Touché. But also, that whole quote is Van Jones saying “he became presidential, and furthermore, fuck that guy.”
Going with the theme of "boarding a sinking ship" it was revealed today that this same media venture is under SEC investigation.
This paragraph really sums up how I've been feeling about, well, pretty much any time an old white person uses the word "woke" https://www.salon.com/2021/12/10/th...-losing--its-are-winning-them-over-with-lies/
This is a very interesting read: https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/696856/woke-racism-by-john-mcwhorter/ I saw him on Bill Maher's show, and he had some rather thoughtful things to say, and was pushing this book... so I figured, why not give it a go. It's an interesting, if not fresh viewpoint, especially from a black man. This is a good interview with him about the book: https://www.vox.com/vox-conversatio.../vox-conversations-john-mcwhorter-woke-racism
I'm just not convinced it matters in any real sense. To the degree that the "anti-woke" crowd is correct, they're mildly right about mild annoyances. And given that "mildly right" pairs with "mostly wrong", they're not even a net benefit on the specific issue, much less the broader array of horrific policies that go with the people that end up being elected under these banners.
You’re not winning over anyone here by posting an article written by that lying fucking pig. Her credibility went into the ether with her militant Duke lacrosse accusations.
Shit man, even the guy with his name on the website was all in on "asshole Duke lacrosse exploiting a sex worker". Then the facts came out and opinions changed.
But that’s really what it comes down to in the end, or maybe “issues/values” rather than “policies”. The suggestions that they need to double-down on the messaging to make it more effective is pretty funny.
Newsome took the new Texas abortion laws and applied the lawsuit logic to people who distribute and manufacture guns (not owners). So if you sell anything illegal or unregistered, you can be sued for it if it comes back to you.
It was inevitable. SCOTUS left a loophole the size of the Suez Canal in the Constitution. Someone was bound to wedge an Ever Given in there.
If politics is now shitty reality tv, this is the mid-season twist that leaves a bunch of these morons crying in front of the camera. I've been less entertained.
The best thing about it is that nobody even has the right to complain about it. It’s not going after gun owners at all, just whoever sells or makes them. If you’re a responsible and safe person like everyone says they are, there’s no reason to worry. The NRA is whining about it, but fuck them.
