Last week left me with a lot of questions on my roster. Right now, it is as follows: QB: Romo RB: Chris Johnson RB: Jamaal Charles W/T: Reggie Wayne W/T: Dwayne Bowe W/T: Malcolm Floyd W/T/R: Jahvid Best K: Janikowski Def: KC BN: Naanee BN: Brent Celek BN: Jeremy Maclin The rest on my bench have no chance of starting (McNabb and Donald Brown). I truly don't know who to start after Wayne. Bowe was absent last week, and I don't know that he'll fare better at Cleveland. Floyd was also absent, while Rivers is clearly developing a lot of chemistry with Naanee. Best is going against a stiff defense, but if ANYONE on Det is going to score, it will be Best or Calvin Johnson. Celek and Maclin are going against Detroit, and I don't WANT to start both. Celek is more of a sure thing, Maclin has a much higher ceiling. Any advice is welcome, I may be overanalyzing. Romo, Johnson, Charles, and Wayne are all in for sure, after that I just don't know.
I think you are overanalyzing. I would give Bowe a bit of a pass after last week's game. It was pouring rain, and the Chiefs especially were running the ball pretty well. I think Cassel had like 68 yards passing or something ridiculously low like that. I cannot imagine that things will be that bad again this week. Bowe's problems have always been drops, so there's a bit of a risk with him, but his match up this week is too good to pass up in my opinion. And I have him on my team as well, and I definitely plan on starting him. As for Floyd, I might consider benching him until things shake out between him and Nanee. I think Nanee might have been a fluke last week. His long TD pass was pure blown coverage by the Chiefs. They were WAY too focused on Gates and just let Nanee slip by wide open for the easy TD. I doubt that happens every week, and I would hesitate to make a conclusion on the receiving corp in San Diego after that mess of a Monday night game. I personally think Celek will be the better play this week. Vick threw to his TE a lot in Atlanta, and I would not be surprised if that continues to be the case this weekend. But like you said, Maclin has the higher upside, so it comes down to whether you can weather a low score from him to take the risk on the upside. I have a question on my RBs. I don't have any great options to choose from for my 3rd back, but I have to anyway. I have: Beanie Wells at ATL Justin Forsett at Denver Brandon Jacobs at Indy Fred Jackson at GB I'm leaning towards Beanie, but none of the options are all that great. Any thoughts?
None of those are great options, no, but Beanie's knee is a little banged up, and I still think teams are going to stack Arizona against the run and dare Derek Anderson to beat them. Add to that Beanie's less-than-stellar pre-season, and I don't think I'd start him against a solid team like Atlanta. I also wouldn't start anyone against GB's defense. Green Bay's defense hasn't lost a step from last year, and they are going to be dominant. So, it comes down to Jacobs at Indy and Forsett at Denver. My vote there is for Jacobs. Indy has shown time and time and time again that they are incredibly weak against the run, and also once again, they have lost their "best" defensive player for the year (best in quotes because until that fucker plays an entire year without turning into Mr. Glass from Unbreakable, I won't even acknowledge him by name). Forsett just doesn't have my vote of confidence, and while it is abundantly clear that Bradshaw is now 'the man' on the Giants, I fully think Jacobs will have a good week. He is a strong bruising back going against an undersized defense. Jacobs is the kind of guy you put in to wear out the defense before Bradshaw breaks off a long one, and he is also the guy you put in when you have to punch it in from inside the 5. I think Jacobs is the guy in that particular group, but it is ENTIRELY because of matchup. If he weren't facing Indy this week, I'd wouldn't be able to pick between those 4.
Opinions on who to play please. Need to play a WR and a WR/RB position. 6 points per TD, 0.5 PPR Bowe @ Cle Maclin @ Det Forsett @ Den Ricky Williams @ Min Barber @ Chi I'm leaning Bowe for the WR and Forsett for the Flex. Really not sure who to play for the flex though, Maclin might be better with the receptions
Maclin is definitely high risk-high reward. Going against Detroit but has Vick throwing to him. I'd expect him to get either 3-4 or 14-15. I'd definitely say Bowe though. I wouldn't go Ricky, Forsett may be a good option and Barber may pound Chicago. Tough call but I would expect around 6-8 points from that flex. Here's a debate for you: who to start this week - TO or Ochocinco. I know this sounds crazy but I think I'm leaning towards TO this week. He didn't get a ton of catches last week and you know Carson will want to spread it around. Add in that Baltimore will key in on Ocho and Rice more, he may be free to catch an easy(er) TD if they down down to the redzone.
So, I am one of the lucky ones who drafted Kolb and have Roethlisberger on my bench and missed out on Vick. Here is my roster (12 team league, 1 point per reception): QB: Kolb, Big Ben WR: Andre Johnson, S. Smith NYG, Hines Ward, Malcom Floyd, Mark Clayton RB: Pierre Thomas, LeSean McCoy, LT, Jerome Harrison, Justin Forsett TE: Zach Miller K: Akers DEF: Carolina Based on this, I think Kolb is going to be the one that needs to go, right? I don't want to drop anyone else. My options on the wire are: Campbell vs. STL Hasselbeck @ DEN Anderson @ ATL Cassel vs. CLE Garrard @ SD I'm not sure who to go with here, but I am tempted to use Hasselbeck. Thoughts?
I have two teams that are not TiB board related. Tell me what you think... ESPN league: QB: Joe Flacco RB: M J-D RB:Ryan Matthews Flex: Lee Evans WR: Roddy White WR: Chad Ochocinco TE: Brent Celek D: Cowboys K: Matt Prater BN: Michael Crabtree BN: Fred Jackson BN: Johnny Know BN: Chad Henne Yahoo League: QB: Brett Favre WR: Andre Johnson WR: Roddy White WR: Steve Smith (Carolina) RB: Pierre Thomas RB: Clinton Portis TE: Tony Gonzales Flex: Anquan Boldin K: Steven Gostkowski D: Green Bay DP: Mike Vrabel DP: D.J. Williams BN: Ricky Williams BN: Shonn Greene BN: Jeremy Maclin BN: Matt Ryan
Who has two thumbs and DIDN'T start Jahvid Best in one of his leagues this week? THIS GUY! Still won, but fuck, I could've broken 200 points...
I started Best, Vick, and Andre Johnson. Those 3 got me >100. Already have the win wrapped up, and still have Colston tomorrow night. Best more than made up for Ryan Mathews' performance/injury. Arian Foster last week and Best this week? I could get used to this.
On the Best note... got proposed this trade: Best for Miles Austin and Mike Wallace... should I take it? Starting team: QB - Favre RB - AP RB - McCoy RB/WR - Best WR - Jennings WR - Edwards WR - Royal WR/TE - Lloyd TE - Celek Also have Peyton Hillis on the bench (and stupidly started him over Best today on a matchup call)
I take back almost everything I said about Matt Schaub. 497 yards, 3tds and only 1 interception. Plus that finish was amazing to watch. Fuck yeah football season is here! And a big thanks to OldCrow for his suggestion of Mark Clayton. He did very well for me this week, too. Do you think he will be a consistent performer, or was this week luck?
Keep him for now as your WR2/flex. - He's been in the league a while, but was originally a 1st round draft pick, so obviously has/had talent. - Bradford is legit. - He had 5 targets. Nothing close to last week, but that's still not too bad. - Got redzone looks (and 2 touchdowns). - The biggest reason you should keep him for now, even though he only had 2 catches: Asomugha (however you spell it) is pretty unanimously the 2nd best cover corner in the NFL, and was matched up on him ALL game. Other WR's to keep an eye on, depending how deep your league is: - Demaryius Thomas. 97 and a TD. Rookie WR's usually don't produce too well, and Orton is spreading the ball around, but he has the talent to produce, and Denver will throw a lot. Schedule later in the year is: Oak, @SF, BYE, KC, @SD, STL, @KC, @ARI, @OAK, HOU. Lot of good matchups besides OAK. If you have room on bench, maybe pick him up now. If he has 1 more solid week, he won't be available anymore. - Mike Williams (TB). Another rookie WR, but has 2 TD's in 2 weeks, and Freeman likes him. Should already be on a roster, but maybe isn't. - Kevin Walter. Wouldn't pick him up yet, but keep an eye on Andre Johnson's ankle injury. If he is out for any time, I think him and Jacoby Jones almost become must-starts.
I don't think Andre is going to be out. Even after the injury he came back and made that awesome jump-catch for the TD. I can't imagine he'd come back for that game, then sit out the next one. Even at 80%, Andre Johnson is still one of the top 5 WR in football.
My team (non-PPR, 10 rush yds=1pt, 6pt Td) Qb - Matt Schaub Rb1 - MJD Rb2 - Addai Wr1 - ochocinco Wr2 - Knox W/t1 - Santana Moss W/t2 - Mark Clayton K - Crosby Def - NYG BN - D. Mason BN - Heath miller BN - DeAngelo Williams BN - Eli Manning BN - Owen Daniels BN - Indy Def Trade proposed: I give MJD and Mark Clayton, and get Malcom Floyd Thomas Jones Joshua Cribbs Whatcha think? My initial reaction is no... Clayton has been a solid performer lately and MJD is due to hit soon... I hope.
I wouldn't do that trade. Not at all. MJD alone is worth more than all three of those players you would get.
This. Clayton will be more consistent than Floyd anyway, and Jones doesn't look nearly as good when he's behind a mediocre run-blocking line. By the way: just got reported that Vick will be the week 3 starter instead of Kolb. For those of you who have QB issues (Kolb, Flacco, etc...), pick him up immediately if you haven't already.
Passing for QB: 1 pt for every 10 after 200 yds, 5 pt bonus at 250. 6 pt TD's, 9 pt TD's if 50+. Rushing for QB: 5 pts at 50 yds, 1 pt per 10 yds afterwards, 9 pt TD's, 12 pt TD's if 50+. Vick @ JAC or Eli Manning vs. TEN?
I got my ass handed to me in week 2, 134-67. Once again, Percy Harvin did nothing and Felix Jones was an absolute bust. My team is here. I've got some stinkers, since this is my first year (I ALREADY can't wait for next year, even though I'm 1-1), but I really have to make some changes. I'm thinking of dropping Harvin and adding Santana Moss, since he's got a quarterback that isn't dying and could produce some upside in the NFC east. Other than that, I'm not exactly sure how to go about trades; do I approach people in my league and make them an offer? Is it best to wait a few weeks and trade with teams I won't have to play again? Any strategy on trading in Fantasy Football or recommendations by anyone here? (seems unlikely since you don't know who's available and who's on what team...)
