Julia Roberts is right. How long has this two-fisted tough guy ducked out of press conferences so Blondie McChucklefuck can stand in his place and slowly rot her soul?
I just can’t imagine giving that big of a shit one way or another about Twitter. Yeah, the enforcement of their TOS is laughably inconsistent and arbitrary, but it’s a shitty platform anyway. I read some statistics somewhere that only about 10% of its users create 80% of all tweets and only 22% of adults have an actual account. That’s not significant percentage population in any regard. A larger percentage of adults are using Pinterest and Snapchat, and almost the same percentage use WhatsApp. Source: https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-ta...ding-facebook-is-mostly-unchanged-since-2018/ I agree that there are some sketchy freedom of speech issues here, but Twitter can do whatever the fuck they want. If they don’t want to give a platform to Trump’s endless shit-posting, they don’t have to.
Pity. I was hoping for a much more dramatic arrest....like him lowering his head, pawing the ground, snorting, and then charging. Also, I can't verify the authenticity of this, but it certainly seems plausible:
Twitter just hits that part of your brain that gets off on internet arguing better than any other outlet. I dont think people who are addicted to it can stay away. Also, in this case it's the social media outlet that's format that occupies the news and world events discussion space. Snapchat and Instagram are more on the personal level, look at me and this food porn picture I took at TGI Fridays. Remember when Snapchat was just for noodz? I miss those days.
Our 18 year old son just dropped a truth bomb on a 70 year old retired teacher who lives down the road after she commented on his Facebook post: Yeah, I’m a proud Dad.
Of course. Twitter certainly has a meaningful application, it’s just not receiving the stream on conscience of people like James Woods or Alyssa Milano.
I basically use Twitter for three things: 1. One liner comedians 2. Journalists breaking news ~1 hr before it disseminates through the rest of the media ecosystem 3. Raw clips of news events that haven't been edited to shit by local news teams who feel the need to have an anchor introduce the clip, show part of the clip, have another reporter describe what then happens in the clip instead of showing it, and then a bumper for their 5 o'clock news hour.
Twitter is so bad for the most part that getting kicked off of it is almost a badge of honour, like when they banned Dice from MTV. I wonder what kind of social media exodus this might stir. This is why forum places like this will always be better than harmful social media holes like Twitter or Facebook.
I was watching a late night news program a couple of days ago that briefly showed a pro Trump rally in Japan. I thought I was seeing things.
Seems like for every video of cops just "letting it happen" there's one of cops actually doing their job and paying for it. This is the stuff that should be in every news broadcast; don't let the narrative that they were "just patriots sightseeing in search of peaceful dialogue" take root. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...ding-Capitol-Police-cop-CRUSHED-MAGA-mob.html
I guess fleeing to the safe haven of Parler wasn't the best choice. https://www.buzzfeednews.com/amphtml/johnpaczkowski/amazon-parler-aws
If you want to be a piece of shit in 2021 and you don't know how to install and maintain a server rack, you're gonna have a bad time.
Looks like Republican AG's were involved in Wednesdays coup attempt. https://twitter.com/KatyTurNBC/status/1347753668188246019
Russia propaganda machine is in overdrive to take full advantage of the situation. Funny enough, they're trying to scare people with stuff the USSR spent decades doing to their own citizens.
This Washington Post Article makes it incredibly clear this country is incredibly lucky. As bad as it was, a few things break a different way and the body count would have been much higher. And there's no doubt that lawmakers would have been assaulted and/or killed by these people. I'm quoting it below because I think the Post has a paywall sometimes. Inside the Capitol siege: How barricaded lawmakers and aides sounded urgent pleas for help as police lost control Spoiler: Article
