Super restrictive gun laws. Stopping the culture where owning a gun, or carrying a gun around is "cool". Requiring boatloads of mental health checkups to continue to own a gun.
So the gop is fucked in the midterms now right? Or will everyone pretend like this didn’t happen by then?
Nothing will come of this. Democrats can't leverage even simple things to get their way or get elected, let alone using a mass shooting for political advantage. The same bullshit that has happened after every one of these shootings will happen now. People will post things online about gun laws, people will post about why gun laws won't work. Politicians will puff up to whichever side they are on and nothing will be accomplished because America as a country is beyond broken at the moment and a school shooting isn't even remotely a big enough deal to bring people together. I honestly don't even think something like 9/11 happening tomorrow would help bring people together.
which is why I’m not even gonna listen to Biden’s address on this tonight. In general I do like him, but I just know it’s gonna be so political that it’ll piss me off. Like, you aren’t taking guns away. That cat isn’t getting back in the bag. And with the way the Supreme Court is running things, good luck getting more restrictive measures going unless it involves women, gays, minorities or poor people.
If overturning Roe v Wade doesn't get people to wake up and vote them out nothing will. I'm not holding my breath.
Thoughts and prayers don’t work, and it’s a shame Biden keeps pandering to stupid fucking Christians.
my facebook feed is filled with people doing that shit right now so I just posted this as a shot across the bow Wanna do something that'll actually help? Teach your children the value of human life. That whether you're gay, straight, right or left handed, black, white, grey or purple doesn't matter. That no matter your religion everyone ultimately worships the same god (or doesn't) and that's okay. That it's also okay to ask for help, and to seek it, whether if something is injured physically or mentally. And if your child isn't acting right, for fuck's sake do not allow them access to firearms.
By November? We'll pretend like it didn't happen by tomorrow afternoon. The Buffalo shooting had a whole-ass white nationalist manifesto attached, and it still had a news cycle shorter than Will Smith slapping Chris Rock.
I mean I was definitely being sarcastic. Yes, I agree with everything you said, but I am like the only openly Christian guy on this board. I don’t have a problem with Biden talking about prayer, and I don’t see it as pandering. I have a lot of people in my socials who rag on the whole thoughts and prayers thing, but they also “send positive energy” and change the border around their Facebook picture and think that’s fixing the world, so fuck them too.
And good for you. In many ways I wish I was religious, as it would be a great coping mechanism in times of need. But I’m not, and I can’t make myself be so…meh, whatever. i hate it when people do the shit like you said. When I was in the hospital with my brain tumor I got so many texts like “I’m sending you my thoughts and prayers.” Or people sent fucking flowers. Dear god all those fucking flowers. We had to get two of those wheely lunch table cart things to move all the flowers and plants and shit to my parents’ car when I got discharged. Do you know who doesn’t give a shit about keeping get well plants alive? This guy. And how about instead of thoughts and prayers you go help my parents pick up the groceries they don’t have time to get, or offer to run to the pharmacy for me, or literally fucking anything other than a “t and p let me know if you need anything” then fucking ghosting. Like yeah bitch, I need a lot. Wanna help? there’s a reason I had a standing rule of anyone could come see me, but they had to bring food. I lost 25 lbs in the hospital and needed to gain back weight to help me recover, as well as not look like a character from a fucking Tim burton flick. Thoughts and prayers work, but only if they’re followed up with action as well.
Yes, and the “action” in this instance can be…all the things you said. Be a positive force in the world, that raises a new and better generation that values human life.
Texas Department of Public Safety on Anderson Cooper was saying this dude was engaged by police before entering the school. Clip on twitter here.
I was wondering about that, since they said he crashed his car, then went into the school. Hell, fought his way into the school. EDIT: Also, does that say Cooper is talking to Ponch?
local news reporting that he was actually being chased by police after shooting his grandmother. He crashed his car through a fence, which there are pictures of and it's just fucking destroyed. Sounds like he was on way to the HS and just decided to go to the elementary when he ran from his truck? Nothing confirmed yet, but it makes sense from where the crash occurred. There's so much info coming out now that it's hard to know what's accurate and what's not. Reports are that the border patrol were some of the first to arrive on scene and got between him and the students in attempt to divert fire. Some reports indicating that he was taken into custody and later died from his injuries. they're also calling parents into the school one by one to take DNA swabs to help identify the bodies. I hate to know what happened that makes them unidentifiable otherwise.' This is one of those things where you just won't know anything for sure until a while after I think
Well I think we can all agree that THIS is unacceptable. We need rampant speculation, and we need it now!
okay, rampant speculation? Say no more fam: I think this was a domestic incident that turned into a school shooting. He was pissed off at his family members and his instagram dm's to that random person were in reference to him doing something in regard to killing family. Then something went awry with his plans, and he chose the next convenient target -- similar to the isla vista shootings where elliot rodger initially targeted a sorority house but didn't know what to do when they didn't let him in to kill them so he targeted random people on the street. Since this piece of shit's school was about to graduate, and police were hot on his tail, decided hey let's go there and left the house with the pistol he had on him (leaving the AR's he had at home behind in his rush). But on his way to his school, he crashed into a ditch that was unfortunately right next to the elementary school. Realized quickly he wasn't making it to the high school, so he jumped out of the totaled truck, ran across their field and fought his way in there killing the students. If he had crashed in a neighborhood, he would have taken hostages in a house. If it was a commercial area, it would have been a shooting in a business. ... how's that for rampant speculation?
