Same here but I've never understood it. It's prob just inertia at this point, the same way the ATF and DEA are separate agencies instead of just being divisions within the FBI.
Some insurance policies actually do offer it as an add-on, but I've always got it separately as well. Most decent jobs offer medical/dental/vision/life/accident/etc as a part of a package, even though some or all might be separate policies. I was just putting it out as an example to point out that if you're stuck with the ACA and really want full coverage you get those ass rape premiums and deductibles and then you still have to go shopping.
It's really not. The original plan was much better, but Ted Kennedy's death followed by Scott Brown's election took away the supermajority that would've let them pass it. So they had to compromise; the plan as enacted was basically written by the insurance companies, and you know who they look out for.
I think it’s because the ATF was part of the Treasury Dept until 9/11. The government doesn’t like people drinking when it’s illegal or not paying the government taxes when it’s legal but bootlegged.
Yeah, I remember when insurance companies started running ads in favor of the ACA thinking, "Well this plan is clearly fucked."
Is there a good website or news report that could answer a couple ACA questions I have? I have a couple questions that I am curious about, but I am not interested in a political debate about it or biased answers, I just need some facts. Everywhere I look falls into one of three categories: Repeal Obamacare, it's ruining everything!; Here's why Obamacare works and why we should keep it!; Buy insurance from us, we're awesome! (I was going to ask this in the "Can somebody help me" thread, but I didn't want to interrupt the gate discussion.)
https://twitter.com/notlarrysabato/status/1053023848772378625 I wrote out at least five jokes here and none of them felt more ridiculous than the ad itself. The one thing I will add is this: Spoiler One of the largest donors to this "Black Americans for the President's Agenda" PAC is a wealthy white Scientologist from Santa Barbara
That shit sounded like it should come with an upbeat sitcom jingle. Almost makes me wish I was on twitter again. But not nearly enough.
That ad is hilarious. I can't believe anyone, anywhere would think that was a good idea. Also for a PAC called "Black Americans for the President's Agenda", looking at their donor list, there seems to be a distinct lack of seemingly ethnic names.
Hopefully this can take a turn for the better: have everyone turn on the royal family and finally exterminate the sociopathic fucks. Everyone but Trump, of course. He seems to have tongue plunged deeply into Saudi ass.
Yeah, I dont know if offing the Saudi royal family is going to be better. It might trigger the war thats been brewing for a decade. Saudi military operations in Yemen for the last 2 years or more or less practice for the battle for Sunni hearts and minds with Turkey and regional domination with Iran. Trump's best bet might actually be to do nothing. Im not necessarily advocating for a realpolitik approach, but technically it was a Saudi citizen killed by Saudi forces ordered by Saudi leadership on Saudi territory.
Nobody needs to be shoving opinions or ANYTHING in the direction of the Middle East. For once let them stomp their own snakes.
I really liked the plan Obama campaigned on, but that never came close to passing. The ACA very narrowly passed in spite of Kennedy's death because the senate passed it before the special election. The democrats recently proposed a medicare for all plan that Trump, somewhat hilariously wrote an op-ed about[he basically calls it a bill to make sure old people die faster]. The dems tend to really promote this stuff when they're out of power and can't actually do any of it. In 2020 the republicans are probably going to get slaughtered so we'll see then. I'm guessing they mysteriously forget their fervent support.
