True, I know that’s a joke however it was a conservative judge that was a compromise Obama made to even be allowed to nominate one. He’s from the federalist society and is about as conservative as it gets. Which is why it’s funnier the degree of burn from the opinion.
Well that was fast. They're already throwing Powell under the bus: https://twitter.com/JennaEllisEsq/status/1330638034619035655
The climax of this journey is like watching a train wreck loaded with AIDS that crashed into a children’s hospital. Your country has fuck-up fatigue, how many more embarrassing bombs do they have up their sleeve before it ends?
Social media has been such a huge influence on our lives. Hitting “return” twice makes statements sound so important and dramatic. It’s all part of the plan. The plan is to just make up shit for two weeks and then kinda waddle away.
I'm thinking the key phrasing might be "in his personal capacity." So the statement reads that she isn't a lawyer for trump, the trump legal team (however they wish to define that), but it ISN'T saying that she isn't a lawyer for the trump campaign. It strikes me as one of those purposefully vague statements that's written in such a way that it can be revised later with further statements.
Carl Bernstein calling out some GOP senators https://twitter.com/carlbernstein/status/1330710304519405569
How many of them won their seat in the recent election? Collins for sure. It's almost like "we can't say he's lying to y'all, because then y'all would realize I've been lying to you, too." Tim Scott is SC's other Senator and the lone black Republican. He's got a bright future in the GOP, but I recall how he rose to prominence (most black political figures in SC are Democrats, and by virtue of his skin color and declaring himself Republican, he was led to the front of the line) and it left the impression he just wanted power, and would make use of whatever vehicle got him there. You'd expect one of the few black Senators to play a larger role in the discussion on police violence, but nope. Meanwhile, Stacey Abrams is a state away making the damned dream work...
Republicans like Tim Scott because he’s “one of the good ones”. They probably also told him that he’s a “credit to his race”. They may have even described his as “well-spoken”.
"I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy...I mean, that's a storybook, man." -some racist Republican, asked about Tim Scott, probably
To be fair, I think it's ridiculous to assert that black people can't be Republican. I just remember his campaign, and it left me thinking "this has nothing to do with your beliefs, values or how you'd like to represent the constituents" and more to do with "this is the fastest ticket to the top of the heap". The OTHER Senator from SC is Lindsey fucking Graham, who inherited Strom Thurmond's seat. So......
I finally get to use this one cause I get the joke! Edit: Apparently still too stupid to get gifs to work on here.
Yeah Trump, it's your team of lawyers making you look bad. https://www.cnbc.com/2020/11/23/tru...-lawyers-are-fools.html?__source=twitter|main
