I really enjoyed the comedy that was the TMMB. So many memorable moments (Fornicats, Ho!) , but it wasn't necessarily so much the threads, but for me it was more about the people. Out of the whirlwind of the board, some really interesting people brought some really funny and thought provoking posts. Interestingly (to me), one thing that kept me coming back to the TMMB was after my very first post. I came back to the board the next day and noticed a couple red dots and a few choice words. Roy Jones had popped up and completely obliterated me over PM. The ensuing flame war kept me coming back day after day just to see how many times he would eventually red-dot me (It ended up being alot). After a while I guess he saw that I wasn't really going away, so he eventually left me alone. And after about a year or so later I guess we made our peace, kissed and made up. He may or may not even remember the episode, but I'll remember it for a long time. It's funny how that works. Love you Roy Jones!
My favourite memory from RMMB was the "BEFORE THE INVENTION OF THE INTERNET MY LIFE CONSISTED OF THE ABILITY TO CHOSE FROM DIFFERENT COLOURED KETCHUP". I never really posted much on the old board, enjoying this one, even if my posts don't go down to well a lot of the time. Looking forward to ToyToys return too, Dixiebandit's in prison at the moment as I recall.
I need a raise Chater. Really though, in the days of the TMMB/RMMB I'd think to myself there is no way in pig flying hell I'd ever, EVER be a mod and try to control the tard masses. Yet here I am, giving what I can back. It's like I'm doing community service, yet committed no crime somedays but for the most part, I do it because after 6 years of TMMB/RMMB/TiB free entertainment, I feel it's the least I can do. And to those of you that always bagged on the old mods (and still do for reasons unknown to me, let that shit go already), you go ahead and try it for a day, it's not rainbows, skittles and puppies and, I'd go so far as to say this place is far, far easier to mod than the former was. Thanks to the members that contribute on a daily basis. Like Nett said, if it wasn't for you there would be no board. Thanks to all my fellow mods, who have guided me and backed me. And a special shout out to Skyello for buring my brain with a new level of oddly funny (for YOU guys) that I had never seen on a forum before. And of course to The 'sack, who holds a special place in my heart. Dude, really you've come a long way and wear your Big Boy Pants almost everyday. And Chater, I still want a raise.
You sure? Skyello gave you video proof of a raise and look how it got your granny-panties in a bunch.
Say what you will about Skyello, but I'm damn sure that locker room shyness was NOT an issue. You think our own mini version of Vin Diesel stands a chance? You actually thought that one through?
Besides ranting about the mice that keep coming into his house (that's what you get for living in the country), and the "baby cousin", it'd probably be a good thread. Thank you Chater, shegirl, Nettdata for keeping this place smoothly running. Happy Birthday TiB!
Last year's Christmas and New Year's drunk thread was a beautiful mess, the most entertaining thing of 2009/2010 for any reason. Any new members that missed out should get fucked up and read that entire insanely long thread. I miss Allord as well. I think he is hands down the funniest fuckhead on this site, especially when he posted on the Urban Dictionary the definition of "Allord". No post on either message board has ever made me laugh harder than this: ...FUCK. My favourite thread that I started was the "So Bad It's Awesome" thread, because people posted shit like this: Spoiler ...and this.... Spoiler ...but the cream de la crop was this masterpiece. I hope it goes viral: Spoiler I also loved the Funny Rep Comments battle between whatsinaname's smugness vs. ballsack's sociopathic cruelty. Some funny shit in there. The thread that wanted to make me throw up into my hands the most was "Ask a Cam Girl." I did not ask her one question because she sucked at everything, and you know exactly who (sorry, "what") I'm talking about. Seriously, that was a JOKE, right? Am I fucking alone in thinking this?!?! Lastly, kudos to Vin Jr., Nett, and all of the mods for doing a bang-up job with the site and not stepping into the realm of pompous, power-tripping assholes. Unlike the RMMB, I have no reason to hate this board. 3626 members, over 78,500 posts and growing. Impressive.
In regards to the RMMB days, my favorite moment involved half the community talking shit about the "worst person in the world": In all his greatness, John Fitzgerald Page. Spoiler I have never laughed so hard reading a thread about a douche as I have on the RMMB. So many witty, intelligent insults; it was after reading all 47 ridiculous pages of flames that I registered to become a member. I wonder what he is up to nowadays? Still driving that outdated BMW and living in a "chicago high rise", id imagine. As far as the TiB; my favorite thread is the one about trying to get hotwheelz laid. I love the guy, but the idea of flying a stranger out to see him is just fucking ludicrous.
I got introduced to this board by Pimptress. Its my daily retreat from all things boring at work. It fills the first half hour of my morning as I steal from my employer. I have thoroughly enjoyed the board as well as learned quite a bit. That is a lofty accomplishment, so I salute the fuck out of you degenerates. Thanks to the moDs for what you do and for not being asshats. Thanks Chater. Great place to hang my hat.
Favorite moments from this board have to be the "Ask a ______" threads. Except for that last pizza guy one; that sucked. That guy should have been pre-screened to make sure he had some good stories. The Xmas drunk thread was epic, the rant/rave thread is actually funny, and I don't know how many awesome ideas I've gotten from the cooking threads. I contributed maybe a post or two on the RMMB. It was a combination of me not really having enough life experience to have anything to add, and the intimidation factor of "be funny or die." When this place opened up I decided to start contributing from the beginning, and I love reading what y'all have to say. I'd say the main difference between the two boards, for me, was that the RMMB seemed like drunken frat entertainment, whereas this place is like intelligent witty entertainment. Both places have a fucked up sense of humor, but so do I so it works. Only thing I really miss about the RMMB are the wahoo threads. I really, really wish we did some of those. Echoing everyone else, thanks to Chater and all the mods. Hopefully this place blows up (financially and in popularity), because I really believe it has a solid foundation. Not an intimidating atmosphere for new members, good variety of threads and conversation (everything from WDT to monday sober threads), and there are a solid amount of consistent contributors.
I missed this thread first time around. That was the allegation. Reality was somewhat different. It all came down to the magical spin machine mentioned by BrianH and a personality conflict. Because he was RL friends with so many people, it all happened in the Mod forum and he was given the opportunity to fuck off without a public debacle. Tuckers house, so we played it the way he wanted us too and just killed it. A few people responded early - but it all got pruned. Reality is that Opie and Anthony did a hatchet job on the guy - they pulled him in to slaughter him for laughs, killed his mike to make him sound even stupider and set him up with unanswerable questions and did most of their really obnoxious shit after he left the room. It's also how do you respond to the allegations? Go on, prove that funny thing that happened to you 6 years ago happened? What? You don't have any proof? Clearly every story you've ever told was a lie. There's a pointless conversation. What was the point of having an argument that came down to 'You're a liar' 'No I'm Not' with nothing on either side to actually weigh one way or the other? Regardless of the truth of the story - there was no way to actually have a conversation about it that didn't come down to 'I'm rubber and you're glue'. The court transcripts from the Lazy Eye'd blueberry douche remain a highlight for me. And if someone published a book collating all the shit Slingblade had posted before he deleted it all, I would buy it and make it my bible. I'd love to meet him and see if he's as fucking hilarious in person as he is in print. I miss the Advice Boards. Partly it was frustrating as fuck how stupid some of those threads were - but eventually even the deadest horse made me laugh.
I wish I had saved that thread in some form. That line was my signature for like, a year. Because it might be my favorite thing ever said in the history of the Interwebs.
This place is great. The switch from the RMMB to here came at the perfect time for me, as I was starting to get tired of the overly e-tough guy tone and I felt that I had learned pretty much all I could from Tucker et al. (which was a lot). This place is so much more casual and laid back. It's funny, I log on a few times a day and usually only spend 5-10 minutes on at a time, but it adds up, and I've really grown attached to this place. I don't think about it much, but there's a ton of little inside jokes etc. around here... it's a nice familiar corner of the internet. Happy birthday TiB!
My favorite memory was that time we all gathered together to jerk ourselves off at how awesome our board is.
I don't get why some people couldn't understand why Tucker didn't want the RMMB to be a place for people to come and call Tucker out constantly. It would have been redundant and it would have sucked. Besides, nothing would have convinced the people who hate Tucker. He could have video proof of the stories and they would claim they were all hired actors actors working for the RMMB, since you know, it's a company and nets $80 billion per annum in profits. Plus, there was an entire thread where all of that was addressed. It didn't cover everything, but honestly, who can prove everything that happened to them? The one thing I miss most about the RMMB is having more people opened us up to more diverse knowledge. The 'what I learned in prison' and 'swingers' threads were awesome. We get some good ones going here, but recently had a pizza guy describing his job? Who the hell cares?
Of all of the forums/boards (and BBS boards way-back-when) that I have checked out over the years, none of them were like RMMB, and subsequently TiB. Its nice to have a place that doesnt devolve into trolling or a pointless political debate. The non-politics is actually my favorite part. Cut away the bullshit and you get a lot of interesting conversations and information you would otherwise not get. Along with that comes with the intelligence level that does not exist on a lot other boards. This sounds massively nerdy, but I will actually go through the trouble of checking grammar, spelling, etc, all for the purpose of keeping up with the class and intelligence level of TiB. That being said, as a lot of people have said before me, my favorite part of the old board was the advice board. There was so much useful information that I received through there that really helped me out a lot in various situations, ("What to do when an ex makes a scene", etc). Not to mention the countless amounts of comedy from the random threads that started as nothing and became comedy gold.
