If you don't mind sharing: Where did you get it and do they have any more of it?

I have a couple of Enfields myself and I'd love to find a deal like that.

Sorry, man. I'm buying it from a friend and that's the whole lot. My training partner's uncle died and he inherited it along with a pair of Garands, a pair of M14s, a couple Chinese SKS's, an AK or three, a S & W 500, and some other assorted goodies.

I'd pick up a few of those other ones that he's trying to sell, but the AR I recently built has my gun fund a bit on the skinny side right now. I got a boner when he told me he has an M14 (actually, he has two; one in .308 and one in 7.62) but I just don't have the cash for it right now.

I know there are a couple of online gun shops, and a lot of things are overpriced and most of the time it is hard to find something because of short supply. A store I have been shopping recently is Riflegear. They are located in southern California and they will ship in case you are out of state. I bought two hand guns from them recently, a Springfield 1911 SS and a CZ Sp01.

The best thing about them is that if you hop onto their website, you can find a gun that you like, and even if they do not have in stock, sign up for their email notifications. Once they get it in stock, it usually goes on their website first and the notifications are instant. Also the prices are reasonable. For instance a Daniels Defense V3 is going for $1800.00 (heavy when compared to prior years but pretty normal now) as compared to another placed called Island View Enterprises in Southern Cali where they have all their AR's inflated to $2,500.00 - $3,000.00 for a Daniels Defense.

Just wanted to give a plug to that place in case any of you guys in California are having a hard time finding a gun you want.

They still suck at having any 9mm ammo besides self defense rounds though.

I am rebarreling my Suhl 150 rifle and took some pics of the receiver while it is momentarily bare.

Ze Germans don't fuck around when they build guns, that is for certain.

This ammo shortage is getting ridiculous. I don't go to the range and shoot hundreds of rounds for fun. But I do live on a ranch in Texas, and we have a major hog problem. And I have a .223 (unfortunately) AR-15 that under "normal" circumstances is fantastic to get rid of them.

And because I'm not an idiot, I have a sidearm for when I hog hunt in the brush. That sidearm happens to be a .40, the ammo for which is about as hard to find right now as a woman who shits gold bricks.

Anyone have any idea when this ammo craze/shortage is going to end? Or where the fuck I can go to find some that isn't like $3/rd? I don't want to prepare for the apocalypse, I just a want a little bit so I can exterminate some damn hogs.

Gunbot.net is a good way to find ammo but you have to be insanely fast when ammo shows up.

It's getting beyond ridiculous, I figured it would have settled down a bit by now but it shows no signs of stopping anytime soon.

New toy for the range, Savage 93-17 .17hmr. I would usually be shooting my built 10/22 but I've only found about 600 rounds of GOOD ammo around here and marginal plinking ammo is nonexistent. So enter the Savage, .17 seems to be the only ammo left around here that I won't have to mortgage my house to buy.

It's wearing a new Mueller 8-32 target scope, which seems to be a great deal for $250. It's gotten great reviews, and the glass seems pretty clear until you get it all the way out to 32, but even there it looks serviceable. Hopefully it will hold up.

My intent is to keep it stock and just shoot it, but I know me, we'll see what it turns in to.

Also, Just got a website up for my holster business. http://www.rothholsters.com It's in HTML 5 and not mobile friendly, but is pretty nifty if you have a newer browser.

For the most part, your foot positioning is kinda irrelevant to what your upper body is doing. You are using your upper body to create a stable shooting platform for the weapon. Think about a fighting stance like you're boxing more than a true isosceles stance like you see in competitive shooting. When push comes to shove, you aren't going to fight in a perfect stationary position like on the square range or a match. More than likely, you'll be moving (really fast) and firing from the "Oh shit! Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!" position. I'm not saying good footing doesn't help, but your legs are there to cushion that upper platform and provide motion.

http://www.panteaoproductions.com/ has a bunch of online training available for like $20 a month. Paul Howe and Travis Haley both have pistol DVDs out. I took Haley's Fighting in Disruptive Environments class last fall and he is an amazing instructor. Paul Howe has been there, done that and has the t-shirt. You can't go wrong listening to either of them.

LaRue, Bravo Company (BCM), LMT, Colt, Noveske, KAC. Those are who you should be looking at. Stay away from DPMS, Bushmaster, Olympic Arms, and Stag. Smith and Wesson M&P-15's aren't terrible and are a decent mid-range option. You definitely get what you pay for with ARs.

My usual source for .22 target ammo (Eley Match) got a shipment of 5,400 boxes in last weekend and as of this morning they are completely sold out. I was submitting an order when I got the email.

    Mother. Fucker.

Iguana that's a nice looking rifle. I've got two Muellers on .22s (a 4.5-14x APV and 8.5-25x TAC) and think they are great values. The glass won't match a premium scope but they are still very good for the price.

I asked during my CCW class when they were going to teach us how to run and shoot over our shoulder behind us.

Nice rifle. If it's anything like my Marlin 17hmr, you won't have to make many changes. It shoots dime size groups at 100 yards.

I would add Colt, Sig, and Rock River to that list as well.

Sig is a dark horse in the whole deal. I'm not sure why folks dislike the M400 as much as they do, but people who care about milspec a whole lot more than I can't seem to find glaring, fatal flaws.

Colt is good and I'd lump Sig with S&W in the mid-range quality AR section. Now that I'm thinking about it, I'd also throw in Daniel Defense and LWRC into the list of quality manufacturers. If you're just going out and shooting a few times a year with it, the M&P-15 is probably the best bang for your buck.

Rock River is garbage. There was one in a carbine class I took last year and it crapped out on the first day. The guy ended up borrowing a BCM gun for the rest of the class. The low end stuff starts to fail and fuck up when it gets run hard under real conditions. Same goes with the cheap Chinese-made red dot sights and ACOG knock offs you see. A lot of that shit is made for airsoft and not real rifles. You may save $200 bucks in the short term, but you'll be replacing them with quality ones after they inevitably break.

I just got a mil-spec Palmetto State Armory AR for under $1200 shipped. Wasn't planning on buying anything until I got home from this deployment but I feel like I got a pretty good deal as it's including a Burris Fastfire II mounted, a piston conversion kit, 2 PMags, iron sights, and a Magpul buttstock and hand guard.

Only problem is I won't be home to pick it up and shoot it until the fall (the FFL I got it shipped to agreed to hold it for me until then).

Next on the shopping list--an Advantage Arms .22lr conversion kit for my Glock 23.

Hopefully this will mean the prices of all things gun-related will drop before long:

It will be months, hell maybe years 'til ammunition and component supplies are back to normal. However I sincerely hope the damn scalpers eat shit in the next few months as the panic subsides.

Re: Re: Guns and Ammo Thread

At this point I would have to agree, ammo prices are still high and people are still paying those prices so there is little incentive for anyone to sell them for less. Idiots are paying over a dollar a round for 22 shells for fucks sake.

I can't afford the ACR I've been interested in right now anyway, so by the time it's a buyer's market I'll be ready.

The only good thing that came out of this deal for me was a family firearms trust. I pretty much have no choice but to build a suppressed SBR now. I have the trust. I have to. It's my duty.
