As a resident of NC there is little to no chance of that. They are waiting 117K absentee ballots that were requested but not yet cast. Who knows how many were actually mailed back in. Sorry, I thought for sure we'd go for Biden.
The lesson learned from this and the 2000 election is that the electoral college needs to die in a fire. None of this bullshit Trump is trying to pull would have happened as Biden wins the popular count going away.
Divorce takes time and there's a lot of considerations, but going back to New York (when she clearly never wanted to be in DC in the first place) only takes her saying "yeah, this politics shit is over, I don't need to pretend anymore."
Okay, 'Nerds, it APPEARS that Biden won, and I'm sorry if I came off too harsh last night. But the fat lady hasn't sung, and Trump still hasn't gotten a chance to take his new Supreme Court for a spin yet. I hope you're right, and I'm just being negative/ paranoid.
How long can Trump keep the recount/lawsuit train going, though? And what's his likelihood of success? Recounts never seem to bear fruit. Gore was behind 500 votes or so in Florida and still lost. Trump's best bet is Georgia and that's 1,000 votes or so. Each other states' margins are currently in the 10k range. And with Pennsylvania, Biden has it with or without Georgia. And Trump seems to be batting with low success in lawsuits. Most have been slapped away, borderline laughed out of court, or just dismissed without much fanfare. I've never seen someone so obsessed with winning become so dedicated in dragging out the process of losing. Is he just stirring up shit in the hope of a pardon? Like, a phone call comes in and says "Fuck off and you and one other family member gets a full pardon. We know it's going to be Ivanka, but we wanted to give you the choice."
Recounts usually yield results in the double or triple digits. Biden is ahead by 5 (or more) digits everywhere. As for the lawsuits, etc., if there was ever a time to backup some bullshit, now would be it. Aside from that, I’m guessing pressure is going quickly mount from the establishment GOP for him to concede. Otherwise, Biden’s first act as President will be to have his newly-minted AG and Secret Service escort Trump from the White House. There won’t be a constitutional crisis or anything. I don’t see John Roberts letting that occur.
So, who gets the nod to replace Kamala in the senate? I'm not in CA or anything, and I would bet that it ends up being Schiff (unless he gets selected to the admin's cabinet), but I'd honestly like to see them tap Katie Porter.
One of things Trump got right. News media is all trash now. When you get headlines like “Fiery yet peaceful protest” you can be sure the content is just as slanted as the click bait headline. They gave up their objectivity, respectability, and integrity long before trump came along. He just gave us a TV dinner name for it.
I’m betting that he resigns before the new term hoping Pence pardons him. He will yell that he was cheated and is too good for this or something and slink off back to Florida. Or runs to another country. If he can’t pay all that debt that’s coming due, I don’t know what he will do.
Well I don’t know what he would get pardoned for, and you can’t go to the jail for debt. And unless the Democrats are colossally stupid, they won’t have anything to due with him unless they want him to run again in 2024 (which may happen anyway).
