Re: Re: Guns and Ammo Thread X2 you don't want to be wondering about that, that's an accident waiting to happen.
When (if) prices return to normal I'm stocking up. My goal is 10k rounds of 22lr, 5k of .223, 1k of .40.
Sorry man but when it comes to guns sentimental value doesn't mean a thing. I'm kind of an AK guy so know a bit about them. That gun BRAND new can be bought for $499 at pre scare prices. Romanians are bottom of the barrel. As for the burst thing take it to a smith immediately. You do not want that thing in your possession with it doing that. For mushy trigger throw in a Tapco g2 trigger which should fix that right up.
If it has such sentimental value why is he looking to sell it in the first place?? Reminds me of the Seinfeld where George takes a bunch of his dad's old clothes to the thrift store, guy offers him $200, and he asks for $225 because it was his high score in bowling.
I bought myself a birthday gift last night, they had no ammo to sell me but still a nice little bushmaster 223, weighs about half as much as the DPMS I have and I need to figure out some better optics for it.
Is that the carbon 14? I got one about a year and a half ago. Went totally overboard and bought a gen 1 night vision scope (because it's cool; and also I use it for hog hunting). If it is the carbon 14, the weight thing was the biggest deal for me. I like that it can carry heavier optics, a bunch of different stuff on the handguard if you change it out for one with picatinny rails, and it still balances and weighs nicely.
What are you looking to do with it? That's kind of the key. Red dot is the way to go for 99% of carbine users and nobody does that better than Aimpoint. Change the battery once a year on your birthday and let it run. Holds a zero damn near forever. This is what I run on my main carbine: Aimpoint T1 Micro on a LaRue quick-disconnect mount (remember, the mount is important too) http://www.laruetactical.com/aimpoint-m ... ount-combo Troy BUIS with tritium (they work in the dark) http://www.laruetactical.com/troy-front ... erts-combo Alternatively, you can go a bit cheaper on the red dot sight and get this. http://www.laruetactical.com/aimpoint-p ... ic-w-mount Not that it matters, but Aimpoints are also much easier to paint if you decide to do it (AR is mine, shotgun is a buddy's):
290$ for BUIS Good Lawdy. In gun news 2 Spikes Tactical dedicated 22 lr AR barrels have shipped and should be arriving shortly. Just took a paltry 3 and a half months to complete the order.
This is Rep. Diana DeGette (CO)- a lead sponsor for a federal ban on high capacity magazines. She's a damn genius... ...unless those magazine things are reusable. Wait- are they? What's next, making your own ammunition??? Spoiler This had better wake people the fuck up the next time an election rolls around. I am making myself happy tonight by taking my benchrest rifle to an indoor range and doing a ton of ammunition testing in preparation for matches this summer. Five bricks of Eley Match looks pretty good sitting in my ammo cabinet. In the past month I installed a new barrel, new tuner, new firing pin spring, and have my new front rest. Buck approves. I just hope it all comes together.
Don't worry a spokesperson came out and said she misspoke and she was actually talking about CLIPS, which aren't reusable DUH! Ow wait. It's like Todd Akin talking about rape, you good woman, haven't a clue of what you are trying to legislate.
It's okay, ultimately she really cares about her constituents. "You’d probably be dead anyway" Nevermind...

The wood on that Turkish Mauser would be at home on a custom build. Nice figure in the butt an ideal grain flow through the wrist. If there was a military production Mauser I would keep as-is, that's the one.
Thankfully AR-related prices are coming back down. I managed to score all of these in the last few weeks (3 Aero Precision blemished lowers, 3 NFA polymer lowers, 1 LPK, and 15 pmags) for around $800 all together, including FFL transfer fees. Now, I just need to find some more LPKs at a decent price. FWIW, if you get a chance to pick up the "blemished" Aero lowers, do it. One of mine has a couple lines in the anodizing that you can only see from a certain angle with the right light, one had what looked like a considerable ding on the hump around the mag release, but turned out to be paint that scraped right off, and one has a couple darker spots in the plating on the mag well, and a tiny ding in the hump where the bolt catch roll pin goes. For half normal price, they're great. The NFA lowers take a bit of fitting work to get the parts installed, but seem very strong, and are very light. Should make for some fun lightweight builds.
Lasers to now be used as a form of ammunition in the Navy... for $1/shot (as opposed to several thousand dollars/missile Figure out a way to make a civilian version of that, and there goes the ammo crisis
It pleases me to know that I might live to see the day where I can light squirrels on fire in my yard while sitting at my kitchen table.
