They must know that another Trump SC appointment is grounds for open rebellion from the new Dem house. Now what can the house majority actually DO about it, I don't know. If it's someone like Kavanaugh I imagine they'd bury him/her in investigative committees all the way to Jan 2021.

There’s not a whole the dem house can do considering they don’t get to vote. They will tantrum. They will say that a president under multiple criminal investigations shouldn’t get to pick a lifetime appoitment. Trump will pick someone super duper right wing. Because it just needs a simple majority.

Now if the house brings actual acrticles of impeachment, I’m not sure what will happen to the confirmation process.

If they shoot their load before the Mueller report is finished, it could backfire. They are probably hoping she sticks around long enough to get him booted.

It’s too bad that each Supreme Court appoitment feels like an existential threat, but when the rule was changed to simple majority, it basically all but eliminated minority rights.

Chaos scenario would be Mueller report having clear-cut evidence that Trump (himself) colluded with Russians. The House successfully impeaches him and goes to Senate in mid-2020. Senate doesnt convict. At the same time, Ginsburg and Breyer both die or retire around the election. Trump puts Ted Cruz and another hard right Evangelical on the court. Roe v Wade is overturned immediately. Trumps opponent wins the popular vote in a landslide, but Trump still squeaks by with the Electoral College and gets a second term. Then Clarence Thomas retires. Trump gets a 5th pick. Then turns around and retires from office, installing Mike Pence as President for a full term.

I think a scenario like that would stretch the absolute outer-limits of all Constitutionality.

You forgot the part where the Senate passed legislation to have Reagan put on the $1 holding a fetus. And that 5th Supreme Court pick is David Clarke.

But God forbid you build the city of Houston on a flood plain. They'll get all the FEMA aid they need because Texas votes Republican. Genuinely tired of Republicans overriding priority being their hatred of the rest of America.

I don’t think my idea is too far fetched tbh. If she has lung cancer, she’ll be gone in a few months. Lung cancer is usually pretty aggressive. My grandma had it 10 years ago and was dead within 6 months of her diagnosis. If he’s not under active impeachment when she croaks, you can bet they will jam through one more justice before they pull the rip cord. I’m just not sure being under impeachment is enough to stop them from trying to pack the court.

I mean, why would it be? Its the process of bringing charges, not a conviction. Now if he's been fully impeached when that happens then it might be a bit different. But I dont think there is anything constitutionally to stop him. And impeachment could take quite a long time, if there is even anything legitimate to impeach him for.

People need to stop paying attention to this idiot. Shes going to piss off the Democrat higher-ups so much with her bullshit that shes going to be put down a hole on no-name committee that picks the color for commemorative coins or something.

    • making or causing to be made false or misleading public statements for the purpose of deceiving the people of the United States into believing that a thorough and complete investigation had been conducted with respect to allegations of misconduct on the part of personnel of the executive branch of the United States and personnel of the Committee for the Re-election of the President, and that there was no involvement of such personnel in such misconduct.
    • endeavouring to cause prospective defendants, and individuals duly tried and convicted, to expect favoured treatment and consideration in return for their silence or false testimony, or rewarding individuals for their silence or false testimony.
    • In disregard of the rule of law, he knowingly misused the executive power by interfering with agencies of the executive branch, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Criminal Division, and the Office of Watergate Special Prosecution Force, of the Department of Justice, and the Central Intelligence Agency, in violation of his duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed.
And that's just the Venn diagram with Nixon.

She’s the very embodiment of “democrats fall in love, Republican fall in line”. They finally found a person to love regardless of her complete lack of understanding of the most basic concepts. Her appeal is completely emotion based as is her argument style. It doesn’t matter what you don’t know as long as you are cute and cook food on Instagram. That said, I’ve never seen a person so low on the congressional totem pole get this much attention. She has over 2 million followers on twitter and 1.5 on Instagram. Schumer has 81k. She’s good at embarrassing old people on Twitter but that doesn’t make up for fundamental lack of knowledge.

Problem is you still have to prove the legitimacy of those allegations and the intention. And even still, I doubt any of that would yield a conviction or likely even an impeachment. It would be the fumble of the century for the Democrats to bring him up on anything less than a smoking gun.

She's virtual signaling personified. I have a feeling shes going to fall hard at some point. But to be fair, she does have tig ol' bitties. Schumer probably has them too, just not the fun kind.

I mean he's done all those things publicly on twitter. The fact that we need to wait for proof that he committed literal treason before he can be impeached is a fantasy concocted by Senate Republicans who want their judicial nominations.

She’s more coherent than Palin but only because she forms complete sentences. And isn’t a contestant on Jerry Springer.

No, it’s a dose of reality for Democrats that have been slowly stroking themselves over dreams of impeachment since he announced his candidacy. They will lose that battle in a big way and cost themselves another election.

No, they get a historic wave and control of the House for that. I'm tired of pretending like Congress doing it's job would be some scandal that would make Trump popular among the 55% of the country that despises him. The Democrats' best bet for 2020 is not to try to reach the lost souls of the Trump base, it's to show some spine and get their own base excited about the prospect of wiping Republicans out in the Presidential and Senate races and show up at the polls.
