn't already gamble away his supreme court seat at the craps table. It is a Saturday.

Now that Brett Kavanaugh has been confirmed, I've officially lost all faith in the US government, at all levels.

And to think I finally (finally!!!) got medical clearance to sign up for one of the armed forces.

I cannot and will not serve under this dear leader. Rocket man trump, go fuck yourself.

You voted for the racist, compulsive liar, wack job with no experience or ability who weaponized political dirt hacked by Russians not for blind partisanship, but out of sacrificial duty for the good of the country?

Yup. That makes sense. Totally checks out.

“Rigging” an election is a loaded term. I think a lot of illegal shit happened. I think they used foreign help. I think there was a Russian effort to manipulate people into voting GOP and other 3rd parties and I think a lot of what was done, was done in exchange for favorable treatment of some sort. Trumps complete failure to even acknowledge any interference in the face of his own intelligence agencies telling him otherwise says a lot. The shear amount of indictments and guilty pleas tells me I’m probably right. If I’m wrong, I will accept that as well.

Ironically the bet was on his own confirmation. He took the under and paid dearly.

Wow Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez sounds dumber than Sarah Palin did in interviews, and that’s really saying something.

Ehh, I’m not sure how keen on her the non-uber progressive Democrats are anyway. I’m sure that card will always be played because she’s 1) brown and 2) a woman, but stupid is stupid.

She’s cute and represents her district in New York well but I think they elevated her to national status way too quickly. Any time she’s pressed for more explanation on her ideas, she shits the bed. Let her be a champion for minorities and women, but she’s too young in her political career to be representing a whole party. Even when a lot of the party is moving left.

She is 28 years old and has not even been elected to any office yet. How about we give her some time and experience in the job first before ripping her a new one. What I know is she has had some pretty intense life experiences for someone so young, seems to be an extremely hard worker and ran a very efficient, smart, low budget campaign so far. Those are traits that I would like to see in any candidate regardless of party.

In fairness, I *think* a lot of people who voted for trump did so because they were tired of the politically correct bullshit and they were even more tired of the current political climate and the democrats leaning toward blatant socialism. I looked at trump then how I look at kavanaugh now: I agree with his politics, but his behavior makes him unfit for office.

I'm not sure attacking anyone at this point is going to do any good. Our national embarrassment is there whether we like it or not, so might as well start talking about the best options to neuter him in November.

She can say like-like-like 50,000 times in every interview, but you still have to give her credit for unseating one of the most entrenched house reps in a district that the mainstream party really didn't want to lose. She's part of the justice democrats grassroots movement, and the national attention she's getting for her win is a pretty deal for them. Most won their primaries in solid R districts, and don't have much of a chance at getting through on Nov 6, but 26 primary victories still isn't bad for their first showing. Ilhan Omar for MN-05 is a shoe-in and is going to trigger people so hard. She'll be wearing her hijab into the lower chambers where she'll be fighting for LGBTQIA+ (a magic dragon???) rights. I so, so hope she ends up on one of the homeland security committees.

If I’m not mistaken, they redistricted that area changing the demographics considerably. I give her credit for beasting a primary, but Joe Crowley did not represent that area appearance-wise quite like she does.

They redistricted in 2012. I'm sure the demographics shift helped her, but she won spending 1/15 of what Crowley did. With the starting point she was at it's hard to get people to even know who you are, let alone win. Crowley is staying on the Nov 6th ballot for the working families party. He claims he can't take his name off the ballot (despite the working families party requesting he do so) because it would constitute election fraud. Good riddance.

Something about having to establish residency in a different place.
