Jesus. I missed the event but I heard about this. Didn't know it was that bad though. Might just save myself the pain and look up the results.

And it took all those dudes bombing out just for Farris to get 10th.

Slightly late, but the tie breaker in gymnastics was bullshit. Dropping the lowest score rewards the specialists in what is supposed to be the all around competition.

Just to vent: is anyone else completely SICK AND TIRED of seeing Michael Phelps's mother? I mean, it's almost ridiculous. I'd so much rather see the whole crowd (who are also excited) and the other fucking medalists than this woman. I feel like she puts it on a bit for the camera, too. She had a freakishly proportioned son...but he made it happen. I'm an avid swimming fan but all this shit with her makes me not want to watch it.

Other than that, I have a theory that if you take off Roger Federer's shirt, he is half man/half machine like Darth Vader. I swear, how is someone THAT good? I'm really psyched for Sunday to see if Murray can knock him off and get the home country a gold for tennis. Going to be an epic match.

They had his match on two channels this morning and the other two were meh. I watched a Daria marathon. That's how little I care about watching non Americans compete with non Americans. I was sad to see the mens beach volleyball team break down, their last matches looked terrible.

I’m a fan of Federer and was happy he regained the top seed after taking home another Wimbledon this year. I have co-workers that are English and Scotish, so I’ll be cheering against Murray yet again.

I was at a bar tonight and saw that the Canadian women’s team beat the England today. I’ll definitely be rubbing that in at work on Tuesday.

I root for Murray at the Championships at Wimbledon itself, because the British have graciously and politely allowed every other country to stomp their asses in that tournament for decades, but in all other matches I root for Federer over Murray.

I haven't watched a minute of swimming this entire Olympics. Feels fucking good.

Am I the only one who thinks swimming medals are overvalued? They should count for 1/3 of a medal. That way, when you win 3, you can stick them together and make 1 real gold medal.

I've been a Diana fan since her UConn days. That said, I'm going with one of the weightlifters. Either Julia Rohde (posted before) or Lidia Valentin:

Honorable (pedo) mention to McKayla Maroney, who has permanent slut-face despite being only 16. Just Google her - every picture, it's ridiculous.

Tough call, my instincts tell me Lochte, but apparently he's just stupid. White on the other hand is not dumb but has vastly more money. Based on the fact that young and wealthy inherently makes people have douchey attitudes I'd give this one to White. But you know, he's ginger, so he has no soul, so Lochte for the win.

For the love of god, instead of showing Olympics right now, NBC is talking about who was tweeted the most and tagged on Facebook the most and giving out their own "social media medals". They used the word tweens and, mentioned Hunger Games too. This reporting is making me sick. At least they switched to track and field right after. Fuck NBC.

How the fuck is racewalking an Olympic sport? Deliberately hampering yourself to go slower is a retarded concept for an Olympic sport. It's almost as stupid as if backwards swimming were an Olympic... wait a second...

    They cheat anyways:

I was all ready to make fun of trampolining as an Olympic sport until I watched a bit last night. Dudes get some air!

How fucking fast is Usain Bolt? He looks like he's not putting in any effort for the Gold and then breaks his own Olympic record, only about 5 hundredths of a second off his own World Record. I reckon he's about one race away from generating that 1.21 gigawatts and generating a portal for time travelling.

It must suck to be Justin Gatlin.

EDIT: Spoilered because I realise many of you probably don't see the Olympics live. How can we, in bumblefuck South Africa, have 4 dedicated sports channels for the Games and you guys get a lot of delayed stuff or with shitty commentary?

Here's me trying not to spoil too much of the 100m sprint. Instead, I will talk way too patriotically about our tiny country nobody gives a shit about. But as a Dutch guy, I will say this: It's fucking awesome to see another Dutch (well, kind of Dutch) guy in the 100m final.
And, while being comprehensively beaten by the top 3, managed a good run.
    .

While we don't have anything near the amount of medals as you guys, or China or the British, it's kind of great to see us in the top ten (Hungary currently sits in the number 10 spot, but we have a windsurfer who already won his competition, but has to wait until the last game is over to collect his medal, so basically we're ahead). Although the tournament isn't done yet, it makes me proud to see us ahead of larger countries like Spain, Australia and Japan. While also within spitting distance of Russia and Germany.

I think it's also funny that people only talk about the USA and Australia during the swimming events. While we didn't have a Phelps or Thorne, we had a lot of men and women who won some great medals. Kromowidjojo is only 21, but won the 100m and 50m competitions, while also carrying the team to silver in the 4x100 freestyle. Holland doesn't dominate the event like the US and Australia, but still manages some big wins none the less.

Now if only, for the sake of our sanity, we can leapfrog Kazachstan. When did those assholes decide to collect some gold medals? Shouldn't they be busy stealing each other's wives from horseback?

And you guys have a team full of smokeshows playing field hockey...

Supposedly he is dating Bar Refaeli which if true means he is some sort of sorcerer and makes me hate him even more.

Apparently you haven't heard: Kazakhstan Namba Wan.

KAZAKH STRONG. They should have just let Ilyin lift until he failed. He had more left in the tank.

And tomorrow, we've got Akkaev lifting 4 days after back surgery.
This will either be glorious or terrifying.
