Go though, figure out what your strengths are (have a lot of depth at WR? How about 2 viable QBs? Depth at RB or TE?), and find a team with that weakness. In other words, if you have a lot of RBs, find a team that doesn't, or sucks at the RB position, and offer them a trade. They're more likely to accept a trade if it is someone who will really be useful to them. Also, ask yourself, "if I was in his position, would I do this?"
To add onto this, look to 'buy low and sell high.' Sell your players after they have a huge week, and their value will never be higher. Buy the proven stars at their lowest, after they have a few tough games or tough matchups. A random example from my league (the guy didn't take it, but it was worth a shot): Jahvid Best+Malcolm Floyd (huge week 2's) for Ray Rice (tough matchups so far, hasn't done much).
I have Ray Rice as my RB1 in a standard scoring Yahoo league, no PPR. He's been off to a slow start, but I'm not too worried because I have good options/depth at RB2. I have M. Forte, J. Best, and Ronnie Brown. The problem? I left the best performer on the bench week 1 (Forte w/ 30) and week 2 (Best w/ 40). I managed to win those math ups, but I have a tough one this week and will need every point I can get. J. Best (@Vikings) R. Brown (Jets) M. Forte (Packers) Pretty tough match ups all around. The Vikings did a good job containing Brown last week, but Best is a pretty good receiver and that may open up opportunities. Forte is in a similar situation, but plays at home on Monday night. I don't like Brown at all this week. So I'm basically going back and forth on Best and Forte, which probably means that Brown is going to put up 50 points on my bench. I'm also thinking about offering one of these guys up in a trade for a better QB (I have Palmer and the lesser Manning). Any thoughts on who I could get rid of without greatly regretting it for the rest of the year? Thanks for any input.
I'd go with Best based on your other RB's matchups, because I don't want a RB playing against either the Jets D or the Packers D. MIN is just the lesser evil of the 3, and since he's hot right now I would recommend riding him out.
Quick question: I play in a league where you get extra points for big plays and for things like breaking 100 yards. I have a possible trade in the works and would like some thoughts on it. My team: QB Flacco, Henne RB CJ, Arian Foster, Best (By the way, thanks to this board for recommending these guys.) WR Miles Austin, Steve Smith(car), and Mark Clayton TE Zach Miller, John Carlson We play 1 of each slot and a RB/WR slot. The trade I'm proposing is: CJ, Henne, Zach Miller, and Steve Smith for Aaron Rodgers, Antonio Gates, McFadden, and some backup player of his I guess my question is whether you think Foster and Best can keep this up. Thanks for any advice and for helping me get a kick ass draft. You guys also recommended Miles Austin last year which totally carried my team.
No fucking way. Chris Johnson is one of the best fantasy RBs out there. He sucked against Pitt, but you can't let him go. What are the passing requirements for extra points? Just so you know, Aaron Rodgers doesn't regularly put up huge numbers on a game to game basis, he's valued more for his consistency. I know because I watch him play every Sunday. McFadden is a gamble. He's getting a bigger share of the load, but he's stuck on a horrible team and was borderline worthless in fantasy the last two years. Antonio Gates is good and all, but it's not like you can make a trade for a slight upgrade at the TE position. Flacco will get better as the season goes on. He's got better receiving options now, and while he's played bad (for two games) Baltimore is showing more commitment to the pass. That trade looks like you had one bad week and are overreacting. If you really need to, trade Flacco and a back up for a guy like Palmer.
Trade advice please 1 point per 20 yards, 0.5 PPR Brandon Marshall for Ahmad Bradshaw and Santonio Holmes We play 3WR, 2RB and a flex I already have Andre Johnson, Reggie Wayne, Jeremy Maclin and Dwayne Bowe at WR. My other RBs are Ray Rice, Marion Barber and Justin Forsett As tempting as it is, I really shouldn't take this, should I?
I've seen people ask trade questions both ways and I always get confused - would you be getting Marshall or Bradshaw+Holmes? I'm assuming you'd be getting Marshall because I don't see how you could have AJ/Wayne/Marshall unless it's a keeper league. If you're getting Marshall - don't do it. You're already stacked at WR, and would be ridiculously weak at RB. Seattle and Dallas' backfield's are a complete mess, and you'd be fine playing matchups with Maclin/Bowe/Holmes as your WR3. Wayne+AJ will probably outscore opponents top 3 WR's most weeks by themselves. If you're getting Bradshaw+Holmes, I'd strongly consider it. Especially with Jacobs' helmet-throwing incident, I think Bradshaw doesn't get <15 touches/gm, barring injury. I've always been a huge fan of his talent as well.
This has to be the most frustrating fantasy season ever. I win in one league, I lose in another... god damn it. In my two money leagues, I have the most points on BOTH of my teams, and I am 2-1 in one league and 1-2 in another. In the league where I am 1-2, I lead the league in points, but also in points against (my about 100 points). Just fucking god awful luck, as I have faced the top scoring team in that league 2 out of the 3 weeks (the other week, I was the top scorer, and the guy I faced was the 2nd highest scorer). Now I remember why I hate head-to-head fantasy sometimes.
Just because this always used to piss me off too, and definitely still does, I want to take this opportunity to pimp www.antsports.com as my favorite fasntasy football interface. It's a no-frills layout, it won't rank positions for you for the upcoming week, and it won't provide you with tons of links to expert analysis, but it does offer the brilliant concept of victory points. Each matchup can be worth a total of four victory points. You get 2 points for a win, and no points for a loss. After that, however, all 12 teams (no ten team leagues in this that I am aware of) are ranked by score, regardless of win-loss outcome. The top four scores get two victory points, 5 - 8 get one, and 9 - 12 get zero. Ultimately, victory points are how teams are ranked for the playoffs, not wins and losses. It definitely reduces the frustration of a bad matchup or a lucky flex guy who throws down for 150 and two TDs when your stud did exactly what he was supposed to do, and, in my humble opinion, puts a much greater emphasis on consistent fantasy talent throughout the season.

I am 1-2, but I have a strong team. Unfortunately, Vick and Flacco have the same bye week. My RB depth is good, and I have LT2 to his S. Greene. He already made me an offer on P. Thomas (w/P. Garcon for Palmer/Cotchery) which I turned down. I am thinking: (Give) LT2, Flacco, Harvin (Get) Rodgers, Marshall I'm not too high on Marshall, but I figure an upgrade to his RB position is expensive and Harvin/Marshall is toss-up right now. He gets Greene's handcuff, Flacco is solid. I cash in on depth (and have to choose Vick vs. Rogers from here) and get another good WR. FOCUS: I would like Rodgers. Is this fair compensation, or can I go higher/lower?
Go for it. Rodgers>>> Flacco and who knews how often Harvin will play. Plus, Favre is going to spread the ball around a lot while Marshall is developing into the go-to guy for Miami. Because of the way your team is built you'd basically be getting two upgrades while cleaning out the trash. You might want to loosen up and throw in Garcon, or Bradshaw, but if he takes the trade as it stands I'd be happy.
The fuck am I gonna do with MJD? His stock is low right now, so I can't expect to trade him and get any better performers, but, Christ, the guy hasn't done shit! Worst 3rd pick in the history of 3rd picks. I *really* hope he rebounds soon... So I guess what I am asking: Waiver wire leads for this coming week? P.S. Once again, fuck Matt Schaub.
Possibly the best move I could have made this season - I dropped Percy Harvin and added Santana Moss from waivers. Finally had a good week, scored 100+ points for the first time and creamed my opponent by 30 some points. Moss netted me 21. I've got Mike Wallace on flex and he pulled in 28. Now I'm 2-1. So glad to have Harvin off the team, he may have only played two games, but I can guarantee you after what I've seen he's suffering a sophomore slump. It worked for me, if he's your starter I'd trade him or drop him. EDIT: I didn't even think about bye weeks. I have Jamaal Charles and Marion Barber as my running backs, plus Dallas defense. Who's on bye this week? Kansas City and Dallas. Fucking hell, I'm gonna get screwed over, especially when you consider I've got Felix Jones on the bench (plus Jonathan Stewart, but someone's gonna be on bye this week).
After my team scored +110 pts the first two weeks they turned in a dismal 75 pt performance this week. I really really need Vincent Jackson to sign but besides that I'm liking my team so far - have gotten strong performances from RBs and WRs. The waive wire pickups I'd recommend this week for RB would be. Benjarvus Green-Ellis NE LaGarette Blount TB Kenneth Darby StL If, for some insane reason, Peyton Hillis is still available in your league, you should pick him up too.
You know what wasn't a good thought process coming into this past weekend? "Hey, Pittsburg is on a third-string QB, and have been playing like shit offensively for the past two weeks! I'm gonna be smart and clever and start the Bucs D!" Honorary fuck-yous go out to Matt Schaub, Miles Austin, and Calvin Johnson.
Although I'm now 3-0 and lead my entire league in points scored, I'm pretty much already ready to concede this week's matchup. My top 4 draft picks were: 1st round) Andre Johnson - reaggrevated high ankle sprain, matched up on Asomugha 2nd) Ryan Mathews - high ankle sprain, questionable, unlikely to play 3rd) Marques Colston - hasn't done shit all year, I'm benching him until he does 4th) Jahvid Best - turf toe, questionable, playing @GB so I'll probably sit him anyway Basically, I'm not expecting anything from my first 4 draft picks, and am going against the only other 3-0 team in the league. Since I'm in first, I also have last waiver priority, and every semi-respectable RB and WR has already been picked up. I will be starting a waiver wire QB (Vick), 10th round pick RB (Tomlinson), 8th round WR (Knox) and 11th round WR (Floyd). Should be interesting.
Lets be honest, though. Vick may be a 'waiver wire QB' but in most standard scoring leagues, he is one of the highest scoring QBs thus far this season, and I don't think Washington is going to do much to stand in his way. Floyd, meanwhile, has strung together a couple of really solid weeks, and if it weren't for the fact that he was playing in a fucking rain storm in KC in Week 1, I think he'd have another TD and a few more yards to his name. I drafted Floyd in the later rounds, too, but he has quickly become an every-week starter for me (the guy I drafted to actually be my WR2 was Dwayne Bowe, who hasn't done much to wrestle the spot away from Floyd). Knox is, well, Knox. He is a feast-or-famine type player who will either get you 100 yards and a TD or 30 yards and no TD. I wouldn't say you don't stand a chance this week. Finally, don't bench Colston. You'd rather play Knox than Colston? Eventually he is going to break out in a big bad way, and you're going to be kicking yourself for leaving him on the bench. Sure, I benched Bowe, but that was because I had a guy behind him with a genuinely better QB and better prospects (Floyd). You're benching Colston for Johnny Knox... I also drafted Best in a lot of my leagues, and his toe injury is really fucking scary. I have no idea what affect it is going to have on him, but I don't think it will be good. I'm fucking annoyed, too, because now I can't even shop him around for a trade.
