Any murder of a federal government official, family member or a murder committed by military personnel is explicitly a federal crime.

Or if the crime involved crossing state lines, or if it's on federal or reservation property, or if it's a foreign official, or if it falls afoul of the interstate commerce rules, or if it involves national security, or, or, or...

Oh please... if that were the case, then they'd have some sort of federal bureau of investigation or something like that to handle such cases...

In unrelated news, I like how aside from the big political tides of SCOTUS, each justice has their own personal quirks and pet causes. Sotomayor has a raging hardon for the Fourth Amendment for example. And today Gorsuch added another chapter to his "you keep your fucking hands off tribal sovereignty you bitch" stance by just straight up shitting on Kavanaugh's majority opinion.

There are a lot more instances of justices not ruling along C vs. L lines than people realize, they just don’t make the news. Gorsuch’s preoccupation with tribal rights is just one of them.

There are plenty of cases that aren't the usual 6-3, but I was referring more to the issues where you can 100% predict a certain justice's vote just from the topic, regardless of how the other justices vote. I'm pretty sure Gorsuch would legalize scalping if a case came up.

#SupremeCourtIsCompromised is trending on twitter, but when I clicked it it was all about the Supreme Court of India and not SCOTUS. Feels kinda nice to be reminded of our shared incompetent humanity.

Morality ain't got nothing to do with it.

Clutch was right, there's a CDC stat floating around that black women get 23.8 abortions/1000 as compared to 11/1000 for the national average and about 6/1000 for white women. If they can't abort, they go back to the 1970's-1990's in terms of crime, if you believe the "Freakanomics" hypothesis, right around 2035. That would be wildly popular with the security/police apparatus, even without the underlying drug war to antagonize an entire race of people.

Also, if you get an abortion and are convicted of a crime, you lose the right to vote. The punishment might be nothing more than suspended sentence, but if you have thousands of women who are all of the sudden ineligible voters....

It has nothing to do with morality, and lots to do with handicapping populations deemed "unacceptable", such as African Americans and women that just so happen to have the audacity to refuse to vote Republican like the rest of God's chosen people.

If you want to take a quick trip down a rabbit hole, check out the scuttlebutt on the "Georgia Guidestones." They've been the focus of conspiracy theories for years, and one of those nutters blew them up this morning, which is itself being seen as a sign by those self-same nutters.

So, to my knowledge is they were blown up because right wingers declared them “Satanic” since they lack the intelligence to read all the words on them. This is like blowing up the Sudbury Nickel for encouraging Taoism.

Every single thing about this story is embarrassing. Including call it “America’s Stonehenge”— even I’m older than it, something that she doesn’t have any mystique.

Fucking based. He’s got my vote. I even like the Malcom x Clubmaster ray bans. Fun subtle touch. I still put Gavin Newsom’s Florida ad in the most reality bending ad this campaign season.

I think he just watched Mississippi Burning for the first time and mistook in for a viral video. Because of all the CTE he has.

What's reality-bending is Florida somehow twisting "lower COVID restrictions, but higher COVID death, open attacks on free enterprise, public education, voting rights, and gay rights" as freedom. Newsom is right.

Given California is losing a representative with the highest rates of cost of living, taxes, regulations, a homeless crisis that is the laughing stock of the country, I’m sure ol Patrick Bateman will entice them all back with his new pitch.

California has a tenth of the US population, about a 6th of the total US economy and ranks highly in most qualtiy of life, health and happiness comparions of the states.

Florida is famous for white trash, corruption, meth, and is where cunts go to die.

California is more or less its own European country, Florida is Alabama with coke money.

DeSantis dethroning Trump is fine, but taking him seriously as an improvement is laughable.

Ask any teacher in FL what they think of him. Hell, I have staff that refuses to go there, because "Its Florida? Nope."

CA and FL are the only two states I've ever lived in. My shop and the wife's family keep me out here or I'd go back to Florida in a heartbeat.
