I quit reading after the first sentence. "I think it was the next governor of Florida (please, Black Jesus,) who said that a “hit dog will holler.” I'm sure the article is not biased at all.
The Root loves giving Trump shit, but you can read his rant in its unadulterated form on Twitter. Boy ain't right.
He was a client of some sort of Michael Cohen’s. Knowing who Cohen is, makes me think that what he was doing for Hannity may have been less than legal.
Oh joy, Mueller is about to release something big again? Finally actual evidence of Trump and Putin colluding? It didn't happen the first 400 times, but I'm sure this is it. Yeah, that was in reference to his opponent saying he wasn't racist. So if you say you're not racist it's proof that you're racist... or something. Dude is an idiot.
That's what I chose to do instead of reading someone's opinion that I'm sure pretty much boiled down to: "He says he didn't do it which proves he did it."
Yeah I didn't read the opinion part of it, but it was nice that they had all the tweets there in full and in order. Those tweets make him look ridiculous enough. It reads like a 20 year old virgin (sorry, "incel") armchair psychoanalyzing why girls never like good guys. You don't need commentary for him to not sound presidential.
Don't know about comradery, but legal support. Since nobody mentioned this, I thought I would. It's interesting. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2018/11/14/media/cnn-lawsuit-support/index.html
I think that the press corps are hitting their breaking points, and the behaviour of the reporters isn't necessarily "bad behaviour" all unto itself, but the manifestation of the ever-growing frustration they feel being belittled and lied to and shut out. I think every President up until now has appreciated the role that a free press plays in a democracy, but Trump just looks at it through is narcissistic eyes and has no problems reacting as he is... and he probably legitimately feels that there's nothing wrong with what he's doing. I think that this CNN reporter is the first to crack publicly, but I'm sure almost all of them are feeling the same, and are wanting to push back as a cohesive unit.
This Gulen story isn't getting a ton of press coverage (yet?) but Holy Shit this might be the worst thing Trump has done. It's not an exaggeration to say that the Trump Administration is considering or considered abetting the murder of a US permanent resident in cold blood in order to help Saudi Arabia get out of trouble for their own cold blooded murder.
Well, it seems that a Judge ordered the White House to return Acosta's press pass... https://www.cnn.com/2018/11/16/media/cnn-trump-lawsuit-hearing/index.html It'll be interesting to see how Trump et al handle this ruling.
Lou Dobbs is already losing his shit on twitter, accusing the judge (who is Trump appointed) as being a "farcical excuse" for a judge, and ignoring the fact that his own employer was on Acosta's side. He's also missing the nuance that the current court order was based on 5th Amendment grounds and didn't address the 1st Amendment claims.
But you cannot have a democracy without a free press. That sometimes entails a president putting on their big boy panties and dealing with questions they don't like, rather than spouting off inside a fish bowl. I don't like Acosta. I think he was grandstanding and his peers should have given him some shit for it. But they should have done it, not our dear orange leader. I like that Fox et. al. joined in on the suit. Because what will happen if (when) trump doesn't win re-election and the next president is someone who doesn't share their viewpoints? The shoe could have easily been on the other foot, and what trump did with Acosta would have set a horrible precedent.
Or, he could have been talked shit to by Trump for the 500th time and was finally calling him out on it. Sure, if you look at it in the 15 second clip that made the rounds, it looks like he was just being an asshole, but it seems to have been slowly building up to that over time. It's not like anyone else is really standing up to the bullshit press sessions that have been going on. Trump doesn't want to just spin the message, he wants to totally control it, and ignores shit he doesn't like. Or lashes out at shit he doesn't like by making personal attacks. As much as I don't like Acosta, I like the fact that he pushed back a bit. In the whole scheme of things, he's still behaving a shitload better than Trump is.
I behaved really well today. I didn't murder anyone!! I'm curious to see how everything plays out once the House is seated. I know there's (finally) going to be consequential push back against trump, but I'm just curious as to what extent and what it'll look like. These press conferences are basically trump propaganda. They're blatant lies and spinning half-facts into a world view palatable to those who wear MAGA hats to formal gatherings and carry tiki torches in a threatening manner. I'm shocked no one has called him out on this yet. And not in the Acosta manner, I mean in the manner of the entire press corps walking out. Or everyone asking the same question until they get an honest answer.
If you compare the way Acosta behaves to the way I would behave if I were in the White House press pool, he's a god damn saint.
I would just start making the “crazy” sign with my finger every time sanders starts talking. Beating my recorder against my head. Rolling my eyes in a painfully visible way.
I'm pretty sure I'd open every question with "Just to clarify yet again, are you retarded or do you think we are?"
This is what they should do, every time Drumpf or SHS tell a provable lie from the podium. Just get up and go, or hammer down on clarifying questions until the spin stops. National-level journalism today has devolved into letting your subject spout off whatever in the name of access.
That was awesome... he was genuinely shocked that he couldn't just make shit up and then gloss over it and have everyone forget about it. Personally, I think that the Press should start to intentionally misinterpret Trump to his face. Trump: "The sky is blue." Press: "OK, so you're saying the sky is red." "No, I said blue." "Magenta... got it. But if the sky is magenta..." "I said blue".
