I have some friends that are dating some soldiers in Fort Hood, thankfully they're okay. My thoughts go out to the victim's family and friends.
To anyone trying to enlist in the Navy, I just went through MEPS and got put on the QNJ list- Qualified, No Jobs. Apparently right now they aren't taking anybody outside of SEAL and nuke, and I'm too old for either of those. Looks like I will end up in the Army instead.
Former Ordnance Officer in the Army. And felt my stomach drop to the bottom of my feet when I heard the news about Fort Hood yesterday. Thankfully all my buddies down there called back and are ok, but my heart is with Hood today.
I heard some guy on talk radio saying that he was stationed at Ft. Hood and there were a bunch of gang problems there. The incidents he cited were a Captain and a Major getting busted for selling cocaine and a whole Brigade not deploying on schedule due to gang problems. It sounded kind of fishy to me. Can anyone verify?
Here is an article on my brigade and our mission. Although I don't really know of any JSS'(s) that Iraqies and Americans eat and sleep in the same place. We still get blown up and take fire from time to time, and have lost a few people.Still the overall article is kind of cool I'm proud to be a (very very very small) part of it.
"27 Months in the Life of a Young Soldier." Rather interesting. http://www.uniquescoop.com/2009/11/27-m ... er-83.html
I haven't read that many military autobiographies, but so far my favorite has been "Helmet for My Pillow", by Robert Leckie. Has anyone found any more recent autobiographies of that quality?
After reading through that I had to compile this list of relationships... June 12, 2007. - With girlfriend Ashley at amusement park. Dec. 15, 2007 - Buys engagement ring for Girlfriend Kayla. March 31, 2008 - Upset about breakup with Kayla July 24, 2008 - Wants to go home and be with Kirsten. Aug. 1, 2008 - Breaks up with Kirsten. Nov. 26, 2008 - Carries a charm with his and Kirsten initials on it. Nov. 28, 2008 - Tears up pictures of Kirsten March 7, 2009 - Invites Devin to a party March 23, 2009 - Deploys Aug. 21, 2009 - Races to embrace Devin once returning home. Aug. 24, 2009 - Marries Devin at courthouse. Aug. 29, 2009 - Moves in with Devin. And if there was another entry I imagine it would say something along the lines of "Sept. 05, 2009 - Ian and Devin file for divorce."
Army 11B. Does anyone here have any experience with Personal Security Detail missions? I'm trying to get as much info/advice as I can before I deploy.
What or more specifically who's PSD team? I was on my sergeant Majors PSD for a few months. We basically went to every COB and JSS every day and then random trips to other places like Baghdad, and we were basically QRF at all times in the sense that if anything happened we went out to check things out. any questions just ask.
Haven't had time to read all of the posts in this thread....but I have to represent the great white north military Me: Canadian Armed Forces Toronto Scottish Regiment Update: We do have guns, igloos are just a cover, hockey pucks are not our main weapon, maple syrup is damn good.
Hey HotShot How about you answer his questions without acting like you have been all there and back again? Explain the acro's to him - would that make you less? Stop pretending.
The dude is 11B; if he doesn't know what PSD and QRF mean, he has a lot bigger issues to worry about. What, praytell, are your glorious credentials that would make you think it is okay to come in here swinging your dick around?
