CNN now projecting dems take the house, and Beto loses Texas. Good thing for dems, beto kept it really close so watch for his name in 2020. He's fairly moderate so he would certainly make it interesting. Though I am interested how/why they would project it so early (every major news outlet is calling it now), when only a small percentage of the big counties has been reported. Namely, Harris County.
This city, while being 4 million people if you include our suburbs is heavily oil and gas and big business. Lotta rich people out here. Our wealthy people are more conservative while coastal wealth tends to lean more liberal. Plus, a lot of our population is dirt poor and probably not even registered to vote. I’m not even getting into our deeply Christian conservative types who’s heads are so far up Jesus’ ass, they wouldn’t know how to vote for their own interests if they wanted to.
At this point I'm convinced it's just a ratings thing. Race to be first, and if you're wrong you say it's a "surprise!!" and keep your viewers engaged. Win/win. Our press is not about being right, it's about being first. Gawker has taught them nothing. Be first, issue corrections later.
Also, what is Joe Manchin? He's a Democrat who can't be beat in a state that goes Republican by >40 points. He votes with the Dems on the most liberal issues, and with the Reps on the most conservative issues. He's an enigma wrapped in a mystery wrapped in what I can only imagine is a coal mine of buried votes.
I just read that a whole bunch of votes in Broward couldn’t be electronically submitted so they are driving the data somewhere in a flash drive. So very Florida.
That florida proposition where felons can vote passed. They made exceptions for murders and people convicted of sex crimes, because fuck them and their crimes. But other than that, evil stuff like tax evasion and money laundering are now cool I guess.
That’s a big deal because a potential of over a million new votes. That could change national elections, assuming the new demographic of potential voters actually registers to vote.
I also read that it’s like 20% of the black population in Florida. And I have a sneaking suspicion how those people who just got their ability to vote back, are going to vote in the future.... It’s fairly easy to say that this one “small” thing could sway local, state, and national elections for decades to come. I’m against the right of felons to vote, but I sure as hell am loving what it’s gonna do to national politics.
Fucking hell... Kansas sure went all out... elected a lesbian, Native American, MMA fighter to congress: https://www.mmafighting.com/2018/11...ma-fighter-sharice-davids-elected-to-congress Good on them!
A lesbian, Native American, and mma fighter walk into a bar.... *edit* oh shit that’s all the same person!!! And she has an impressive resume too. Speaking of things that are impressive, now that the dems have subpoena power, trump better get those tax returns ready!!!
Why are you against people who have paid their debt to society for their crimes, having a say in their government?
