To be fair Biden was accused of a much more heinous act than anything these girls have said. I’m all for the alinsky rule to hold your enemies to their own rules and all but I’d put his accusations more on the Al Franken end of the spectrum than Harvey Weinstein. Out of line for sure and I’d take whatever ethics panel they convened as meeting out punishment. Don’t think he needs to be wished out into the corn field for this. The nursing home shit and hiding numbers from the federal government to help avoid possible legal ramifications is a much bigger career ending fuck up than making ill timed passes at coworkers.
This honestly feels closer to "You broke my heart, Fredo" than anything sexual. I'm worried he's going to have her killed.
Looks like Governor shithead decided today would be a great day to lift the statewide mask mandate and allow all businesses to operate at 100%. Because that’s the smart thing to do when the only people who have the vaccine are the olds and healthcare workers. We have all the new variants here in Houston and it seems like the biggest obstacle to squashing this thing is republicans.
I really have to give it up to the Machiavellian fuck who thought this up. If COVID kills a bunch of people as a result, it's because Biden didn't do enough to get the vaccine out. If it doesn't, then COVID was overblown/look at a great job Republicans are doing getting the economy going, etc. There is literally no downside for Republicans to open early. There is no way Democrats are going to get any credit from Republicans on this. Republican voters will likely suck down any horseshit Fox, Breitbart, etc., will shovel at them and amplify it to their neighbors.
Had this conversation with my mother in law, who until I got covid was of that crowd that thought masks were worthless and a waste of time and the shot wasn't trustworthy and rushed and would alter your dna. Also hilariously and sadly the "pro-life" crowd. She saw the shit I went through, and am still dealing with, and quickly changed her tune and got the shot. She's going to continue to wear a mask because, while she's an idiot, she's also seen firsthand the consequences of covid and came to her senses that a piece of cloth is nowhere near as annoying as insomnia, trouble breathing, mental fog, lack of taste or smell, and all the other shit that comes along with it, for months on end potentially. I see absolutely no reason why I shouldn't, and won't, not only wear a mask until the scientists say it is no longer necessary, but also once this is over, whenever I am sick and absolutely have to go out like to the drug store. Or if flu or seasonal allergies or whatever are particularly bad. It's just a piece of cloth. The risks of what it protects against far outweigh the minor annoyance of it fogging your glasses or hurting your wittle ears. fuck abbott. I hope he runs over a nail in his wheelchair. He's literally gonna kill people with this decision, and he's gonna kill any chance he has for re-election, and he's gonna specifically kill a measurable portion of his base because they're the same idiots who think that what he just did makes sense. Fortunately city and county officials can and will overrule this, and keep their mask mandates in place, even if captain cripple decides to rip the condom off mid coitus.
The pandemic has convinced me of one thing: This country will never unite over anything ever again. We may as well just Balkanize and call it a day.
I’m pretty deeply concerned over the stupidity of the decision in Texas. While the vaccine will probably confer some level of protection to new variants, we don’t know for sure that it will stop people from getting sick and spreading it around in a way they wouldn’t. The reason why things are so bad is because we did so little as a country to stop the spread, and with the genetic profile of viruses more cases mean more mutations, which means it could take the action of one jackass to fuck over global efforts. This isn’t even stopping to cheer right before the finish line, we aren’t through the fucking race yet. Pretty infuriating and disrespectful to people working on solutions, and potentially disastrous for multiple reasons.
Perhaps slightly off topic here, although they have been in the news quite a bit lately, but pre-COVID I was living and teaching in Saudi Arabia. I was at a major university just north of Jeddah and Mecca. Such a fascinating and unique country that has its hands, money, and influence all over our world. Perhaps our Canadian Idiots won't appreciate this post as much as others. I'm aware of the tensions. But these Saudis have a plan; Saudi Vision 2030, and they are rallied to follow through with it. One, Canadians and Americans, you are about to see a huge influx, much like Chinese students ten or twenty years ago, of young Saudi students attend your Universities. It ought to be fascinating.
Uniting requires leadership and we had none for years. You have one political party dead set on not taking this seriously out of some duty to fight the culture war while secretly investing in the country’s failure and the other trying to keep people from dying. Trump knew the whole time how bad it was and straight up lied. He secretly got the vaccine when he was still in office. It never had to be this way. It feels like the gop has no interest in uniting around this cause. I’m going to keep my guard up until the local positivity rate is about 5%. We aren’t there yet.
Is Sinema an idiot? Forget the politics of which way to actually vote, once you've decided you're going to vote against the minimum wage increase: 1. Don't do it while carrying a Lululemon bag. 2. Don't ape McCain's "thumbs down" moment on a vote that will in no way be received the same way by your voters, nor one that you are even the deciding vote on. 3. Don't try to make it cute with that weird curtsy thing. She was going to get enough heat just for voting how she did, I can't believe she was dumb enough to just hand the internet a "let them eat cake" gif to go along with it.
Wasn’t her rationale just that it shouldn’t be in the pandemic relief package? That doesn’t seem that outrageous to me.
It was either cravenly heartless or just straight up tone deaf. I’m not sure what she was thinking. These people don’t give a fuck about anyone.
