My guess is they want it to be a Big Reveal. We've seen one full shot of their"kingdom" and one giant, so Im hoping for a grand spectacle. And violence, lotsa that shit.
Looks like episode ten is going to be a bit more than their usual sorting shit out, setting things up for the next season episode. Can't wait to see everything come together.
Haven't watched it yet, but I have a general idea what happened last night. Holy shit episode 10 is going to be 50+ minutes of pure skullfucking WTF. Can't wait for it and I haven't even seen episode 9!
Episode 10 will be 66 mins of pure skullfucking WTF. Not the usual 50. Thank Christ because I have no idea how they were going to fit it all in.
The episode was pretty good, and I was about to warn the non book readers that they better enjoy this upcoming episode, because next up is 'Feast' and 'Dance' and while I'm curious as to how those books will be handled, they definitely are the two weakest in the series. Now to the bitching. The whole Ygritte and Jon scene really pissed me off. One of the things that I found I loved about the books was the ambiguity. Everything wasn't so nice and neat. Like the poisoning of Joffrey. You have a decent idea, but you're not really sure. The whole Gilly/Sam storyline has been handled like a backstreet abortion. While it certainly wasn't a major storyline in the book, it made sense as far as the characters go. I really hope that they stay a bit more faithful to the books going forward, because the problems are piling up. For instance: Spoiler The whole Littlefinger thing. Yes, I get it, the age of the kids was upped, which I thought was a bad move from the start. This storyline is a perfect example. By not having the troubadour involved, and Sansa being older (and being much more conniving than in the book, Littlefinger looks like a fucking amateur/perv. I don't mind the perv per se, but it didn't come through that way in the book. For such a far thinking and manipulative guy, they really had Littlefinger at the mercy of Sansa, which is a complete bastardization of the character. Littlefinger would never have put himself in that position.
Can't wait for the next episode. Hour of pure fighting, cant fucking wait. But why did the hot red head have to die.
I'm glad that kid killed Ygritte. She shot his dad through the head right in front of him, poetic justice doesn't happen often in this show. Besides, that actress is also busy acting on the most boring, overrated show in human history.
Watched the episode last night, I think something was missing. Not sure there was enough invested into the characters that died to really care as opposed to Blackwater. I feel like the gap between the last time Ygritte and Jon were seen together to when she died in his arms was really far off, pulled some of the weight of the situation away. All of the special effects and were nuts. There are still more to come. The beginning of episode 10, should have ended episode 9, but oh well. HBO is just swinging its dick right now, call it Mandingo.
I'm not a person who has read the books of this series so I enjoy watching as if it is all new to me. That being said, I am really surprised they held the castle during that battle. It was a great episode and I think the way Ygritte died was appropriate. We all knew their feelings for each other never really went away. Just the public image behind it.
Shit. Tywin went out just like Elvis in the end, with a whore in his bed. Disgraced completely. Ha! Eat shit, asshole. Although Dance as an actor will be missed. I wish Stannis' invasion wasn't foreshadowed so heavily, it would have been a great twist. So Bran and Hodor are like "Master Blaster" from Beyond Thunderdome I guess. It certainly makes him formidable, but it (once again) ended murky and unanswered with him. My big hope eventually is for Arya to find Jaqin (Jacken?). He was an awesome character.
Well it was good. Not greeeeeaaaat. I seriously heard how this episode was going to be 3 red weddings rolled into one(or maybe it was the whole season whatevs). I really really really was hoping that girl Tyrion was sneaking up on was Cersei. I mean I get it was the pay off to Tyrion and Tywin's long standing bad relationship when it came to whores Tyrion loved, but fuck did I want Cersei to die. Killing Tywin HELPS that bitch too. She back as queen regent with sole power over the king and she doesn't have to marry off to the fruit cake. I really wanted to see some fall out from her telling Tywin the truth. After that scene I was thinking he might spare Tyrion and have her killed or banished but it went from him gobsmacked at the truth to him shitting on the toilet. I heard that the whole Children of the Forrest scene was basically in the latest book? Guess burning the bodies doesn't help? Different necromancers? My friend said purist will be going nuts about that and the whole Brienne Hound fight. I hope The Hound somehow makes it as he is one of my favorite minor characters in the books. I mean fuck if The Mountain can survive poisoning and weird experimental medical treatment, shiiiit. I can't wait for the Tyrion and Varys' spin off beyond the narrow sea. Hopefully they will run into Dany and give us a reason to give a shit about her storyline again. I mean it wasn't what it was made out to be. There were countless headlines I skipped past this week claiming this was going to be THE GoTs episodes to end all. It wasn't but it was a hell of a lot better than last season's finale. Probably, in terms of settling the seasons lines and laying down next seasons path, the best season finale since the first season. I am also digging the shit out of score of this show as of late. They really stepped their game up.
They left out one huge reveal (probably saving it for early next season), and an important speech/conversation out of the Tywin/Tyrion interaction. I'd imagine the only people who actually dislike the episode would be book readers who are already annoyed at some of the minor changes. Personally, none of them have bothered me at all, as it allows me to have an altered experience as to the one I had reading the books. For people who hadn't read the books, I imagine the episode would do enough for them, and the only source of disappointment would be as a result of the hype created by book readers who expected certain other things to take place.
I'm disappointed. Even my husband who isn't a book reader was very underwhelmed by the whole thing. I just can't believe they ended it where they did but I guess book 4 and 5 are so slow that they need something to make it interesting.
