Yeah, that's exactly what would've happened. @Aetius We're headed down a dangerous path and sentiments like that are only going to make things worse. I think many people are missing the root cause of what happened yesterday. All last summer we were told by the media that "Riots are the language of the unheard." Yesterday we saw a group of people who feel their voices are unheard. Everyone right of full blown socialism is lumped in with worst of Trump's base...they're all Nazis, or racists, or homophobic, or transphobic, or xenophobic, or traitors, or whatever the flavor of the week insult is. And this has been going on for years. It's created a powder keg to the point that something like yesterday was inevitable. We're all in this together and a flat out attitude of "Fuck half the country" is by definition a wedge and makes you no better than the people you hate.
Republicans are welcome to rejoin reality and be better people at any time. But the rest of us are done giving a fuck about how they "feel."
No, no. Their voices were heard. They said “This election was stolen from us” and that makes them either stupid or liars, and either way they’re wrong. So fuck what they have to say. More importantly: look what they DID. The riots yesterday had zero right or reason whatsoever, and that has actually been proven. Why would anybody want to listen to the sorest losers in the history of democracy?
Because everyone that isn't a Democrat is exactly the same. That's a very black and white way to look at things, no nuance, just you're either with us or against us. But it's the other side that's driving a wedge in this country.
This sentiment is the same thing as trusting Lucy to hold the football for Charlie Brown to kick. In this case, the far right is Lucy, the rest of the country is Charlie Brown, and the football is whatever issue that the right and left fight over. Whenever the country needs to move forward on something, some group of dipshits on the right do some chickenshit and nothing gets done. At this point, Charlie isn't going to go for the ball. It's going to be Lucy's stupid fucking face. And given how we've been losing a literal 9/11s worth of Americans every day due to Lucy refusing to fucking play ball, how in the world can anybody expect anything but "you get what you deserve"?
You want to know the best part of being pretty much a centrist? I get shit on from both sides. Folks on the right call me a Commie, folks on the left call me a Nazi. It's fun.
Trump's approval rating among Republicans has been in the 90s his entire term. The early polling on yesterday's riot showed that as many Republicans supported the riot itself as didn't. Everyone who elevated Trump, who voted him into office, who supported his Presidency, who supported his re-election, and especially who supported his coup, doesn't get to just walk away from him and pretend that it's unfair to be judged on the fruits of that wrongdoing.
I post on another message board that has more right wing folks than this one. and you'll be pleased to know that my appeals to act like civilized human beings and try to bring this country back to something resembling civility towards people that hold different views are met with just as much enthusiasm as you show. So at least y'all have something in common, you want to wipe each other from the face of the Earth and take the rest of us with you.
Well since the date stamp is from January 8th at 12:51 PM I don't really know where you are getting these screenshots.
Second coward resigns rather then use the 25th to do their job 12 days before losing their jobs. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/07/us/politics/betsy-devos-resigns.html
Or the fact that if he gets impeached he can't "run" again. That would cut a major source of funding for him.
