This is what I'm banking on, especially as people are now realizing a federal-level AWB is a non-starter.....but state-level bans could happen in certain places, which will further saturate the market (people in those states who are afraid to stand up for their rights selling them on Gunbroker).
I've been attacking this CZ 452 stock with a rasp recently and further shaping the thing. It's almost down to it's final dimensions and then I'll be scraping and sanding. More checkering... Spoiler On a custom walnut 10/22 stock... putting the finishing touches on the patterns.
Dick's is the same way here. They get ammo in on Fridays. They open at 10. I stopped by there at noon today and they were out. The guy behind the counter said the same thing. There's 20 guys or so lined up every Friday to buy the 3-box maximum and it sells out instantly. "Deals" (in the current climate) can be found if you use gunbot.net or something but you have to be quick. The cheaper stuff sells out quick and only the cheaperthandirt and the like are left.
Traded my nine year old Springfield 1911 for a brand new FNS-9. Came with 3 mags and interchangeable backstraps. Spoiled for size Spoiler
Nice! That should last awhile. I started work on checkering this stock on Saturday and by Sunday evening had the majority of the lines scratched out. 8 hours of checkering on Sunday turned me into a zombie.
Just got back from the range, went with a few co-workers. Got to shoot my new (first) Walther PPQ. Spoiler Love the thing, I got a .40 and feel really comfortable with it. The only thing I'm not comfortable with is my stance. Do you guys have any tips? I'm brand new at this, and while I'm certain that in a home defense situation, I have an aim good enough to hit a target, I'm just having trouble getting a tight grouping together. A lot of it is due to yanking on the trigger, and when I calm down and slowly pull it back, my aim is much better. But I feel like my hands are shaking a little more than they should. I'm currently standing feet shoulder-width apart, my upper body pushing slightly forward...I don't know, I'm just trying to get some ideas on how to improve my aim.
I know it's going to sound stupid and a no brainer but just keep going to the range. You sound like you have a good stance going but it's all about muscle memory. If you can get a 22 pistol to shoot they are great to train with and cheap to practice with. Low recoil so you don't develop bad habits. These days going to the range is an expensive proposition, I haven't been in a long while.
My co-worker has a Walther P22, and I shot a few rounds on that today. It was interesting, preparing for recoil, and having almost none.
That's why I bought my .22lr handgun... Much more inexpensive to feed than centerfires, and with negligible recoil too. Taking the recoil and extra muzzle blast out of the picture allows you to focus on shooting fundamentals- stance, grip, sight picture, etc... You can practice and have fun all day long with them. Unfortunately the only hitch will be finding ammo (at least for a few months now).
It sounds like you just need some more time behind the trigger to get comfortable and learn how your gun shoots. With time, it will come naturally and once you have it down, it'll be like riding a bike. Don't forget that a new barrel needs several hundred rounds through it before it's considered 'broken in'. If you want some pointers on stance, GunUp magazine has a free download of this month's issue. In it is an article on stances. https://www.gunup.com/magazine
I'm going to pick this up on Wednesday. Other than making sure there's on corrosion on the brass or primers, what should I look for to make sure it's ok?
That it's not Pakistani (POF headstamp) surplus. It has a very poor reputation for hang-fires; I cannot attest to this personally, having never found any. Check the necks of the case for splits/cracks. Look at the packing material (if there is any) for signs of water damage or exposure.
Ive been the market for an AR-15 for about 6 months (not really to do with gun control crackdowns or anything), but I wanted to see if anyone on here had any recommendations. Ive been leaning towards the Ruger SR-556E but at around $1200 it seems a bit over priced.
