Interesting, because one thing the show has done different from the books is remove the stench of incompetence from Dany. By far my least favorite character in the books, and made Dance of Dragons painful reading at times.
Isn't she a lot younger in the books though, like early teens? Maybe they removed it because she's older on the show. With Robb acting like a boob and obviously dooming his rebellion Dani is probably overwhelmingly the fan favourite of the the show's many factions. Why wouldn't we root for her? Her story has been eaily the most magnetic plot this year, making up for that yawn-inducing speedbump they threw her into last season. It's more like the awesomeness she was hung up in season 1.
HOLY FUCK. YES. That was foreshadowed, but such badass contempt for your audience. Annihilate the entire north army? Fuck you and die. And let us not forget Jorah and company whooping some ass like they own it. Could this shit get any more awesome? The season isn't even over yet!
9th episode of the season, every year. 10th episode will be some wrap-up with a big finale to end the season and lead to next year. It was so hard to watch that episode knowing what was coming, and especially hard not to say something to my wife, who hasn't read the books.
I know season three and four are one book, but they need to keep up this momentum. Dani is obviously the fan favourite now, but a brick could get dropped on her head tomorrow. I think this trumps season one even, but Cersei or Joffrey need to die horribly soon. They need to throw a bone and kill a piece of shit so we can feel warm and cuddly. I also love Clegane and Arya together, because they are both so damn clever and defiant towards everything. Their personalities bounce off each other really well.
Holy Christ. I knew what was coming but that was fucking brutal. After the way Theon was gelded I should have known they would find a way to make the Red Wedding even worse and they did. Jeyne's murder was revolting and almost painful to watch, all in all they did a good job but holy fuck.
In the books he stays at Riverrun to hold down the fort. I'm just imagining a scene in the writer's room where they're like "Well... the Blackfish is at the red wedding, how do we get him out alive? Fuck it, he goes to take a piss." I would have loved to see a scene where he and Edmure both come back into the hall zipping up their fly and looking at each other sheepishly. Then they walk into the main hall and see dozens of dead bodies everywhere and get really confused.
Knowing that was coming didnt make it any easier to watch, but it was done very well. I wonder how long before Dany jumps Sir Fabio's balls. EDIT: Twitter is going apeshit saying it was the most disturbing scene ever on TV. I contend these people probably don't watch Boardwalk Empire.
I love the look Jorah gave Dario when he was putting the moves on Dani. "Get the FUCK off my Kool-aid!!!"
Well shitballs. I think what was really executed well was the tension in the wedding scene between Bolton and Catlyn. It set the uneasy mood and foreshadowed the betrayal nicely. I was very drained after watching the episode. Fuck. So I guess the Lannisters win then huh? All they have to do is chase off the raiding Greyjoy's and that war is over. Honestly, Im not 100% with Crown's assertion that Dani is the show's main star or favorite (I think Tywin is the clear fan favorite....). While definitely in the running, her story taking place so far and disconnected from all of the main action in Westeros that I honestly don't care as much when she sacks some random city on the far side of the world. While this new model guy and Mormont's chemistry, or lack of, is something to look forward too her story hasn't topped what occurred with her in the first season/book, burning the slave masters probably the highest point since. I feel bad for Jon and Egritte. I mean I have to think he'd have taken her with him had it not been for Summer and Shaggy Dog's attacks on the wildlings. He probably figured out they boys were near and rode off quickly to maybe draw the others with him. Egritte didn't seem to take his leaving well.
Tywin is hands down the coolest leader of all the factions, I meant it on a good guys vs. bad guys standpoint. You can't really cheer for Tywin since he's still a miserable, murderous prick.
Shit sorry I meant Tyrion. Who, though in the "bad guys" faction seems to have more than his self interest at heart. Plus he drops the best zingers. And Bronn. * AAAANNNNNND I just read, or think what I read before I averted my eyes from the wiki entry, a large spoiler for Bronn. I swear I don't know how you book readers even watch the show knowing basically every big twist and turn. I need to stop reading wikipedia entries.
I only use the wiki to find out pre-show stories, like the Targerean invasion and Roberts rebellion. I ended up figuring out a twist about Ned's sister that hasn't been revealed yet, I'm sure others have too.
