Especially if they catch up to the books before they're completed. They'd be a good filler while everyone waited for the final book to be completed. Spartacus did a prequel season which worked tremendously.
I read somewhere that GRRM has no interest in either penning a standalone Robert's Rebellion or seeing a version of it on the small screen. Something to the effect of it being more useful as lore for ASOIAF to draw upon. He also said that ultimately all the unanswered questions from RR will be answered in ASOIAF. That's not to say HBO won't make an RR miniseries after Martin kicks it.
You always point out the most interesting things. Well they're not really going to do a standalone series because there is a major mystery sitting in said lore that is going to be a huge reveal. Don't want to spoil it, but it of course has to do with lineage. Its hard to pick up on the show, but if you rewatch Season 1 now you'd probably catch a whiff of it in the first few episodes.
Hell yeah, she was Emma Peel on The Avengers, one of the sexiest characters ever. Also a Bond girl in one of the worst Bond movies.
Honestly the first thing I thought of was... Granted, side by side, its off, but something about it resonated. She was very elven.
Ah, you're not putting the tiny little details together. This is an advanced catch for a non-book reader, but this guy has been paying attention. Skip to the part with Oberyn of course. <a class="postlink" href="http://grantland.com/hollywood-prospectus/ask-the-maester-answers-to-nagging-questions-about-the-game-of-thrones-season-premiere/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://grantland.com/hollywood-prospect ... -premiere/</a>
Yeah, cry your eyes out all you want bitch YOUR LITTLE COCKSUCKER MUTANT IS DEAD. Didn't he die great? In pain, scared, death rattle. Sweet release you vile little shit. Tyrion obviously didn't do it, Im thinking Olenna when she dropped that line about Robb murdered at the wedding she had to have something to do with it. It was the cake, right? Maergery nailed him. I was really impressed with that wedding set. A LOT of work went into that. And Ser Loras had the best aww-snap comeback on Jaime. Roose Bolton reminds me of Tywin a lot, only scarier. He definitely owns the room. That was episode 2. What sights must still to come.
My guess is Cersi. Fucking wicked bitch. She sent Grand Maester Pycell off mid ceremony. Someone who could theoretically have saved him. But I sat up when he started coughing and started cheering. God it couldn't feel better to see a imaginary person die.
Yeah, told you guys. Too much shit to happen in just episode 9. Also, you guys should have seen this coming. Seriously, Melissandre doesn't fuck around then again, did she just see it happen? Or did she make it happen? So interesting...
Im thinking it was either Cersei or Sansa. Cersei has the most to gain, considering the marriage hasn't been consummated yet. If I'm not mistaken, this means the throne passes to her daughter, preserving her position as queen regent. Sansa doesn't have anything obvious to gain other than revenge, but she could have slipped something into the cup when she picked it up from under the table. And it seems awfully coincidental that the guy appeared so quickly to whisk her away. Either way, thank god that fucker is dead
She has another son so the throne passes to him first. Son comes before daughter regardless of age, with Dorne being the only exception I think. He's like 9 or something at the moment so obviously he's too young to rule though. Watching Joffrey die was every bit as satisfying as I had hoped.
The only problem with this theory is that it ignores Cersi's one major character trait: her unyielding love for her kids. She goes on and on about how her kids are the most important things to her. She knows Joffrey is a shithead, but he is HER shithead. She isn't killing him. If anything, she'd want to kill Margery.
No way, Cersei would have been ridiculously out-of-character. It's been demonstrated several times that she is extremely devoted to her children, to the point of probably being a terrible mother because of it. Cersei is ruthless, vindictive, and petty, but she'd never kill her own child - she loved Joffrey despite the fact that he was (goddamn it feels good to use past-tense here) a monster. Also, with Joffrey dead, wouldn't the throne pass to Joffrey's little brother Tommen first? As for Sansa, I don't think she has the resources, guts or skills to do something like this. Tyrion is obviously out, because he wouldn't have put himself in this precarious position in the first place if he was the one planning the murder. Based on process of elimination, the safe bet seems to be the Tyrells. They like having an alliance with the Lannisters, but having a monster like Joffrey on the throne isn't good for them (or anybody else, for that matter).
