12 Team, .5 PPR Yahoo League, 5th pick 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 Flex, TE, K, DEF Matt Ryan QB Calvin Johnson WR Vincent Jackson WR Wes Welker WR Kenny Britt WR Jacoby Ford WR Robert Meachem WR Danny Amendola WR Ray Rice RB Steven Jackson RB Knowshon Moreno RB Jahvid Best RB Jerome Harrison RB (Stepped away from the computer for too long and this is who I ended up with) Jimmy Graham TE Billy Cundiff K Baltimore DEF
I'm doing a keeper league for the first time (going into the second season). The league has pretty standard scoring and no PPR. I'm a little stuck on who to keep. We can keep two and each player can be signed for 1 or 2 years. Here's my team from last year: Name 2010 Salary ESPN Keeper Tom Brady 26 30 26 LeSean McCoy 19 48 32 Ray Rice 55 50 55 Matt Forte. 8 24 16 Greg Jennings 25 40 26 Marques Colston 13 16 13 Dustin Keller 1 0 1 Vikings D 1 0 1 Adam Vinatieri 1 0 1 Anquan Boldin 16 10 16 Ryan Mathews 23 12 23 Malcom Floyd 2 7 5 Carson Palmer 1 0 1 Lee Evans. 2 2 2 Zach Miller. 1 3 2 Dallas Clark 1 14 9 We have to make our selections by the end of the day today. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.
10 team league, I picked first. This league has QB heavy scoring and PPR for RBs only. QB: Matt Stafford, Jay Cutler RB: Arian Foster, Frank Gore, Ryan Grant, Shonne Greene WR: Larry Fitzgerald, Brandon Marshall, Santonio Holmes, Julio Jones, Deion Branch TE: Aaron Hernandez, Zach Miller K: Alex Henery (PHI K), Jason Hanson D/ST: Baltimore, New Orleans I went Foster then Gore/Fitz, then Marshall/Homes and at that point 8 of 10 teams had QBs so I waited it out. Not psyched with who I ended up with at QB (had Matt Ryan in my sights, but he was drafted as someone's QB2 before I could get him), but I think Stafford could be ok if he stays healthy.
12 team league, heavy QB scoring, no PPR. Snake draft, Picked 10th, so my first real pick was #20 QB: Aaron Rodgers (1st round, keeper) RB: Frank Gore (2nd Round) RB: LeGarrette Blount (4th round) Flex: Brandon Jacobs (8th round) Flex: Plaxico Burress (9th round) WR: Hakeem Nicks (3rd round) WR: Jeremy Maclin (5th round) TE: Rob Gronkowski (12th round) D/ST: Bears (13th round) K: Sebastian Janikowski (16th round) BE: Ryan Mathews (6th round) BE: Santana Moss (7th round) BE: Ryan Torain (10th round) BE: Braylon Edwards (11th round) BE: Davone Bess (14th round) BE: Jason Snelling (15th round) BE: Ben Watson (17th round) BE: Colt McCoy (18th round)
Liked your draft overall, but one thing I noticed was that you picked up Maclin in the 5th round. I think whatever illness was bothering him in the offseason has not completely run its course, and that he won't have the type of season you think. I'd put Santana Moss up there instead, or maybe move Burress from the flex to WR, then put Matthews up there. I think Matthews bounces back from his rookie season (with huge expectations) to post 1100+ rushing and 250+ receiving. I'm upset I didn't get him, but someone had him even higher than I did in my draft.
Completed my first draft last night. 10 team ESPN league, 6 pt passing tds and 2 pt bonus for 40 yd+ TDs, rushing, receiving, and passing. No PPR. Starting lineup is QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, flex, TE, K, D/ST. Picked 2nd in a snake draft. QB: Tony Romo (4th Round) RB: Jamaal Charles (1) RB: Benjarvis Green-Ellis (5) R/W: Tim Hightower (7) WR: Hakeem Nicks (2) WR: Mike Wallace (3) TE: Vernon Davis (6) K: Janikowski (15) D/ST: New England (11) BE: Chad Ochocinco (8) Mark Ingram (9) Lance Moore (10) Mike Thomas (12) Ben Tate (13) Antonio Brown (14) Overall, my feeling is meh. I mostly play in 12 team leagues, and I think I did too many 12 team mocks which meant that I wasn't as prepared for this as I would have thought, but I feel like I've got balance, and I'm not woefully weak in any given area.
7th pick in a 10 team leauge, standard ESPN scoring QB - Josh Freeman (3) RB - LeSean McCoy (1) RB - Michael Turner (2) RB/WR - Felix Jones (5) WR - Dez Bryant (4) WR - Plaxico Burress (7) TE - Jermichael Finley (6) K - Alex Henery (13) D/ST - Eagles (8) Bench: WR - Malcom Floyd (9) WR - Jacoby Ford (10) RB - Pierre Thomas (11) RB - Joseph Addai (12) RB - Danny Woodhead (14) WR - Arrelious Benn (15) WR - Eric Decker (16)
6th pick in a 12 team league. Got stuck doing shit and was basically auto-drafted. Standard Yahoo! scoring. QB - Ben Roethlisberger RB - Frank Gore RB - Jamaal Charles WR - Mike Wallace WR - Dez Bryant WR - Roy Williams TE - Jimmy Graham Flex - Cedric Benson K - Nate Kaeding DEF - New Orleans Bench: QB - Kyle Orton RB - Jonathan Stewart RB - Ronnie Brown WR - Jacoby Jones WR - James Jones Frankly, for autodraft, I'm not too pissed. Things that concern me are (1) Orton being involved in a QB controversy in Denver. But then again, if Roethlisberger stays healthy I would only play Orton 2-3 times. Also, gotta be worried about Benson's jailtime and possible suspension from the NFL. Word is that Benson will be back in time for week 1 however and will face no suspension. God bless sports star idolatry. Finally, not too amped about having my defense start the first week against the Super Bowl champions, especially considering the last time we saw the Saints play a meaningful game, the Seahawks hung up 41 points and 474 yards on them. But oh well. Anything I missed?
Forgot to add I've put in a waiver request for Devin Hester and dropping Roy Williams. Hester is one of the better WR's left.
Second draft was today. Scoring in this league is strange: it is 20 yards per point for rushing/receiving, 50 yards per point passing, but all TDs (including passing TDs) are worth 6, so this is a TD-heavy league (no PPR). I had the 6th pick, which I hate. Also, there is no TE position. All WR positions are WR/TE flexes, and there is a WR/TE/RB flex position, too. QB: Aaron Rodgers (1) RB: Shonn Green (2) RB: DeAngelo Williams (4) WR/TE: Vincent Jackson (3) WR/TE: Stevie Johnson (5) WR/TE: Anquan Boldin (7) WR/TE/RB: Mike Tolbert (6) K: Rob Bironas (15) Def: Detroit (14) BN: CJ Spiller (8) BN: Julio Jones (9) BN: Greg Olsen (10) BN: Darren Sproles (11) BN: Kyle Orton (12) BN: Jimmy Graham (13) This league is a very strange one, especially with all the flex positions making the WR pool even deeper than usual. I feel really good about my depth, but still not exactly thrilled with this team. Mostly I feel weak at the RB position, but I do think I have room to make a deal, especially of Julio Jones has the kind of breakout everyone expects to see.
OK, picked 4th in this 14 team league. Damn, that was deep. QB: Joe Flacco RB: Chris Johnson RB: Ahmad Bradshaw WR: Mike Thomas WR: Vincent Jackson TE: Vernon Davis W/R: Mark Ingram K: Alex Henery D: New Orleans BN: Tashard Choice BN: Roy Helu BN: Derrick Ward BN: Bernard Berrian BN: Braylon Edwards BN: Johnny Knox I know, too many WRs, not enough RBs, but... trade bait, I guess.
Yahoo Auto-draft. I hate auto-draft because the fucking computer gives you a backup kicker and a back up defense. The guy who runs the league makes us draft a DEF and 3 defensive players. I'm not particularly happy with any of my team. I'm immediately dropping my second kicker and DEF, but I gotta see what's available. I want to start Gronkowski because Brady seems to love to throw to him.: QB Tony Romo WR Hakeem Nicks WR Mike Wallace RB Ray Rice RB Darren McFadden TE Vernon Davis W/R Mario Manningham W/R Mike Thomas Bench: Matthew Stafford Willis McGahee Pierre Garcon Braylon Edwards Rob Gronkowski K: Sebastian Janikowski BN Robbie Gould DEF New York Miami D Darnell Dockett Antrel Rolle Morgan Trent
Was this a 10 person league? Because otherwise, I don't see much cause for complaint. Rice, Run DMc, Nicks, Wallace, Romo.... That team has very solid potential. Even in a 10 team, that's a solid squad.
My league drafted this afternoon. Its a pretty standard yahoo league, 10 teams, I had the 2nd pick. I hated having the 2nd pick this year, but what can you do. My team: QB - Roethlisberger (8th Round) WR - Miles Austin (2nd) WR - Vincent Jackson (3rd) WR - Santonio Holmes (7th) RB - Arian Foster (1st) RB - Shonn Greene (4th) RB - D'angelo Williams (6th) TE - Dallas Clark (5th) Def - Detroit Lions (15th) Bench: Fred Jackson (9th) Braylon Edwards (10th) LaDainian Tomlinson (11th) Ben Tate (12th) Danny Amendola (13th) Arrelious Benn (14th) I'm glad I was able to get some handcuffs for my RBs. I'm not thrilled with my bench WRs, but I'm hoping Amendola becomes the Rams version of Welker with McDaniels as the O-coordinator. And maybe with Edwards will be motivated since he's on a 1 year deal. I went with the Lions as my D because of the upside, but the Patriots are available currently. Anyone think I should drop the Lions for the Pats? Thanks for any help.
Yep, it's a ten person league. The thing that bothers me is the individual D players. Those guys cost me some games last year. I really despise auto-draft leagues. I dropped the backup K and DEF and picked up Sanchez since he was available in case Romo and Stafford suck ass. The next best thing available is Ladainian, but I don't see him putting up anything this year.
12 team PPR league, I had the 3rd pick. We start 1 QB, 2 WR, 2 RB, 1 TE, 1 W/R/T flex, K, and DEF. (3) Ray Rice (22) Steven Jackson (27) Reggie Wayne (46) Marques Colston (51) Jermichael Finley (70) Marshawn Lynch (75) Ben Roethlisberger (94) Julio Jones (99) Darren Sproles (118) Davone Bess (123) Sam Bradford (142) Steve Smith(PHI) (147) Baltimore (166) Stevan Ridley (171) Rob Bironas I feel OK with my team, but I screwed up on the Colston pick. And with the news regarding Peyton Manning, WR could be a shit position for me. I'm really hoping for Jones to have a good year, and maybe Steve Smith will get healthy enough to contribute for the Eagles. I already dropped Ridley for the Cleveland DEF, as they are playing the Bengals in week 1. Any thoughts?
Kind of a rant. A friend invited me to join a league. She has it set with 3 starting RBs, 3 starting WRs, a WR/RB/TE flex, 1 def player (plus you're usual 1QB, 1TE, 1K, 1 team defense) in addition to 7 bench spots. That's 19 rounds of draft with 14 teams! God, it is going to take forever and the WR/RB spots are going to be so thin. I already don't care about this one and probably won't follow it very closely. Edit: And someone just took Rodgers with the first pick. Why am I in this stupid thing?
2nd auction league ever. Didn't do a good enough job of saving my roll for later deeper picks but am happy with my starters. Might trade Reggie Wayne for Vincent Jackson. Or trade one of my WRs to have a deeper running back situation 5 LeSean McCoy, Phi RB $55 18 Rashard Mendenhall, Pit RB $39 27 Reggie Wayne, Ind WR $26 35 Mike Williams, TB WR $19 40 Miles Austin, Dal WR $24 49 Josh Freeman, TB QB $12 75 Sidney Rice, Sea WR $8 90 James Starks, GB RB $9 136 Aaron Hernandez, NE TE $1 146 Chester Taylor, Ari RB $1 154 Hines Ward, Pit WR $1 161 Falcons D/ST D/ST $1 165 Donald Driver, GB WR $1 169 Steve Breaston, KC WR $1 172 Derrick Ward, Hou RB $1 175 Alex Henery, Phi K $1
The results of that 19 round draft. For 14 teams, I am pretty happy with my depth. My bye weeks have decent coverage and I have some guys who could break out this year. Lots of early grabs for QB's (7 in the second round, meaning I could wait until round 8 to pick one) and even defenses. I don't think people realized just how thin your choices get with 7 starting RB's or WR's per team per week.
Potential trade: I get Julio Jones, I give up Mike Thomas. Sound fair? I already traded McGahee for Mark Ingram, since I'm a Bama fan.
