i was wondering about that as it seemed weird and out of context. now I genuinely think he was arguing with himself from the same account
https://www.politico.com/news/2021/01/21/republican-party-future-460966 I think the GOP is about to have a really hard time. -fallout from the insurrection -Trump is now a liability, with no innate platform to drum up support -major donors getting dead or starting to distance themselves -no clear post-Trump platform -they poisoned the well by continuing to hit up donors for the "overturn the election" fight, many of whom are now incredibly outraged. For many of them, it feels like they are coming down off of a high, looking at the people around the room and going "Yeesh, nope. Gotta get the fuck out of here." I'd look to Romney and Cheney for leadership on where they are heading, with some folks like Cruz and Hawley to get chewed up on the way. Depending on how the Trump administration's crimes get prosecuted, and how distracting the impeachment trial is, a few others could get wrapped up in that, but further embarrassment is coming, especially if the Senate doesn't impeach him and prevent Trump from holding public office again.
If they were to knife Cruz and Hawley to help get the gop out of the mud, it would cost them nothing politically. Everyone hates Cruz and he would just be replaced with a (hopefully) more honorable person who would have to run again in 2024. Hawley is a piece of shit who no one would miss. The level of raw ambition has always plagued Cruz from being likable. There’s not a genuine bone in his body and he was always just a product of the defunct tea party movement that came from pure racism against Obama.
What idiot gave this order? This was disrespectful as hell to those protecting the capitol. https://www.politico.com/news/2021/01/21/national-guard-troops-vacate-capitol-461220
Capitol police leaders seem to be constantly shitting the bed and at odds with other enforcement agencies. Somebody lied about the January 6th reinforcements, somebody is lying about this.
So...about that mask mandate requiring masks on all federal property... Picture was taken a few hours after the mandate was signed. When asked about it, the press secretary had this to say: "I think we have bigger issues to worry about at this moment in time." The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Not wading into the political BS about the photo but do we still need to wear masks after vaccination?
I will share the article I read about in the other thread, but there is an article with information from the CEO of Pfizer who says that information about virus transmission from vaccinated individuals Will be available in February. They are testing that right now and do not know for sure. However, there doesn't seem to be transmission of the virus in vaccinated animal test studies edit: article implies greatly reduced transmission in animal studies. Went back and reread.
Or... it's almost that if you actually look at the picture you can see a couple of them holding what appear to be masks in their hands and I'm assuming they just took them off for the sake of taking a picture together?
I find that even though I’ve had both doses, I still wear a mask because most people haven’t gotten vaccinated. It keeps me from being questioned by people and judged by others. I work in IT oncology, and have to go into cancer centers from time to time. Cancer patients are more vulnerable than others. I don’t have time to explain to people the nature of my job every time I tell them I’ve been vaccinated and why I’m different than they are. There have been no shortage of haters/judgmental people in my life who feel that I, a healthy 37 year old, got the vaccine and should feel guilty about it. Everyone I know who got the vaccine has basically agreed not to tell anyone until a lot more people get it.
There is a simple explanation you can use for this: “I’m more important than you, twat. Do better in life.” ...then flick your cigarette in their face and walk away. The only reason that people like to morally scold over something like that is because they’re actually a shitty person, so trashing you this way gives the false veil that they’re thinking about the greater good.
Or, ya know, if you feel like using an ethical argument, there's this: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/21/opinion/covid-vaccine-ethics.html I got my first dose on Monday. I'm 38 years old and healthy, and I am also a volunteer ski patroller. The county where I work has decided to vaccinate ski patrollers as first responders. I'm not talking about it much because there has already been some discussion about ski patrollers ahead of teachers being... not a good look. But also, as the opinion piece points out, I couldn't defer my shot to a teacher, it would probably just go to someone who deserves it even less than I do because this rollout is a total shitshow. And there's a whole economic argument of, do what you can to keep the ski resorts open so that people in the ski towns have jobs cause there sure as hell aren't any other industries.
