    Alright, I'm sober now, so I can explain my drunken rambling last night.

    I more meant that it seems like whenever I talk to a girl they assume I'm hitting on them. Either they're not interested, in which case they get all defensive, or they ARE interested, which isn't really much better in terms of making friends. I just want to get better at approaching strangers/women I don't know in a way that doesn't suggest that I'm pursuing them romantically.

    Ahhh, that is a delicate balance. Funny thing is, back when I was single I don't remember thinking that everybody of the opposite sex that talked to me was hitting one me. I do remember striking up a conversation with guys and my friends immediately jumping to the conclusion that I was on the prowl or something. It was slightly annoying. I was never super flirtatious either. First advice, definitely watch your body language. Are you a "toucher"? That can send the wrong message. If you are in a group setting, make sure you give all people (male and female) the same amount of eye contact, attention, etc. If you want to see the person again, just as a friend, don't immediately invite them to do anything one on one. And, um, I am out of practice at these relationship building things, so that is all I have got for right now.

    This is good advice, thanks. Somewhat new city and all, so just trying to build a bigger circle of people to do shit with. Have a couple other irons in that fire, but I'm always down to meet new people to chill with.

    Yankees fans are no different than any other people at sporting events -- which is to say that most of them suck. Yankees fans can just suck louder and more smugly, because NY wins so consistently.

    By the way, when Yankees fans come here for games, we do not yell at them "GO BACK TO FUCKING AMERICA, YOU FAGGOT-ASS COCKSUCKERS!!!" in Yankee stadium, that is how you get greeted when you walk to your seat. With your pregant wife. So yes, they are the worst fans in baseball. Period.

    I guess? The Yankees made the ALCS last year and won the World Series in '09. Unless you're a Rangers or Giants fan with a real short memory, that argument doesn't hold water: WS appearances in 96, 98, 99, 00, 01, 03 and 09 is pretty consistent, no?

    I've never had an issue at Yankees stadium, but then again, I've never had an issue at any sporting event. There are assholes everywhere, like assholes in Philly who throw batteries, or assholes in Boston who shout racist shit, or assholes in Vancouver who start burning shit.

    That's terrible that people yelled at you, but if they did it wasn't because they were Yankees fans. It's because they were assholes looking for an excuse. I'm sure they'd be just as terrible people if they happened to have been born in Boston though.
