Karma is going to have to bite my ass at some point this season. I foresee half a dozen high ankle sprains in the coming weeks. Not advice, just want to observe the ridiculousness of it all: - Of the top 10 non-QB players in PPG, I own 6 of them: #1, 2, 5, 7, 9, 10. - Of those, #2 and #5 were off waivers (#2 was a waiver + trade). - #5 is KC D/ST, #7 is Jordy Nelson, both projected outside their position's top 20 going into the season. Even setting aside the fact that we have a couple guys who don't know what they're doing, this is patently absurd.
The guy who has Megatron has had him chilling on his bench the past two weeks. Meanwhile, my team is severely lacking in superstars. I just sent him a trade request for a shitty WR that I have had on my bench. I am pretty hopeful that it will go through.
I may play him on his bye next week, just in case he catches an errant ball and stumbles into the end zone on his way to dinner.
I was incorrect, he actually hasn't played him for 4 weeks now. So basically half the season. Meanwhile, if I have two players on my team who score over 20 points in a week I feel like I'm doing pretty good.
So I have a seeming plethora of middling WR talent scrapped together and now find myself with too many options going into this week. Right now I have all of the following on my roster: DeSean Jackson Alshon Jeffery Andre Johnson Terrance Williams Percy Harvin Right now I'm leaving Harvin on the bench since he's still not listed to play this week, but other than him, who should I bench? I know the projections don't usually mean much, but Johnson is the lowest projected receiver of the other 4 for this week. On the other hand, Jackson looks like he's about to have a major drop-off due to their QB situation. Also, I need to pick up a backup QB for my bye week (11) and since my original backup, Cutler is out, I'm looking to pick up a guy based on their matchup. My best 4 options are Palmer vs the Jags, Geno Smith vs the Bills, Pryor vs the Texans or Alex Smith vs the Broncos.
Pryor or Alex Smith? Seems to me that one is likely to get me either 3 or 20 points, and the other will dependably get me about 12.
Here is my lineup this week. Few injuries that need to be monitored, so I am not sure if this is the way I should play it. QB: Matt Ryan RB: A. Foster, F. Jackson (bench C Johnson, P Thomas, M James) WR: B. Marshall, J Gordon (bench A Jeffrey, P Harvin, M Jones) TE: J Reed D/ST: Saints K: Gostskowski Other questions....it's probably about time to pick up a BU QB and TE, isn't it? Both have had byes already, but long term would it be better to have options there or to have a bench of back up options for WR and RB in the inevitable event of injury? I also finally dropped Bilal Powell and Colston. I bet they'll probably both finally have breakout weeks now that they aren't stinking up my lineup anymore.
Don't bother picking up backups if you already went through bye weeks. I'd stash people on IR that are set to come back. Vereen, Mannigham, Crabtree, etc. I'd bench Foster and start Johnson. Locker is actually turning out to be a good QB and Johnson is going to have some big games coming up if their passing attack continues to be good. Also, I doubt you are going to find a better TE/QB on the waiver wire than Reed or Ryan.
I know Foster is injured, but in my head I envision it turning out to be a similar scenario to the mocking of my friend for benching Megatron after he has a monster week coming off an injury. So, do you think those coming off IR are any better than my current batch of WR? Who would I drop? Vareen is already taken, I feel like where I need improvement is RB.
Smith, IMO. The Broncos may be good, but their secondary is swiss cheese, and Smith has been putting up 20+ point games all season.
See if you can nab Andre Brown off waivers. Maybe grab Mike Tolbert if no one has him. Anyone willing to trade for a starting RB? I'd try and swing a Marshall+Johnson for Bush or someone equivalent.
I think Smith is the better start. He's certainly a more reliable option and the Broncos are not a good defensive unit. For what it's worth, I'm monitoring the Foster situation until Sunday morning before making a decision. However, Chris Johnson has a pretty good matchup against the Rams this week so that's a good play if you want to hedge against Foster. Right now, I'm trying to decide what to do with Amendola. I kept hoping he'd have a good week so I could trade him, but jeez, what a flop. It's hard to drop the ostensibly #1 receiver for Tom Brady. Feels like a wasted roster spot right now.
I'm sitting Foster for Le'Veon Bell. The 8:30pm game on Sunday means all of my other backup RBs will have already played, and Kubiak is saying Foster is a game time decision.
So again I'm stuck with my weekly matchup decision between Alshon Jeffery against the Packers or Andre Johnson against the Colts as my 3rd WR. I'm already locked in with DeSean Jackson and Terrance Williams as my top two. I suppose I could have much worse choices to make.
Feeling bad about your FF week? I started Matt Ryan because why not? Sure, he had a bad week, but he'll bounce back, right? Guess who I left on my bench? That's right, Tom Brady, who out of nowhere scores like 40 points. That really stings. Well, okay, lets scroll down a little farther and take a look at my OTHER bench QB. Oh yeah, that backup for the Eagles, Nic Foles. How'd he do? Nothing too crazy, just an NFL RECORD TYING 7 TOUCHDOWN PASSES AND 50 GODDAMN POINTS! I left 90 QB points ON MY BENCH. I'm going to lose by about 10 points this week. Not enough alcohol in the world. In. The. World.
I played Matt Ryan too. What happened to him? Is it going to continue? Sad thing is even if I had played Foles or Brady (or probably both) I'd still be a big fat loser because my opponent currently has 158 points, and Andre Johnson still has 45 minutes of game time. How do you compete against that?
