Election Day is a Holiday of sorts, All companies are required to give their employees time off to vote on election day. It is just never enforced. To be honest, I only know that to be true in California. I cannot speak for other states.
I for one am just thankful that Tom Brady is such a competitive psycho that he's still focused on the NFL at his age instead of making asinine political endorsements that would force me to reckon with who he is as a person instead of just as an avatar for sport.
I've noticed a series of last minute celebrity endorsements for tRump. A rapper, a football player and a hockey player in the last day or so. There are many long haul supporters of all of the various candidates but these last minute ones are kind of self destructive. The election is less then 100 hours away. Early voting is so high that some areas have already surpassed their voting numbers. The number of undecided voters are at a record low. So what's to be gained by people who have kept their politics our of their public images suddenly endorsing a candidate. The people who agree with you aren't going to start consuming the media you produce or buy your swag. But the people who disagree will remember and it will cost the celebrities in the long run. And the effectiveness of the endorsements is marginal at best. How long until we get the Scott Adams opinion pieces about how consequences are the worst. "After expressing support for Donald Trump in 2016, Dilbert creator estimates that he lost about 30 percent of his income and 75 percent of his friends."
This morning Texas early voters surpassed the total number of voters in 2016. I’m thinking the “fuck this shit, STOP IT!!” vote is gonna be a strong one
I’m curious to see the Election Day numbers. I wonder how many people are left and if the early vote just cannibalized the Election Day numbers
There's certainly some level of cannibalization, but they've already passed their 2016 total vote. Even if no one shows up on election day, turnout will still be up.
Right now if you said that everything was going to go blue you'd still get a passing grade. And not a "well technically a -D is a pass" grade.
There is apparently a Rasmussen poll saying that 30% of African Americans are voting for Trump. And Trumpers actually believe it. When you buy into a cult you really lose critical thinking.
In 2016 the vote breakdown was 4,685,047 to 3,877,868 which is a 800,000 spread. But Texas already has more then that in cast ballots, and youth voting is higher then it has ever been and 2016 had a very motivated base voting for tRump. I think it'll be a toss up if it goes blue or red. But it could.
I have no doubt that the youth vote is higher; Li'l Bandit just got to vote for the first time this week. What worries me is that Texas is so gerrymandered that I don't think it will make a difference. That, and I fully expect shenanigans from the GOP.
I hope it goes blue means that you'll definitely be able to vote in the 2024 Election. Otherwise I expect them to double down on disenfranchising dangerous former criminals such as yourself.
I don't think the gerrymandering will affect the presidential race. The outright voter suppression on the other hand....
