Ok, this is by far not a great moment in RMMB history, but it was something that happened that I will always remember.

Back when I first started reading the message board, I didn't know about the suggestion board. I would see new topics in the Idiot Board and the first response would always be someone simply saying "Bump".

I didn't know that this was a mod moving it to the idiot board and bumping it to the top of the page at the time, and I always wanted to be the guy who "bumped" the thread.

Well one day I got my chance. A mod decided to simply create his own thread instead of pull one from the Suggestion Board and I happened to be online at the time so I quickly jumped in and hit the reply with a one word post "Bump".

I got about 10 rep comments and a few private PMs asking me what the fuck was wrong with me, why wasn't I aborted, etc. Needless to say, I learned my lesson fast.

As retarded as that is, I didn't even know what "bump" meant until like a year ago. That I couldn't figure it out from the context is fairly pitiful. In fact, I think I actually asked what it meant on a site I occasionally participate on and it was explained to me. Me no understand compricated inter-net.

What the fuck is wrong with you? God you should have been aborted.

FOCUS: I don't see an issue with remembering the old board for too long. For some of us it had been a part of our lives for the better part of a decade. And even though it's not 'real life' we were still interacting with 'real people' and in some cases forging friendships.

You know, Tucker made a big deal about this not being a social site, that it was for entertainment purposes only. While that certainly is true to the extent that this should not be a substitution for a traditional social life, this IS the digital age, and it's easier than ever to 'connect' with real people with no land barriers. So I can't exactly blame anyone for having any kind of emotional attachment to the old board.

I can't believe I nearly forgot this. JoJo's playground was, for those of us that got involved, unbelievably brilliant. I nearly got kicked out of a wedding because I had to pretend to be a mobster that night. I would love for something like this to be reestablished.

    Never heard of JoJo's Playground.

Agreed. Expecting people to not vent for at least a week is unrealistic. A lot of these so called oppressed people will probably cause less annoyance in the long run if they can cry and snivel a bit now while it's fresh. Or, they could continue to let it build up years after like in some cases...

A lot of my favorite moments have already been mentioned, so I'll add a post that SlingBlade wrote to some girl as an example of one of the most perfect e-smackdowns I've seen.

Yeah, I have it saved on my computer. Probably because I have mommy/co-dependence issues...
(That's not a putdown on Bunny, I actually loved her. She was always helpful and encouraging to me on the Drawingboard. And I liked the angry/crazy lashings out at people.)

He essentially gave different scenarios/guidelines/things you had to do if you decided to participate in the thread. I forget if it was a competition, or if there was some kind of reward for doing it other than just a good story.

Someone mentioned above that they pretended to be a mobster in participation in one of the threads. He'd start a thread where the goal was to walk out on a check. Or start a fight with someone.... Random scenarios like that. It's been so long since it was up I forget the specifics, but it was great for reading material, and would make for a good book if Tucker ever threw all the stories into one. Unfortunately, when JoJo got banned after he freaked out about that death poll, the whole sub-forum got deleted.

Urge to kill rising. Rising. RISING! Falling...RISING!

I'll gut you like a carp, savoring the anarchic auditory ambrosia of your screams cut short to a gurgle and then silence as I rip out your lungs. I'll watch you writhe silently as your diaphragm shivers wildly in a vain attempt to bring life-giving oxygen to your brain. Your silent death throes give my magnificently magnanimous meatpole tumultuous tons of titillating testosterone that push me to rend flesh and bone asunder ravenously ravaging every rapidly reverberating orifice on and within your beaten body. The sheer power of my ribbed, raunchy flesh-rudder raiding your realm will so rapidly release that the reverberations of the raunchy ruckus will release your rectum from your rotundly round ass and reestablish it in a ranch in rural Rhode Island. I guarantee it.

Jesus fucking my tits on a stick.

I need to watch some Teletubbies and eat Pringles. Pringles is a funny word.

Best part in my opinion: The epicness that was the Christmas Drunk thread. 107 pages of awesomeness could possibly never be matched. Hopefully this years will be just as awesome.

I never really participated much in the RMMB, but for some reason, I decided to say a bit more and add my $.02 to some discussions and has been pretty fun. Everyone here is pretty awesome, and it's good to have somewhere like this to go and talk to people around the world and hear their opinions on everything.

    Happy 1st Birthday TiB!!

    1. Would have to be MadDocker posting a one line Rave about how the Dockers played every week.

    2. Supertramp claiming he wouldn't be whiney bitch like he was on the RMMB, and then after a solid month of being an upstanding mod, he broke it. Then he became just as whiney. And his script oh how he loved talking about his great script.

    3. Solaris being so far to the left, but having no real world experience with anything, or knowledge of anything, yet he still argues it.

Oops, those aren't great moments. They are just what makes me laugh. The only really great moment that stands out to me is when that guy sent a youtube video to she girl of him touching himself. So wrong, yet so fricking hilarious that every one of us knew who it was.

We need to have a wahoo, so we can have a real memory to add to this thread!

Probably what's best about the new board is we aren't flooded with 15-19 year old retards posting about how they're 'alpha' males who DOMINATE their social groups. Seriously, if the people you hang out with do nothing but follow your lead they're fucking losers and you need to find cooler people.

The thread about the call girl was pretty awesome. I don't know if it beats the 'ask a cripple' thread on the old board, but still pretty good.

My favorite thread on the old board might have been the John Fitzgerald one. That guy has to be the funniest douchiest loser on the planet. Between bragging about his SAT scores while pushing 40 (does anybody do this past their teens?), showing off his roles as uncredited extras, combining a bunch of different lifts to get a high weight total, and blabbing about his 8.9 score on hotornot.com he was just pure awesome. We need to have more call out threads. Those were fun.

And I am so glad I paid the price of my eyesight so everyone could get a good giggle. Seriously, I have never seen that much......hair.

I'd like to thank Chater for creating and footing the bill for this place. I'm glad I can help in the small ways I do.

toytoy going off on hick rants. I still remember when he said Pimptress' friend looked like a fishing lure because of her giant neon earrings. There was one drunk thread where I couldn't breathe for a good 3 hours from some of those posts.

I'm with you SheGirl. Seems crazy to think that it's been a year already, and thanks and congrats to Chater for setting it up and letting us have some fun with it for the past year.

It took us a couple of weeks to work our way into our own tone of a board, away from the somewhat caustic environment that was the old board, but I'm enjoying what it's become.

And as much as I drop in somewhat regularly, I'd just like to thank SheGirl for her constant hard work. She's been consistently the mod that lives on here during the day and babysits things, for the most part.

Also like to thank DrFryLock for his recent contributions with the thread bumpage. It's a WAY fucking harder job than anyone thinks, believe you me.

Aetius? Who the fuck is that?

And thanks to BrianH for dropping in every now and then and looking after the military threads. Derka Derka.

Some notable MIA's are Savage Henry, who seems to have been swallowed up by Med School (hopefully he finds his way back here at some point), and a few of the old TMMB guard that were honestly funny and entertaining; Geigs, DCH, etc. And ToyToy, who.... well, who really knows what the fuck happened there, eh?

And most importantly, thanks to those that contribute.

It's easy to sit back and lurk, but what really makes the board are those people that take the time to add to it.

Sure, there is some asinine stupidity that shows up every now and then, but it's in very refreshing, entertaining, tolerable doses and is nicely handled by the masses. There is some pretty good Funny around, too, and a lot of interesting real-life stories and experiences being shared.

THAT is probably what I find most enjoyable. Forget the frat-house shit, that's pretty superficial at best... it's the people talking about and sharing the bits and pieces of their real life, either asking for advice, or just recounting a funny or poignant episode in their life.

THAT'S what really works for me, and keeps me coming back.

Here's to another year, and hopefully more people will feel inclined to speak up and join in.
