I think this thread is ok for this... So in other news, I got unfriended on Facebook, not sure when it happened exactly. By someone who is in our circle of friends and who's wedding I'm going to in a couple of months. It's weird because I'm not a huge supporter of Milo and I don't share his posts on Facebook. I may "like" something from time to time, but I have no idea where he gets this from. But basically, this guy is willing to burn our friendship over my perceived support of someone he doesn't like. And only sees me as this person. I can't wait for the wedding.
At least it's moving in a positive direction and not something like, "I've just authorized the military to use lethal force against protesters #MAGA."
Regardless of the protests and hand-wringing; the media and all of the other little partisans will show themselves for the hypocrites they are very soon. As rates go up this year, the economy will get worse. All of the sudden the legacy media and people of a liberal persuasion will suddenly start to care about the Trump economy. In conservative circles, it will cease to exist. As the wars continue, the body counts; the pictures of fallen soldiers; the humanitarian crises stories will be the bedrock of legacy media reporting and liberal Facebook memes. Conservatives will be draped in the flag in full support. As the mass surveillance continues unabated, it will now become a serious issue to the media and liberal people. It will fall away from the conservative conciousness as well. You can say this for almost every issue. This is not everyone, this is mainly the people who identify with a party and more specifically the media.
So this is by far the dumbest thing I've seen all day.... http://time.com/4590994/popular-vote-tax-pledge/?xid=fbshare Remember when Time wrote articles for adults? Me neither. "Until democracy is restored" is my personal favorite part.
Wrong. How about complete and utter contempt and anger almost every time he opened his mouth? I couldn't even stand to look at him because it would just remind me of all the stupid shit he said and did over the past 8 years. I'm at work and don't have time to fully answer this because it's a long list...but here's a few: Interjecting himself into situations he shouldn't have...ie..."If I had a son, he'd look like Trayvon" in the middle of the damn trial. Inviting clock kid to the WH before knowing what was going on. Calling terrorist attacks "Work place violence" and "Homophobia" instead of what they actually were. Giving us his "Guns are bad m'kay" lecture anytime there was a mass shooting. Promising "No more back room politics" and immediately back room politicing Obamacare.
Ok so he said some things that frustrated you and played the guns are as cars a bit too much. But that's standard democrat stuff. He even at times condescendingly lectured the population on what he thought the sources of violence problems were. That said, did he ever display a level of instability that has alarmed people on both sides of the isle? Or show an egregious lack of disrespect for anyone who disagreed with him? I'm trying really hard to not be biased because I find myself right down the middle of both parties.
I think Trump is a buffoon probably just as much as most people here, I just personally think he was a better alternative then 4 more years of the same old same old. At least it is a chance at a change instead of Obama's hand picked successor, who would've guaranteed 4 more years of pissing me off. Was he a good choice? No. Not at all. But, to me, he was better then Hillary.
Hard to argue with that. For me, it came down to the simple matter of I would never want to tell my son I voted for someone who openly (scary to think what he's done privately) disrespecting women in a way I am teaching him not to. But I totally understand the logic of not wanting more of the same. Clinton for sure would have continued what Obama was doing. It's a "devil you know vs. devil you don't" argument at that point. I know this is super trivial, but at the very least the never four years are going to be funny as hell. Trump might have actually saved twitter by allowing for so many damn memes. Now, if my wife were to need an abortion I might not think it so funny, but for the time being....
So you didn't vote for Mrs. Clinton either? Every time another woman accused Bill of a crime she referred to it as a bimbo eruption and vowed to destroy the accuser. Nobody was going to stand in the way of her political aspirations, not even a woman with a legitimate complaint of sexual misconduct. Again, the two parties are just different sides of the same dirty coin.
I despise Hillary. The difference is that Hillary had no self respect. Trump has no respect for women in general. Hillary didn't threaten to repeal Row vs. Wade. Hillary didn't run under a party that has vowed to end Planned Parenthood funding. Hilary didn't want to turn back the clock to an "Again" that means in all probability a time when women had fewer rights and fewer options.
I mean we could find out, but it looks like he won't ever release his tax returns. However, to be fair Trump is changing things in Washington...by breaking norms and making it swampier than ever. And just to point out another likely lie, Trump Promised to Resign From His Companies — But There’s No Record He’s Done So
This absolutely boggles my mind. Even if you give 0 fucks about women/POC/lgbtq/any minority rights, Trump is putting together the least educated, wealthiest, and least qualified cabinet in modern history (see how I didn't even mention whitest?). I just don't understand how people who feel disenfranchised by the current political system think that they will in some way be benefitted by this administration.
That's where I get hung up, too. There were two choices: Choice 1: Continue on with policies and procedures that you did not like, and get four more years of the same ("the same" being decreased unemployment, more people insured and more protections for LGBT, on top of all the other shit). Choice 2: Undo everything that has been done in the last two decades, including social progress and legal protections. That's what I don't get. Yes, both options were terrible and yes, the system is broken. I just can't get my head around choosing someone who will not just break the system but completely strip it down and sell it for parts, all because, "Well, it's a change."
