If by "diverse backgrounds," you mean white people, mostly male, in various stages of cleanliness, then yes it is quite diverse.

It would not surprise me if everyone who can be identified by these videos is charged with something. I believe the main limiting factor will be budgetary concerns involving court costs and enough room in the jails for them all, rather than technological means with which to identify, given that they seem to be the special kind of stupid who liked to brag about their crimes openly and verifiably.

 

Even among the weirdness of the last week this has stood out as weird.

Charges were just filed against one of the rioters (specifically the one using the alias "Jayden X" who filmed the shooting outside the Speaker's Lobby). A history of the guy indicates that he was not a pro-Trump individual, but rather an agent provocateur. So at first blush, it appears he is a left-winger posing as a right-winger in order to stir up shit. However, communications from back in November (including public Twitter threads) turned up in which the left-wing protesters in the PNW were warning each other to kick him out of their spaces, because he was an agent provocateur there. So he's either like... a double decker agent provocateur (right-winger pretending to be a left-winger pretending to be a right-winger) or he's some nutbag trying to infiltrate everything and stir up shit. Either way, dude's a weirdo and probably going to prison.

 

Based on my Google Fu, it seems Jayden X is the same dude @ODEN was talking about a few posts back.

 

Before Wednesday I would have said he was just a pure grifter, looking to exploit anyone to make money. But once you've reached the point where you're committing felonies on film in what will be the most scrutinized crime in decades, you're not exactly involved in a profitable venture anymore. No idea what this guy's true deal is.

From listening to his commentary on that video, I think he's a very dumb individual trying to make money by filming crazy shit. Doesn't surprise me that he egged on crowds at both left wing riots and the Capitol. He reminds me of the drunk dude yelling for everyone to take shots, while not having one himself and then bailing when his friends get into a fight. By 7 minutes in, I lost track of the number of times he had shouted to burn the Capitol down. He also filmed himself helping rioters who were climbing up the walls, get over the rails at the top and congratulating them.

He was not a member of the press, as he identified himself as to many cops in the video. He was there to stir shit up. One of many I'm sure. I hope he rots.

I'm glad the fine folks at Parler were able to use him as the reason why Antifa was responsible for the insurrection.

As far as I can tell he was acting like a amateur reporter who is now being charged because he doesn't have any of the protections that are normally afforded to the press.

But he can argue in court that he should be given those protections.

Amazing how quick after the riot/failed coup attempt Matt Gaetz got word antifa was there. Must have tipped off Sullivan so he felt confident saying at least one antifa members was there. Sullivan, in an interview with Rolling Stone, said he’d known about the plan to storm the Capitol for several weeks.

 

Where did Gaetz get his tips from? His “son” who is ten years older than him and once arrested George Michael in a park bathroom?

 

I'm not trusting anything that guy says. It was definitely predictable though; Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R) ordered his staff to stay home on the 6th because he wasn't willing to risk anyone but himself given what might happen. If he could see it coming, law enforcement definitely could have.
