She ran unopposed and simply won by default. I'd have to look up the numbers again, but if IIRC, around 30% of the ballots cast were either blank or had a write in. She nearly lost to an empty ballot.
Yeah, that's not accurate at all. She is unfortunately my U.S. representative, and most of the people here either blindly voted for her or loved her rhetoric. She received almost 75% of the votes. Her Democratic opponent withdrew, but he was still on the ballot and received about 25%, so while technically those votes went to nobody, there was actually a name in the Democratic slot that people could select. There are some Republican challengers for the primary this year, but she has worked very hard to become the female embodiment of Trump so she is likely to easily win again. The redistricting last year added some Democratic-leaning areas, but it's still NW Georgia.... I'll do my part and vote against anyone who challenges her though.
The long silences Ketanji Jackson Brown is taking before answering some of these questions is hilarious. It's communicating how long-suffering she is having to deal with these jokes in the Senate without saying a word.
I wonder if there is an amount of money that could be paid to Lindsey Graham to not constantly lick his lips like a fucking sexual predator.
Graham's homosexuality is the worst kept secret in DC. Apparently he likes his "massage therapists" young, athletic and....ethnic. God, if he can get both covid and AIDS and leave us guessing which one killed him, that would be awesome.
“Just imagine if you’re a Catholic and somebody up here called you a nut for speaking in tongues…” - Lindsey Graham ummm…. If you speak in tongues, you ARE a con-artist or a nut and in that case you belong in a mental hospital. Speaking in tongues is objectively bullshit, this was established LONG ago. Is he fucking serious?
True, it’s the Pentecostals do it. That’s why they’re called “Holy rollers” for their physically insane actions in church. What a humiliating form of religion to be born into, that would suck.
My family is Catholic, Latin America Catholic to be exact, yet we grew up across the street from a Pentecostal church. We always found them weird, and they'd play their music loud af which always bothered my grandma, she couldn't hear the novelas over it. They hosted a festival once, took up the whole street which pissed off enough people that it only happened once. But onstage they had a guest preacher who went full tongue speaker, the works. I never felt more catholic in my life.
So should we talk about how the wife of a member of the Supreme Court was involved in a seditious conspiracy and mentioned discussing it with said member of Supreme Court?
Tell me more... Also, now the New York Times is saying that Hunter Biden's laptop is real... I don't know what to think anymore.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/03/24/virginia-thomas-mark-meadows-texts/ They are saying some of the emails that are purportedly from the laptop were authenticated, which I don't think was ever much in question. Whether they came from the laptop (or if the laptop even exists), and whether everything in the cache is similarly authentic, is still unknown.
The funniest part is the Washington Post putting out an op-ed in defense of suppressing the reporting around it.
Are we going to act like the reporting around it wasn't a total joke? The NYPost wouldn't provide any of their supposed evidence to other outlets to verify, Giuliani's story made zero sense, and the NYPost's own writers wouldn't put their name on the story. Even Fox refused to touch it.
No I agree, the reporting around it was a total joke. But hey, now that the NYT deemed the political cost running as low, they can do their annual “commitment to journalistic standards” fist pump.
