The stock market is forward looking. It sold off before the recession. Now it seems to be indicating a short and mild recession, and is therefore rising.

THIS is what I was talking about when I called the Biden administration incompetent (I'll ignore all of the "affirmative action " appointees for the moment).

    The Trump administration WAS unqualified.
But they pushed through the stuff that they really wanted, anyway.

It's the way that they are trying to make the wokest cabinet for the sake of being woke.

Which is fine, IF they were actually good at their jobs and got things done for the American people.

Are you trying to tell me that Kamala Harris is a good vice president?
Or even a good person, for that matter? Because she seems like a condescending cunt to me, and she's not even smart or competent enough to pull that off.

I honestly don't know enough about her to make that judgment. From what I've read, her record as a prosecutor in California was iffy, but then again she was great against Mr. "electrocute the gay away" pence. And tbh, my measuring stick for the Dem ticket last run was "can they beat trump?" They did, so they're a success in that regard. I certainly don't like the fact that they haven't done a whole lot since being elected -- mainly on climate policies, protecting the environment, and legalizing marijuana (also to help with the private jail problem) -- which has been my main concern. They certainly could and should have done more, and hopefully will, in regard to the SCT decision taking away women's rights, as well as gerrymandering.

That being said, again I judge them against getting that fat orange piece of corrupt shit out of office. So yeah, she's been great in that regard. Hopefully I won't have to vote for her again.

I get it, man. I voted AGAINST Trump, not FOR Biden.
I wasn't expecting much, but I was expecting better than what we got:

Kamala Harris : "(awkward laugh) What border crisis?"
(How much do you want to bet that her answer to the border immigration issue is to send other countries more money, with no accountability?)

Pete Buttigieg: "Roads are racist, and high gas prices are actually a good thing. Just go buy an electric car."

    Janet Yellen: "It's transitory inflation."

Biden* could have picked the best people, but this is what we got.

*I'm sure Biden didn't personally vet any of those people.

It's a fair point. He's nowhere near as competent as Mitch McConnel's wife. Who got the Secretary of Transportation job out of sheer competence, I'm sure.

I mean sure, if you reduce everything down to a Fox News soundbite and remove all context and detail, you can make it sound stupid. Buttigieg was referring to the history of redlining, the construction of highways that were routed through (and thereby destroyed) minority neighborhoods instead of white neighborhoods (and were built to the benefit of white neighborhoods in the suburbs), and specifically about an anecdote in Robert A. Caro's biography of Robert Moses in which Moses instructed his engineers to design the bridges to be too low for a city bus (which poor and minorities rode) to be able to fit under, while a passenger car (which wealthier white residents owned) could.

Sigh... Yes, some roads in the past were "designed " to be racist... Back in the day.

We have height requirements for bridges and overpasses now.

Did we replace the Interstate Highway System with a totally new system while I was asleep?

And as Eisenhower rode down the modest Lincoln Highway, hitting potholes and ruts and stretches of dirt roads, he thought to himself, “We could fix this…make sure it really fucks with the blacks.”

Pete Buttchug is a complete piece of shit. He's playing what he sees as his best card for winning for himself. He hasn't done anything worthy of note, and when it comes to the loss of women's rights, he couldn't care less. He's too busy looking at Afghani lithium with hungry eyes, and that's why he's looking at the electric car as his saviour. The geological map of Afghanistan, and the fact that some of the first boots on the ground in occupied Afghanistan were geologists wasn't by mistake. The fact of the matter is that taking "woke" talking points while pushing forward and allowing regressive politics makes you a disingenuous asshole. His analysis of redlining is whatever the most palpable neoliberal interpretation will be. He's trying to be every suburban Mom's gay bff, while being "a troop" for the manly men.

Kamala was deeply unpopular, but you've gotta make some kind of deal to get those cretins to sabotage Bernie. It was something that would let all the Idpol people get their dicks hard, while giving them nothing. Much more appealing to the upper crust than letting the poors have a chance.

Yellen did nothing wrong. That was the economic doctrine since the birth of the Chicago school. A lot of things came together to make this hit hard. It's much more akin to a 3 mile island incident than a "should have seen this coming" thing. That being said, there were signs that things were going to crash, and the repubs play a much longer, less reactionary, game than the dems do. Losing in 2020 was fantastic for them, and when ever people talk about the most votes in history or whatever for Biden, it's important to remember that Trump was a close #2.

I'm not saying that you're wrong, but exactly how are mayor Pete and his butt-budies going to get ahold of that lithium?

We left Trashcanistan, and the Taliban is quickly taking it back to the 12th century.

Last I heard, China is trying to push their "Belt and Road" bullshit with those Islamic goat-fuckers.

On the one hand, fuck Winnie the Pooh and anyone in his cabinet who thinks they have the right to tell people what countries they're allowed to visit, if Pelosi wants to do Taiwan she has every right to do it.
On the other, I'm too old for the draft so I'm in no danger of being deployed, so it's easy for me to say.

I've never been in the military so grain of salt and all that but I think if (when?) we go to war with China, there will be very little "boots on the ground" type of action. I feel that we have way more sophisticated weapons that we don't use in the middle east due to not wanting to show our hand. I think a war with China would be drones, cyber and missiles and just hope to whatever god you pray to that neither side escalates it to nuclear.
