I’m not suggesting you placate - I think I even said that - my question is what’s the plan to get things back on the rails? Particularly when the attitude of each side towards the other is “fuck those assholes.” Trump is gone in two weeks (or sooner), and then what? Everyone suddenly gets along again?

    This will blow your mind:

Rob Ford’s brother, Doug Ford, is the premier of Ontario. The equivalent of the Governor of NY, kind of. And he has been, by a country mile, the BEST leader I have seen in all this crisis. I never would have imagined this a year ago, but if he ran for Prime Minister tomorrow I would join the Conservative Party just to vote for him.

Not at all. No one has been getting along for a long time now. However, until Obama was elected, the two sides at least made an attempt to work together towards actually governing the country. The past 10 years have literally been just obstruction and one side controlling where our country is going. The past 5 years has been that party just obliterating our country for their own quest for more power.

The "then what?", we actually have to get back to just a baseline of not being on the edge of insanity every other day of the week. Then, we have to work towards making some pretty important changes to many of the problems exposed during the last 5 years. Then, we have to start governing with the betterment of the country and its citizens in mind. All in all, these things should take about 100-200 years give or take.

I know, which is the crazy the part. One member of a party was a complete steaming pile of trash and another actually decided to be a leader with the interest of his citizens as his focus. Now if only we could find some of those down in the US, we might actually move on from the position we are in right now.

Edit* However, this is what we get instead. This is a sitting State Senator -

Virginia state Senator Amanda Chase denied that any violence had taken place, despite the overwhelming evidence, and later accused the police of murder after the shooting of a California woman inside the Capitol. "A veteran who was brutally murdered by Capitol Police today,”

“These were not rioters and looters; these were Patriots who love their country and do not want to see our great republic turn into a socialist country. I was there with the people; I know. Don’t believe the fake media narrative," she wrote.

Totally agreed. In a weird way he was so unpolitical or "buffoonish" that he didn't fall prey to being a compromising politician, and just did what he and his advisors thought was right, regardless of what others thought. Took some pretty serious balls, and I think we are way better off because of it.

I mean, look a the shit show that is Alberta...

It pissed me off but I’m not even thinking about all that right now. But something has awoken in the last several years that has radicalized the shit out of the Ted Kaczynski types and I don’t know how to put the tooth paste back in the tube.

I'm just trying to take a 1000 ft. view of the whole state of things. As far as the Ted Kaczynski types, I've always just assumed that there is a >0% that is more susceptible to propaganda, being whipped up into hysteria, and being an all around, fringe lunatic.

When the President says things like, "Mexicans are murders and rapists, but I'm sure some are very fine people", and "There are very fine people on both sides" when talking about white supremacists, or "When the looting starts, the shooting starts", or....
When the President of the country you live in says and acts on things like this, there's very little stopping people becoming radicalized.

I think there is a real fear with a lot of folks on the right that they might be subject to similar treatment that black and brown people have been experiencing forever. I was discussing this with my wife last night about the ultimate source of whats at the root here. And I think people are just afraid of losing something because other people might get a piece of the pie for themselves.

We really did a number on us. Russia was just the sibling at Thanksgiving who says "Hey... back in high school didn't your brother fuck your wife before y'all got together?"

Honestly the only thing we can do. Biden focuses on what's best for the country, and Republicans can either pitch in and help the country, or they can continue to hurt the country. It's up to them.

The Capitol police should have shot a lot more people way before that point.

So far Ashli is in the lead for the 2021 Fuck Around and Find Out Award. But she did get to see the inside of the Capitol and meet President Reagan on the same day!

Edit: Here's an uncensored version. Warning - it is as graphic as you might imagine.

Is it too early to call the three Trumpers who died, but weren't shot, the Three Stooges? One got trampled holding a "don't tread on me" flag, another tased himself (allegedly in the balls) and had a heart attack, and the third is said to have fallen off some scaffolding he was trying to climb. If that's not slapstick comedy, I don't know what is.

What are you talking about he has been terrible.

This is the guy who told Ontarians to go on their March Break vacations literally the day before we all went into lockdown. And it is the guy who insisted that kids go back into classrooms in September so that things could get back to normal.

The only thing giving him a shred of credibility is Jason Kenny's total failure to the west and the unending spectacle of tRump to the south.

The one thing that he did that was actually impressive was that he denounced the ant-mask protests that happened at Queen's Park this summer.

And that was only impressive because Conservatives have had a really hard time denouncing the people who vote for them.
