McConnel's wife, Transportation Minister, just resigned: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...ao-resigns-mitch-mcconnell-wife-b1784105.html I can only think McConnell is about to do something that will piss off Trump and she doesn't want to be anywhere near it.
It would have to be tested before the courts. It's never been attempted. It would seem like something that shouldn't be allowed and as I said before, the precedent would be really terrible.
Deflection Inc. They are your loyal supporters, the same team as you. Shut up and admit you had a hand in this, you should be stood against a wall and shot.
Honestly Biden should just come out super strong on limitations to the pardon power. It's a totally untested area of law, and there's nothing saying Trump's democracy-breaking interpretation is better than Biden's lets-not-do-a-dictator-thing interpretation. Just say "No Presidential power is without limits. The prohibition of being a judge in one's case goes back centuries in common law, and completely proscribes the issuance of a self-pardon. Furthermore, any pardon given with corrupt motive is also invalid, under the doctrine that lawful powers cannot be lawfully be exercised toward unlawful ends. Therefore the pardons of Donald Trump, Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, Ivanka Trump, Rudy Giuliani, Roger Stone, Paul Manafort, etc etc etc are considered null and the Department of Justice does not consider these individuals beyond indictment or prosecution." Clap 'em in irons and let them fight to get their bullshit pardons considered valid rather than the other way around. Play fucking offense for once.
As I said previously, I partially want him thrown out on principle, but it gets more complicated than that. His most ardent supporters have an extreme persecution complex about absolutely everything. The truth though, is while much of their animosity is based on pure nonsense, some of it is rooted in truth. The conspiracy against his 2016 candidacy by the Administration and the FBI is true. So is the idea that he was primarily impeached based on bogus intelligence. Those things went on completely unchecked and without any sanction or punishment against the perpetrators. He used that as fuel to cement and unite his base, which at the individual level, is extremely fragmented in terms of what policies they actually care about. His entire base exists based on a nonsensical “deep state” conspiracy. Unfortunately, that idea also has some kernels of truth sprinkled throughout. If he were removed from office with less than 2 weeks left, they will see that as the ultimate act of aggression and it will only see it as proof of their suspicions and justification for the events of yesterday. So it’s probably best to just ride it out. Biden was confirmed and will be President is in less than 2 weeks.
US Capitol Police statement https://www.uscp.gov/media-center/press-releases/statement-steven-sund-chief-police
Mock it all you want. I can easily go back to page after page in this thread if you and others posting how Trump was a Russian asset who worked with Putin to hijack the election. All of that turned out to be bullshit. The point is, all of that contributed to how his base is insane as they are now.
Oh can you now: https://www.theidiotboard.com/threads/elephants-and-jackasses.254446/page-29#post-576297 Also this is a huge goalpost move. You alleged that the Obama White House engaged in a conspiracy against Trump, which makes absolutely zero sense. You further alleged that the impeachment was baseless as well, which is also nutterbutters.
I mentioned this yesterday, but that was debunked. https://www.snopes.com/news/2021/01/06/liveblog-jan-6-capitol-riots/#pence-unfollow
When weren’t they insane? Donald Trump is somebody they should already know is terrible simply by being alive— a person who was a living punchline for the past four decades. They weren’t “conned by a con man”, they were off their rocker to begin with. The absolute fuckheads of your country received their king, and yesterday was the result.
Are we sure they weren't? Quite a number of these Capitol rebs were wearing backpacks as they climbed in thru the window, not that the normal entrance was any more secure anyway. He makes the point better than I: https://mobile.twitter.com/jsrailton/status/1347213255509422081
Here's my thoughts, and my thoughts alone, and I'm sorry if this is not really much more than vague ramblings, but oh well. A lot of people say things like, "somebody has to stop this, or it's going to go too far." But where exactly "too far" is, is very rarely stated. And, of course, there's a lot of things these days that can lead to that statement, so maybe it can't be narrowed down all that much. Anyway, I think we're way past "too far" when it comes to the public trust in elections. On both sides. There are large numbers of citizens, on both ideological sides, who believe that if their party loses, it was a completely fraudulent/rigged election. I mean, there's always been people who use the old "they cheated" as a bandage on their ego after a tough loss, but I hear a lot more people saying, in many words, "if the other guy wins, there's no way I'll believe it was fair." It's been said on this board. So basically, we're continuing on with some form of weak/weird honor system, where everybody thinks the elections are rigged, but they go along with them anyway? How long will that last? So now I feel like the true debate is, "which political party is gonna produce the politician (or politicians) that say, 'look, we all know these elections are pointless, so we're just gonna stay here.'" Now, to the question of, should Trump be removed from office - I think they're going to seriously try and kick him out swiftly in the next two weeks, mainly for the reason that he can't run again in 2024 if they convict.
I don’t know what goal posts you’re talking about. I didn’t write the Mueller Report, falsify the Steele Dossier, the paperwork for electronic surveillance in Trump Tower or request names from classified intelligence briefings. I didn’t vote for Trump and I just want him out, but I’m also not going to pretend there wasn’t an immense amount of fuckery that, combined with Trump’s insane rhetoric and plain old bullshit, turned his base into fanatical lunatics. If you want to believe that these people were already just crazy and suddenly decided to attempt a siege of the Capitol without a minute shred of murky motivation, I don’t know what to tell you. I have no idea, the identities of each party shifted so dramatically in the last two election cycles that the real answer is, “Who the fuck knows?”
So what was Obama's plan exactly? Concoct a fake investigation against Trump for campaign purposes and then... keep it secret for the entire campaign? You realize that makes no sense, right?
